Meeks has resigned
Colts released a statement at about 3:30 this afternoon that Ron Meeks has officially resigned. Here is the official statement from the team:

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ANNOUNCE STAFF CHANGE
Ron Meeks has resigned as defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, the club announced today.
Meeks served in this capacity with the club since 2002.
Unfortunately, no other outlets have picked it up yet, and I couldn't find another link.

What exactly makes you think Gruden knows anything about defense? Considering his entire career has been based on the offensive side of the ball.

Re John Gruden
Because he had all those great defenses in Tampa. Even without a bunch of guys Dungy drafted.
But I guess since you say he is more of an offensive guy, maybe it would be best for the Colts to put Herman Edwards in the DC spot and Gruden at special teams.

What are you even talking about? Gruden had nothing to do with the defense in Tampa. That was all Dungy and Kiffen’s work. And where the heck did Gruden being a special teams coach come from? He’s never coached special teams either.
