The Patriots just released the following statement regarding Tom Brady:

"After extensive tests this morning, it was revealed that New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady's left knee, which was injured in the first quarter of yesterday's game, will require surgery. He will be placed on injured reserve and will miss the remainder of the 2008 season."

Truly

Sorry about this…I know how we all felt about Peyton’s knee and that was mostly speculation on our parts. This is horrible. The season won’t be the same.

Let’s be honest here for a minute. We don’t willingly wish harm on anyone, especially not a respected rival on another team.

However, over the years we’ve complained about everything the Patriots have done. Molesting our receivers in a championship game. The dirty play of Wilfork, Harrison, and Colvin. Running up the score needlessly last season to break Peyton’s record. Brady getting credit for Vinateri’s clutch kicks. And most of all, Brady’s overratedness as a QB.

Seriously, who wasn’t thinking “Karma’s a bitch, isn’t it?” It’s okay, really. We all were.

Can we please keep the forced sympathy to a minimum? It’s one thing if it’s genuine, but otherwise it’s insulting to the Pats fans.

Well, the ones that are left after the ass-cats jumped off the bandwagon.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. :)

Hey.

I hate Brady, I mean hate him. Why do you think my sign-on name is peytonsthebest…because I am sick to death of the argument “who’s better”. That said, I also feel for their fans. They didn’t beat us up too bad over the past couple of months…especially when we (I) started over-reacting about Peyton’s knee.

And yes, my more instinctual repsonse was more than ok with Brady’s injury. However, I am making an attempt to rise above all of that and act civilized. blah blah blah :)

I take exception

…to your statement. I do not wish for ANY player to be injured. For ANY reason. These guys are professional athletes, and if they are injured, they can’t do their job. I don’t want to beat any team just because their best players are injured. That doesn’t even always work (like our most recent playoff game).

That being said, am I glad that we aren’t going to have to listen to how stacked the Patriots are all year? Yes. Am I glad that maybe the Pats won’t have as stellar a year as they otherwise would have? Yep.

Am I glad that a man was injured to the extent that he will need surgery? Absolutely not.

That’s clearly not the point. No one wished that he got hurt, it just happened. But now that it’s a reality, I don’t understand why everyone is going extent of feeling bad for the Patriots and their fans for something that was a freak accident?

Very Candid Remarks

and i like that, this is the blogosphere, in a world veiled by politically correctness i like statements like this. Because when it comes down to it Professional Sports are just a business, and there is a huge disconnect between the fans and its participants.

Took the words out of my mouth. I still don’t get the The NFL is worse off without Brady statement. Injuries happen and people fill in spots. No one ever said the league was worse off without Kevin Everett when he was nearly paralyzed last year. Brady will have surgery, and be back next year ready to go.

I’m definitely not going to feel bad when the Patriots come to Indy in November. I hope the Colts crush them into oblivion, no remorse. The Colts would be stupid not to take advantage of Brady being out this season, that’s for sure.

Okay, let’s not go too far. The NFL IS worse off without Brady. Yes, he’s smug, cocky, and arrogant, and we hate him. But he’s a hell of a competitor, and he’s won three Super Bowls (and lost a fourth. 18-1! Sorry, couldn’t resist). He’s earned our respect, even if we know he’s the second best QB in the NFL, and he is a future Hall of Famer, just like Peyton.

To respond to your statement, it IS different between Brady and Everett. Kevin Everett suffered a potentially life ending injury. He was also a third string tight end. Tom Brady has a fucked up knee, and is a future HoF QB. Everett is lucky to be walking. Brady will be throwing deep jump balls to Moss in a few months.

Do I hope that the Colts destroy the Pats? Absolutely. I want Peyton to throw 7 TDs and shut out the Pats on national TV. Am I disappointed that I won’t get to see another epic duel between Brady and Manning? Yeah, I am. We all should be. How often do you get to see two first ballot HoF QBs in the prime of their careers duel against eachother? When it’s all said and done, they’re going to need to erect a new wing of the Pro Football Hall of Fame for these two teams.

So, let’s keep the fake sympathy to a minimum, but let’s not kick the guy when he’s down either. Be respectful. Even if he is a douche and we hate him.

I don’t understand a word you just said.

I didn’t go to far, or even far enough really. I never said I didn’t respect the guy’s skills, so I don’t know what you are getting at with this.

….
What’s your point? My point was that the Kevin Everett incident was a much bigger deal than this Brady issue. Brady’s life wasn’t threatened at anytime, he just blew his knee out. It’s not the end of the world for him, so all of this “woe is me” talk because he is done for one season has gotten out of hand. No one was saying this crap when Everett nearly died.

Do I hope that the Colts destroy the Pats? Absolutely. I want Peyton to throw 7 TDs and shut out the Pats on national TV. Honestly, I’m not really worried about not seeing another Brady vs. Manning duel. It can’t get any more epic than the 07 AFCCG anyways.

So, let’s keep the fake sympathy to a minimum, but let’s not kick the guy when he’s down either. Be respectful. Even if he is a douche and we hate him.

Fair enough

I’d like to say Cassel has a chance at the Lube, but I’m doubtful. Even in the best of situations, a Brady vs. Manning battle is a nail biter for me. At least I get to see one great QB this season…

One thing you are very wrong about is that Peyton has to try to compete for Brady’s no. if that is what your truly speaking of the stats or no. are far ahead in Peyton’s favor, if your referring to last seasons stats yes Brady was better once in a season doesn’t make him better just makes him closer to the better QB in Peyton.

As for Brady being hurt I for one much rather have him in the game when both teams meet but then again it still is the same old excuses are D was tiered ,we had to many injuries, the ref’s were against us.

Try going to some other site to cry over being beat see whar happens, more of the same.
