I know it's just preseason...
...but I can’t get me enough Colts football!
Go Colts!
I’ve got WOWO streaming, but anybody know where I can watch the game online?
Also Lamey just reported the the Colts waved Clifton Dawson.
Kenton Keith
I’m surprised he’s still around, but I guess he is a pretty good runner – those stone hands make for a pretty mean stiff arm! If he makes the 53 I guess the Colts will be figuring hes a junk time runner for the end of games we’ve already won.
at least it wasn't addai with the fumble
Then I would have actually been concerned.
who's the QB next drive?
Do the colts stick with Sorgi or let someone else (eg Quinn Gray) have some time with the starters?
this drive is looking pretty good
though it would look a lot better if Sorgi hadn’t already spotted the other team 14 points
sorgi's qb rating
went from 0.0 before that drive to 48.1 after, possibly a personal best.
Offensive line is sputtering
Carolina is loading the box with 8 and blitzing each time. It’s a good plan since Sorgi will never throw down field. Not sure if it’s Federkiel or Johnson, but the interior is definitely getting manhandled. Ugoh is having some problems as well. It’s Sorgi’s fault too for having absolutely no pocket presence, but don’t put all the blame on him at this point.
Well some of it is on sorgi
If it was Manning in there he would have changed up the protection to adjust. Sorgi, I assume, didnt even bother

Rushing
He’s returning well. He’s gone for 40 or more yards on his last two returns.
The tackles (Ferrell & Foster) looked good on the last drive.

Howard
was he in on Carolina’s last field goal drive

Punt Coverage Sounds good too for us
It also really sucks that Comcast has 6 different channels all with the same game on right now…Redskins vs Bills, doesn’t help that I’m just North of the DC though..
but cant the Colts for once have all of there units play well?
Last year offense and defense played well why special teams sucked.
Now special teams is playing well and D sucks. I know its preseason but its frustrating
how this is going to play out on the side line
Mudd:O-line you have sone esplaining to do.

Listening to WOWO
from down in Atlanta. At least I get to go to the game next week, but this radio thing stinks. All the bars are showing the olympics instead of football.
First Half Thoughts
Guess I’m one of the few actually watching the game so here are some thoughts…
1. Sorgi is worse then most of us thought. The Panthers were blitzing but he made NO adjustments, and as always held on to the ball too long.
2. Keith needs to go. Stone hands, no running ability. We don’t need this guy on the roster
3. Tamme is clearly a keeper. Looks totally like a Dallas Clark clone.
More..
4. Lorenzen is looking much better tonight though still not stellar. He has looked better then Sorgi but he isn’t getting blitzed as much either.
5. Ugoh is really having some trouble with the outside speed rush. He isn’t moving his feet and is just trying to push the rusher wide (it’s just not wide enough).
6. The interior lineman earlier in the game Johnson and Federkiel were not good. But Justice, Richards, and Pollak seem to be holding their own pretty well (albiet against lesser talent on Def).
Dude...
my AIM away message right now is about my man-crushes on Marcus Howard and Mike Hart. Weird.
I herd he was in fot a play
just not sure how if was on there longer

Personnel
It seems there are some odd personnel in so far. Lorenzen instead of Gray? Keith instead of Hart? Maybe Dungy is trying to give them a chance to prove they are worth something.
And Howard has been in for a couple plays I think.
More
7. We haven’t had many 3rd and Longs with our Def so we haven’t gotten Howard in their much.
8. LBers are looking a little better tonight after the first drive.
9 Hughes is looking really strong, staying tight on his man, and picking some good moments to make breaks on the ball. Almost had one beautiful pick.
More
No sign of Hart other then on special teams.
Speaking of special teams. They have really looked solid tonight on both “sides” of the ball. Rushing looks vastly improved and assertive on returns, and the coverage units have been solid when Adam hasn’t been kicking touchbacks (did they guy shoot up roids this offeason? I’ve never seen him kick so long and hard on kickoffs…)
Probably the one big thing I took from first half: Tamme looks really good, could be the 2nd coming of Clark.
Also
The blocking has looked really good on kick returns. They’ve been able to keep almost everyone away from Rushing until he gets to the 40.

One Thing To Note
The last time the Colts played 5 preseason games they started out 13-0. This is important.

Early play for subs
Definitely seeing some lower level talent early in the game on Def. Not so much on offense. Marvin caught a ball early too which was good to see.
Crosset kicks a line drive
ST on the kickoff did a nice job considering that Crosset kicked a low line drive…
Panthers running our offense
They are lining up with 3 WR and then running the ball, taking advantage of us being in the Nickel…
Guzman is not good
Guzman is really not playing well 2 games in a row. I think he’s a goner He just missed him, and tried a lazy arm tackle.
I'm still worried about LB depth
I hope Sessions and Wheeler heal up soon because I’m not feeling too good about our LB depth
ok
for those who have a live telecast: is it the D-Line that is looking bad at the line of scrimmage or is it more to do with the LBs missing tackles
Silva was really heads up
Silva was really heads up on that fumble. Blocked the Panther then waived off the Colts that were coming to “celebrate” and got Guzman running. Silva should get credit for the FB return as Guzman would probably still be on the ground if it wasn’t for him.
Sanders did that in the San Diego regualr season game
On Session’s 90 yard INT return that didn’t end up counting. Sessions picked it off and was on the ground Sanders flew by him to start blocking, when the whistle blew because the ref thought there was no way Sessions had caught that ball Sanders didn’t let Sessions stop and led blocked down the field the whole way

Just tuning in..
Nice pick by… someone. Who got that? I missed the name?
So am I right in summarizing what I haven’t seen as
Sorgi still sucks
O-line looks weaker than last week
D looks ehhh
Special teams actually look good for once
KK needs to go away
Jared Lorenzen is still fat
Secondary seems really deep this year
As thin as we seem at LB, we seem VERY deep in the secondary. There was some backside pressure on the play but it didn’t factor into the interception. The pass was well thrown, it was perfect defense and a great break on the ball
Chad Simpson?
We have a RB named Chat Simpson? Who is that? I’ve been trying to pay attention this offseason but that name is drawing a blank.
undrafted rookie
very very fast

I've only heard him talked about as a possible return man
I didn’t hear anybody really up on his RB skills.

No idea who he is
no idea but damn, that was a nice little run. Practice Squad for him?

If we are bashing sorgi for a 9 attempt day
we should give Gray more than 5

NFL.com Game Center
has Lornezen with 1 carry for 24 yards, should I be taking a screen shot to make fun of them again or did that really happen.

That really happened.
He was like a freight train that no one wanted to tackle…A fat freight train but still
yeah that was a nice stop
It’s SO NICE to see special teams coverage that doesn’t make me stabbity.

#69 Bradley
Anyone heard much about this guy? He’s been in at DT most of the night. Not seeing anything special from him but he’s been in A LOT
huge cushion
maybe it’s just because it’s a bunch of young guys out there playing it safe, but what’s with the huge cushions our DBs are giving people?
What are we actually happy about this game?
I’m pleased with Tamme and special teams. That’s about it right now.
I'd say that about covers it
though the secondary has been strong too

Lorenzen has been the best QB so far
eww

Like I said Quinn just not sharp tonight
I still think he’s the best long term backup option but he’s not having a good night
Guzman was decent on that 2nd and short
I complained about him earlier so I figured I’d better give him some love
That was a HORRIBLE pick by Gray
Reminded me of Jeff George…no read on the safety…just lob it out there and hope for the best. Not good
What is up...
What is up with these pre-season games were we just pass, pass and pass again?
Can we at least try to run it?
Nice sack by Foster!!!
he had an offsides earlier, but man that was a hell of an effort on the sack.
can someone please tell me
What personnel are on the field on offense right now?
I also blog at Speed Blue Nation
I don't really rememer
sorry. I know it was Gray and I think Hart, beyond that I don’t really remember.
wow
bad snap

No OT
am i the only one who wishes they WOULDN’T do OT in preseason. If it’s tied at the end of 4 quarters, just call the game a tie. No need to risk injury in MORE pointless preseason time
PRESEASON OVERTIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOOOOO!
Let’s put some good personnel on the field and wrap this up

Tell the DBs
just go for the pick just end this one way or the other

Rushing not playing well at CB
Not that I care because I think they should have just let the guy run it out
Giordono was pretty out of position too it seemed
but as you said, not that I care. Preseason Overtime is pretty much the most pointless thing ever.
As if having 5 preseason games isn't enough
Seriously, teh NFL needs to eliminate overtime in preseason. It’’s completely pointless.
If There Was No Preseason
Then Sorgi and Keith would still be favorites to make the roster. Preseason is incredibly important.
http://naptownsfinest.com
I agree
It never hurts to get some more looks at the 3rd and 4th stringers. Maybe we will see someone with a desire to win.
LB on offense?
Anyway….hopefully Vinatieri kicks this so it is over.

???????????
Why did we not kick the damn field goal and end this fiasco

Howard
Listening to Lamey. Is Marcus Howard even playing this game? He isn’t showing up as having done anything. Is he getting shut down or what?
Can someone tell me what the hell is going on?
NFL Game Tracker is confusing the hell out of me.
I also blog at Speed Blue Nation
Do you realize
That if not for Jim Sorgi spotting them 14 this game is over a long time ago?
I also blog at Speed Blue Nation
the D needs to seriously improve
the way the panthers ran the ball, it reminded me of the 2006 Defense.
Atrocious
Only 4.3 a carry for the Panthers
I think it was just the 48 attempts that made it seem bad, and 2006 like.

Oh
Sorry. I’ve had some problems today. I need a little bit more sleep. Too bad the Olympics are out east.
http://naptownsfinest.com
Keep in mind
This was our 2nd Preseason game and Carolina’s first. I think that results in some differences in effort and the number of plays for starters. etc.
