What does this mean to the team?
First off, let me say that I don’t honestly know if this is normal or not. Do we typically re-negotiate deals for players that spent all of their time on the practice squad?
Giguere was like the 1st Undrafted Rookie Free Agent that we picked up, or at least first reported. I remember hearing great things about him from camp (described as a “Wes Welker-clone”, but that he was unpolished and Clyde C. was on him like a hawk – meaning that the Colts “really” liked him. Plus Polian has said since the off-season started that he thinks he’s a talented young WR.
To me it would seem like there’s a high chance they’ve tagged him to already make the active roster next year, otherwise why negotiate a 3 year deal? You could just stick him on a 1 yr deal, which would have to be renegotiated later anyway if he didn’t make the active roster, etc.
Can anyone share some insight on how common this is? Maybe it’s just reported because that newspaper is really hunting for news – or really proud of their hometown boy. Thanks!

I think it's pretty normal for fringe players/ minimum salary guys to get multi year deals
it’s another added benefit to the team. If the player breaks out then the team has them for another 1-2 years for cheap. I think guys from the practice squad have to get new contracts for the team to control them through the offseason (offseason roster is bigger than the 53 man regular season one).

normal for PS guys to get new contracts in the offseason
because they were cut before going on the PS, their previous contract is gone.

Yeah it’s a pretty common procedure for practice squad guys. But there is always that possibility he may get promoted.
This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

Some of my best friends
Are Canadian. Almost all the ones I’ve met are really laid back and actually think it’s funny when Americans make fun of them. Don’t think I’ve met a strung out Canadian yet. Granted, I think they all smoked massive quantities of pot…..
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

No French Canada
The English speaking parts seem to be a lot more developed. Besides they seem to have all the pretty Brit women up there in Toronto.

Translation - Just pretend Parsr18*andDONEwithoutCHEATING wrote it
By the way, I just like how “retard” translates to present. And where’s torontoscoltsfan or whatever when you need him? I bet he’s got a buddy if he doesn’t know it. Man, literal translations are hysterical.
New contract of 3 years in pocket
"Some days only after our elimination facing Chargers of San Diego, the direction of Colts made me sign a continuation of contract of three seasons.
I am really happy with this news and this proves that the organization is satisfied with my progress and believes in me.
I am very well here and I am extremely happy to have extended my understanding with Colts. It was marvellous a little slow Christmas present.
Personally, I am satisfied with my progress and I had a feeling that I would have been ready to jump into the mêlée. I must nevertheless confess that I was a little made tired at the end of the campaign.
With the mini-camp, the training camp and the eliminatory, this makes exactly 23 weeks of intensive football while with the Green and Gold, I was accustomed to campaigns of about eight weeks.
The season is longer and more overdemanding physically and mentally. I am happy with my adaptation and I am persuaded that it will still be better next year.
End of season difficult to swallow
Our elimination faced with Chargers was whole shock for the organization. Everybody thought that we had a team to go far and the dream came to an end abruptly.
Nonetheless, we are satisfied of our season on the whole, especially with our increase of nine following wins to end the campaign.
Everything took place so fast after eliminatory match. We came back from San Diego at about 6 h, at 14 h we were in the centre of training for the medical examination of end of season and to pick up our personal belongings in the cloakroom.
Then, coach Dungy held a last meeting of team which lasted only a dozen minutes.
Everybody left for his/her part later. Many people took the plane to go back to their main home which is located outside Indianapolis.
The retirement of Tony Dungy
Personally, I learnt news while I was on vacation in Mexico. Everybody knew that there was a possibility that Tony leaves, but nobody was certain with this effect.
His decision could lean as much on the one hand as of other one and I imagine that he judged that it was about the best decision for him and his family.
I do not think that he would have been tried to come back to leave in glory, it is not really its type. He would perhaps have been able to come back for the love of football or to follow his relations with his colleagues and longstanding friends, but the family gained the upper hand in end of line.
Remain to see now which decision will make our ticket collector star Marvin Harrison. I know that he loves his sports and that he is always in very good physical condition.
It is predominant always in spite of its age. I would not be surprised to see again it next year.
Plans during dead season
I come back hardly from a nice week of vacation to Riviera Maya and this week, I finalize what I have to make in Indianapolis before going back to Sherbrooke to see my family and my friends.
I also have intention to take back training in the gymnasium of the University with André Bolduc and some good friends.
Then, I shall go in Florida to train with friends and at the end of March, I shall be back in Indy since obligatory training will start.
As for Super Bowl, I should listen to it quiet to me with my fellows.
Impressions on the eliminatory
I tried to keep a certain distance in comparison with the eliminatory in NFL following our elimination, but I must confess that I really threw an eye.
We had the right to a good typical duel Ravens-Steelers in final of the American Association. Pittsburgh has whole defensive, possiblement the best of the League, and they knock very firmly.
I am very happy for them because it will be the very first time of the history of the organization where they will participate in Super Bowl.
A very good duel is to envisage between an aggressive defensive and an explosive attack!
Good football!

I missed a paragraph
Insert this paragraph right after the “We had the right to a good typical duel Ravens-Steelers…” sentence.
“On the side of the National, Cardinals agreeably surprised me. They showed a tremendous number of determination throughout their course and they were rewarded.”

hahaha hilarious translation
i can speak/read french. it’s a very romantic language, as you can see by the awkward word for word translations.
quebec probably produces the best amateur football talent in canada.
though the colts dan federkeil (universtiy of calgary) may disagree.

I'm encouraged by the news...
so it seems that the front office has a lot of confidence in this guy.
Personally, I really don’t think that we have any problems with DEPTH at receiver, it’s the question of who will replace Marvin.
Eh, well, I’ll take this as encouraging news pointing to that we won’t be taking a WR in the first.
I… really don’t want Polian to do that.

I say
Let Piare Garcon replace Marvin. He had a good pre season and did every thing he was supposed to do at the #4 receiver slot last season even though was only in on 1 play for 1 catch.
