Meeks has resigned

Colts released a statement at about 3:30 this afternoon that Ron Meeks has officially resigned.  Here is the official statement from the team:

January 20, 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS ANNOUNCE STAFF CHANGE

Ron Meeks has resigned as defensive coordinator of the Indianapolis Colts, the club announced today.

Meeks served in this capacity with the club since 2002.

Unfortunately, no other outlets have picked it up yet, and I couldn't find another link.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

New DC.

Bring on Gruden!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly makes you think Gruden knows anything about defense? Considering his entire career has been based on the offensive side of the ball.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

Re John Gruden

Because he had all those great defenses in Tampa. Even without a bunch of guys Dungy drafted.
But I guess since you say he is more of an offensive guy, maybe it would be best for the Colts to put Herman Edwards in the DC spot and Gruden at special teams.

What are you even talking about? Gruden had nothing to do with the defense in Tampa. That was all Dungy and Kiffen’s work. And where the heck did Gruden being a special teams coach come from? He’s never coached special teams either.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.
