Colts Got Justin Forsett
http://blog.seattletimes.nwsource.com/seahawks/2008/09/10/report_jordan_k.html
Colts claimed RB Justin Forsett off waivers from the Seahawks.
Injuries cost Seattle a potential player here. Forsett becomes the Colts' No. 4 tailback, but could be active on Sundays because he plays special teams. He is a threat to Mike Hart as Indy's "backup of the future" for Joseph Addai.
I don't know what to make of this move. I thought we were stacked at RB. Anyone know about Forsett?

Justin Forsett
I’d appreciate greatly somebody explaining this claim to me. As far as I can tell, Forsett’s claim to a Seattle roster spot was as a kick returner.
D. Rhodes is the only returner amongst our backs. Is he vulnerable?
Or does this show big Ed Johnson the door?
I really trust and respect Bill Polian’s judgement regarding talent evaluation, but if this is true I am more confused than normal.
What the Hell’s goin’ on out there? Grab, grab, grab! Nobody’s tackling anybody!!
We need a DT, not a damn RB!!
I feel better, now.

My guess
Polian wants Dorsett to take over Rhodes’ kick return duties so he could focus on being the #2 back. Hart should stay slotted as the #3 RB/future #2 guy. In a vacuum, I like the move, but considering that we now have a hole at DT, it makes you wonder if this was the best use of a roster spot.

An interesting thought, but. . . . . . .
JakeTheSnake, you’re brilliant insight is titillating. But, isn’t Dom R. the #2 kickoff returner on the depth chart behind Roby? I mean, his time returning kickoffs should be minimal barring an injury to Roby. Right?
Something else, roster-wise, is afoot. Mr. Polian is up to something, my friend.
Don’t you just love the intrigue? Heh, heh!

Yeah I know
It’s a bit of stretch I’ll admit, but that was the only thing that came to mind at the moment. The Forsett-for-Roby swap makes a lot more sense.
And for the record, yes, I love the Polian intrigue. Even though I rarely understand it.

Bye Bye Roby
That’s what I’m predicting. He muffed one kick and fumbled another. We can’t risk turnovers.

Brilliant! . . . .bye, bye. . . . .
Colts Homer, you may just be dialed in on the “other shoe to drop”.
How’d you get so smart, anyhow?

But forsett is not a good punt returner anywayz! He did not to a good job returning punts for the sea hawks. I don’t understand this move.

Besides the one play where he ran backwards
He averaged over 30 yards a return, and he has a 57 yarder called back on a penalty. I think he did just fine. And that was on top of rushing for almost 100 yards. He looked like he did in college, where he had a 6.3 YPC average on over 550 carries.

But, then. . . . .
If Big Ed AND Roby hit the bricks, who else gets added to the roster? Colin F.?

It is strange
Wonderful but strange (being that I’m a Cal fan), but I don’t remember Forsett ever lining up to be a punt returner. Powerhouse of a tailback, but not returner. Then again, my eyes were typically trained on DeSean Jackson as the returner…

Cal Fan Here:
Forsett (although he has the talent to rival a Dorsett in the future) only returned 6 kicks while at Cal, but they didn’t need him back there. However, check out his highlights against the Bears in the preseason and feel safe about your Special Teams future.
