The Trenches
Fact is on both sides of the ball we're losing the battle in the trenches, whether it be by injury, new personnel, lack of size, or desire there is no excuse. Jacksonville has how many injuries on the O-line and has struggled with it here early on, but some how when it came down to the game today they got the job done.
With the way the Colts are designed I believe it starts with the O-line. We haven't protected Manning, and haven't been able to run, and then when we did find a way to run today we abandoned it. The fact is the whole logic behind how the Colts are designed is to score, score, and score some more. Thus we need a defense with lots of stamina, and lots of speed, to go after to quarterback and cover receivers, because the opposing team will be forced to pass to keep up with the scoring. Which brings the problem of the O-line being #1, if the line is not controlling the game, it breaks down the rest of the execution, for the entire team.
I think it's the best thing you can do when playing a good offensive team, limit the run enticing them to pass, and get pressure on the QB.
Because of our O-line troubles we cannot overcome the fact that we are back to having trouble stopping the run. In the past, like 2006, we could get passed this because we were so dominating offensively, making other teams give up on the run to keep up with our score. My conclusion is if we fix the offensive line we win more games, and for me it starts there.
I don't buy into the whole Bob Sanders thing quite as much, yes he is a great talent, yes he is very important to the Colts. But sometimes it's like he looks so good, just because everyone else looks so bad. It doesn't matter how well Bob plays for us, other guys have to start making tackles, and if they can't get rid of them, this is the pro's and I'd believe that tackling would be one of the more important things for a defensive football player to be good at.
When the Colts have a hard time against the run, it's usually because of missed tackles. The scheme is good, they are way too often in great position, just a lack of execution. So yes Mr. Polian if someone isn't doing there job, it needs to be addressed like in any other company.

There are these things called paragraphs
they make your posts Waaaaaaaay easier to read. Solid blocks of text make me not want to read. In fact, I’ll get back to you on the specifics of your post tomorrow.

Yeah,
I agree with these guys, about the solid block of text; but, the content was pretty solid.
Both lines are decimated.
Starting Dt’s 250 lbs and 265 lbs and they’re struggeling against the run.

On the bright side
I was surprised how well the Colts ran; I thought it was gonna be more like the Vikes game.
So maybe the O line will be good if Saturday can keep playing.
But the D line is a joke, and the defensive tackling overall is pathetic. But hey, the Colts defense every season under Dungy has always played like Jello.

Not Jello, finesse
It’s a finesse defense; we shouldn’t expect the players to hit very hard.

Finesse?
All the time the Colts are referred to as a finesse defense. What the hell is that supposed to mean? Because it’s certainly not an excuse to not be able to tackle. Besides the fact that I don’t get why anyone would want to be a finesse defense. How many legendary defenses that ever accomplished anything were known as finesse? By the way last year when we played good D no one was saying look at the great finesse defense of the Colts, many were complimenting on the fact that the Colts were finally stepping up and hitting someone in the mouth. Fact is our best tackler and hitter Bob Sanders, is smaller than Hunter Smith.
I said it before our defense is built for speed and stamina. If that’s what makes up a finesse defense then I understand now what it is they are referring to. BUT no matter what kind of defense you are, you have to tackle plain a simple
