Colts update depth chart, sign QB Josh Betts to practice squad
After flirting with Quinn Gray and Jared Lorenzen during pre-season, the Colts decided to go back to what is familiar, re-signing Josh Betts to the practice squad. Betts has spent the last two seasons on the practice squad.
The Colts also updated their depth chart. Absent from the depth chart are Ryan Lilja and Tyjuan Hagler. They are on the PUP. Jeff Saturday is listed because he was not placed on the PUP or IR. Keiwan Ratliff is the dime corner, and Tim Jennings is the nickel; making Dante Hughes the odd man out in the DB order. Charlie Johnson is the starting OG, and Roy Hall is the 4th WR. Buster Davis is the back-up MLB and Philip Wheeler is the back-up SAM backer.
Clint Session is the starting SAM LBer.
Courtney Roby is the kick returner and Pierre Garcon is the punt returner. Interesting. And Gijon Robinson is the #2 TE (or FB, H-Back as the chart lists him). All in all, this is an outstanding team, with lots of talent and depth. The final practice squad members will be finalized this Wednesday.

I really liked betts
I thought he would have been one of the QB’s on this years training camp roster. IMO he could develop into a decent back up for PM

both of the last two
you get three years as a PS player then you have to make a roster or leave football.

I thought Adam Tafralis
Or that Nick Hill guy would be put on the PS before Betts, much as I like him

so much for Gray and Lorenzen. The same old Josh Betts I was hoping to see in preseason. Oh well, thats life.

Now that the failed "Frankenstein Experiment" is over...
Josh Betts should get the time and support needed to at least be available for back-up service if needed and maybe by next preseason take the main back-up position from Sorgi. After the afore mentioned “experiment” with Jared and Quinn, I think The Big P & Coach D will stick to developing new talent like Betts.
Pressure is somethig you feel when you don't know what you're doing!
