Jim Caldwell????
I was looking back at Caldwell's numbers at Wake Forrest when he was a head coach with them and found he had a 26-63 record. I know he has been the understudy of Dungy for 8 seasons, but how different is his coaching philosophy from Dungy's? This worries me more than anything. Usually when a new coach takes over with a different philosophy it takes time for a team to adjust to the new stile of coaching. Jim Caldwell is under alot of pressure to coach just like Dungy did and with such a low college coaching record. It might be 2 years until we see a stable Colts team adjusted to his stile of coaching. I pray to God that this does not result in loses next year. The last thing the Colts need is the media and fans critizing Jim Caldwell. But with that said, we Colts fans have to get use to hearing "This is Jim Caldwell's first year as a NFL coach" and "Is Jim Caldwell going to live up to Dungy's reputation?". I realy don't want to see "what would have Dungy done" on this site. God knows if all goes wrong we have Tom Moore to step in at any second if things get harry. All I'm trying to say is that I hope things go as smoothly as possible next year. Thanks for the memories Dungy. Oh Yah.............Fire Russ Purnell.

Caldwell
I wouldn’t focus too much on his career at Wake Forest. Pete Carroll has a great college record, but is a garbage head coach. College is more about recruiting than coaching. Instead, focus on Caldwell as an assistant. Since he became Colts QB coach, Peyton Manning has developed into the best QB in the league.

From Phil B
Colts wide receivers coach Clyde Christensen, is on The Fan radio show with Bob Kravitz and Eddie White. Asked about Dungy successor Jim Caldwell, Christensen said, “There’s going to be an awful lot of people who are going to say, "Gosh, this guy reminds me a lot about Tony.”

kind of strange phrasing
from context he’s saying “reminds me of Tony a lot” rather than constantly bringing up coach Dungy.

Well
We’ve goto give the guy a chance. But I promise you his leash won’t be long with Manning starting to begin looking at the fall of his career. If he sucks it up, there’s a couple coaches (Marty, Cowher etc) that I’m sure would be enticed to work for an organization as praised as the Colts. And who wouldn’t watch to coach Manning?
Nobody will ever replace Dungy. We can only hope he’s set us into a dynastic franchise. I don’t think that’s a term, but I’m claiming it either way. Dynastic franchises are the Steelers type ones who are at worst considered good teams. In the very least, his coordination with ownership and the GM has shown how to achieve peace within an organization and ultimately, leads to consistency and winning.
