Ed Johnson won't be playing next Sunday, next month, or next year.
I believe the words "Zero Tolerance" come to mind in moments like this.
EDIT: Gonzo beat me to it. I'd put his FanShot up here, but my capabilities are limited.

Are You Serious?
This pisses me off. It isn’t like he was arrested for anything serious. There has to be more to that story. This makes me mad.
Our defensive tackles officially suck now. I’m on the border of overreaction mode. Johnson will be signed by an AFC team by tomorrow and will make the Colts pay.

Fine
So now we have Daniel Muir at NT and that’s it. Perfect. I want a trade, NOW.

Sorry to steal your thunder, Jake
Was just bumming around the Interweb here and saw this, and thought I’d throw it up here.

No, it's cool
When Adrian Peterson gets busted for pot and kicked off the team, I’ll be there to be report it 3 minutes before you do, and all will be well. :P

It'll Be Way More than 3 Minutes Ahead
If for no other reason than I’ll probably be swinging from the ceiling fan by my belt if that happens. (-:
(Note: PLEASE don’t take that seriously. Football ain’t worth killing yourself over.)

Strong move
I think this is a good move by the team. Ed had a really questionable history when he was at Penn State. I’m sure when the Colts brought him in they told him one slip up and he was done. I feel like this was a move they had to make.

As much as it sucks, I'm ok with it too
The Colts are just showing what a class organization they are. The guy has had many chances in life but he may have trouble finding employment after this move.
Peyton's good but have you ever heard of Jeff George?

This season is headed down the tubes FAST
Our one DT with any sort of experience, a second-year guy, is cut (for the inexcusable crime of using a drug that’s less harmful than any legal drug short of asprin). I’m looking forward to AP rolling all over the colts next week (Only partly sarcastic, I’ve got him for the Stampede Blue league)

Do me a favor and hit the bricks. I’m tired of people like you filling up this site with your pessimistic douchebaggary. The Colts have only played one friggin game for the love of god. It could be worse, much worse people. Remember the ’06 regular season? That was the low of the low and look how the season ended up.

I agree with slash196 about Big Ed
King: Unless there’s a lot more than we know, I think Polian’s waiving Big Ed is rather extreme. Pot? Come on. One game suspension tops. Why should the Colts become the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?
But I agree with you about Sunday’s game, and I’m not conceding defeat just yet. Let’s see if Polian has any tricks up his sleeve. Or maybe Dungy will coach with some inspiration for a change…

I thought Polian was pretty clear in his explanation of why Johnson was cut. And to be honest, I completely agree with him and have no problem with it. This isn’t his first offense, and more than likely won’t be his last. So why invest time and money in a guy who is a major risk like this? There are plenty of other football players out there just waiting for their chance.

this season could not turn out any worse. to start. Collin Farrel anyone?

Wow
Well, got to hand it to Polian and company, they are consistent. Big Ed knew the rules, and acted like an idiot anyway. We might see the return of Booger McFarland or Colin “Not the Irishman” Ferrell.

As my brother said:
Dungy would rather lose the right way than win the wrong way. This blows though, this team has NO defensive tackle depth, and they did NOTHING in the draft to fix it, even with Ed they still had low depth. Ed brought this on himself, but it’s still frustrating.
I wonder if he’ll go to Tennessee like all of the Colts washed up defenders. He’d fit well next to the Headstomper.

c'mon!
I agree completely with colts homer, you better believe Ed will sign up with a rival quick smart who are only too willing to capitalise on this hard line BS from us! If this is simply being caught in possession of marijuana, the penalty is surely way too harsh. If he were driving under the influence, then sure, cut, jail, do not collect 350,000 dollars, we are acting like he has just been caught dealing to 9 year old kids, kids with asthma! Bottom line, without him, the D line is getting seriously weak and I can’t help but feel that we are trying oun damnest to make life difficult for ourselves this year, when the path to the superbowl in our conference is opening up like never before. Maybe i’m too liberal.

No, I agree with you
But I think Big Ed might’ve pulled something really egregious that the team is withholding, which is probably a good thing.

Two Words
Legalize It
But no matter what your stance is on the legal issue of a drug that has shown to have a lot of positive side effects (what does alcohol do?), he broke team and league rules and should be punished.

It Is A PLANT
That is right people a plant, it grows in the ground you pick it and then smoke it. I smoke it, my brothers both smoke it as did my parents. Now before you say it makes us stupid we have the following among us Chemical Engineer, Computer Programmer, Law Student, CFP (Financial Planner), and a B comm undergrad student. I say this is a piss poor decision by the colts, seems as though there is a double standard on the team if you are not a star (johnson) you get released if you are a star (harrison) then they have no comment.
One word sums up this situation for all parties. STUPID!

Re It Is A PLANT
One was charged with a crime one wasn’t don’t try and make more out of it than it is.
Coke comes from a plant too, and you know what untill the law is changed it’s against the law plain and simple to smoke either.
I have toked a few in my time but I became honest with myself, I dont believe I would want a employee operating heavy eguipment while high or a babysitter watching my kids while high so I don’t think I would want a person driving while high on pot or booze.

I think he is referring to the previous comparison
between Marvin Harrison and Ed Johnson. Harrison is not charged with a crime, Ed Johnson is. Harrison has no previous history if he was charged, while Johnson does. There is no double standard here. Someone may not like the law regarding marijuana, but it is the law. Ed Johnson broke it, and it wasn’t the first time, either. Ufanforreal was just frustrated that Harrison was drug (no pun intended) into this discussion over nothing. At least that is what I think he is saying.
