For those of you like me that aren't vacationing somewhere over Labor Day weekend, THIS IS YOUR OPEN THREAD! We know (or at least think we know) that Sammy the Guns will be cut and retained on the practice squad. Place your up-to-the-minute roster info here.

NFL.com now has the cuts listed:

Backup quarterbacks Jared Lorenzen and Quinn Gray were among the players waived by the Colts Saturday. The move leaves the team with two active quarterbacks in Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi.

Additionally, the Colts released 18 other players:

WRs Devin Aromashodu, Sam Giguere and Onrea Jones; DTs Joe Bradley, Dan Davis and Colin Ferrell; DE Jeff Charleston; DBs Brannon Condren and Brandon Foster; OL Tala Esera; DE Ben Ishola; LBs Kyle Shotwell and Victor Worsley; RBs Chad Simpson and Kenton Keith; OTs Darren Marquez and Michael Toudouze and TE Tyrice Thompson.

Additionally, LB Tyjuan Hagler and OG Ryan Lilja were placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list.

I actually think Harrington is a pretty good player who has had the unfortunate luck of getting screwed by several really bad coaches. Look at who coached him: Steve Mariucci, Nick Saban, Bobby Petrino, and Mike Smith. Unlike Sorgi, Harrington has am arm, and if you gave him a good QB coach (like Caldwell) he could do well.

I do agree with that

But after being hit so many times I think he’s developed bad habits. While in Miami when he saw the pass rush coming his first instinct was to curl up and take the sack. I don’t think any amount of coaching can fix his problems unfortunately.

He never really did much after leaving Indy. Obviously with the TE depth we don’t need him, but if injuries happen at TE, I wouldn’t mind giving him one last look.

I think the OL that we have right now is pretty good, plus when saturday and lilja come back where would gandy fit in, he is a guard. If we have a need on the OL it is better tackle depth after Ugoh and Diem it gets pretty suspect.

but whos spot does he take Hilliard? I say that Gandy will remain unsigned so if the rooks do struggle he can be brought in and already knows the system. Only 2-3 other teams use the same run blocking as we do (houston, denver, … and someone else)

I think the roster is a little heavy on the OL, 10 players (including lilja, saturday).
That needs to be trimmed by one, but we need the depth till one or both come back. I think when that happens we bring Condren back to active roster.

Condren is an absolute sin

Melvin Bullet and Jamie Silva make the roster and Condren gets cut? That’s absolutely outrageous. He was cleaning up, two picks (although they were gimmes), hard hits, sure tackles. What the hell has Melvin Bullet done? And I liked Silva’s energy but he was PS fodder compared to Condren.

Either Bill Polian knows something I don’t or he’s very confident that we won’t need backup safeties.
