All-Pro Team Announced

The List

Peyton Manning was the only Colts' player named to the squad.  Reggie Wayne got 0 votes.  Dallas Clark was 3rd with 2 votes.  Jeff Saturday was 4th with 2 votes, Freeney was 6th with 4 votes.  No other Colts' player received any votes.

To give you an idea of how good voters were this year:  Boldin, whom I love, but missed atleast 25% of the season, got more votes than Reggie Wayne (0).  Brandon Marshall whom started hot after a suspension and then was the 2nd best WR on his own team got more votes than Wayne.

Mario Williams got more votes than Freeney, which is 0_o.

Jerod Mayo, a rookie, got more votes than Gary Brackett.  This is only a small beef, because Brackett will never make a pro-bowl or all-pro team, but it amazes me that a rookie can get more love than someone like Brackett just because of the market he plays in (and I don't buy the injury situation, since people that were injured (like Boldin) still got significant numbers of votes.

If you're too lazy to look, Manning got 28 votes, Brees 10, Rivers 9, and then pennington and warner were in the rear, I think with 1 and 2.

Oh well, lets talk about the AFC for a second. As I just mentioned in Phil B.’s blog one of the following will be playing in the super bowl: Kerry Collins, Joe Flacco, Ben Roethlisberger, Philip Rivers.

No

because the list doesn’t include Peyton Manning

yeah.

I’m bummed more for Peyton than myself. He so deserves multiple trips. He IS the best to ever play, imo. He is definitely the best now. But, unfortunately, if he doesn’t get at least one more ring…the jerkoffs writing history will allow that to detract from his greatness.

It's justification

No matter what he does, it won’t be enough. Unless he wins 4 SBs. Seriously, if he wins 2 then “Tom Brady won more and played at the same time.” If he won 3 it’d be “Tom Brady won the same amount and didn’t have the receivers he did.” If he wins 4 it’d be “Tom Brady is hot, I want to lick him, I mean, I know I’m a dude, but for some reason I can’t avoid this man crush I have on him.”

Face it dudes, Peyton was the #1 overall pick. Archie Manning’s son, played at a big school, is in all the commercials, and with Eli’s win, there will forever be a Manning stamp on the NFL. And it drives people crazy because Peyton doesn’t play for them. So they’d rather see the underdog 6th round picks do better. No matter what happens, someone will be trying to tarnish his image until everyone that dogged him sits around exclaiming “I knew he was the best ever! He was awesome! I can’t believe you’d even argue against that!” Hey, it’s your own damn fault if you’re too petty to realize that if you’re dogging the guy, you’re only screwing yourself out of getting to watch him play.

Do me a favor, think about everything the media says about Romo and think of what they say about Manning. If you omitted the names of players and their teams, you’d almost think they were the same guy. And that’s bogus.

I can’t say if he’s the best that ever played. I can say he’s the best that’s ever played since I’ve been alive. To me he’s what Unitas would be if Unitas was frozen until 2000.

The Manning-Romo comparsion

Some people ( the media and fans) have the nerve to try to compare Romo to Peyton saying how Manning didn’t win his first few playoffs, so they would put Romo in the same company as Petyon. Um, Manning didn’t have “one of the greatest defenses in the league” (Deion Sanders’ words right before the Ravens’ first RB ran for that 70+ yds TD against Big D’s defense on Saturday Night Football) his first few years in the league, and still the Colts were all offense and no defense in the early to mid 2000s. Romo is supposedly to have a complete team, something Manning just got a few years ago. Romo clearlydoesn’t have to same passion, desire, and TALENT that Peyton has. People said the same thing about Eli not having the same passion as big bro, but Eli performed well when he had to perform, unlike Romo who clearly couldn’t handle the pressure in last year’s playoff game against NY and in this past season in the month of December.

He is very close to Unitas.

I agree about Johnny U – albeit in a different time – he actually changed the game.

Peyton reminds me alot of Johnny…watching the old films of him a comparing to Peyton. Pay particular attention to their drop-backs, they are practically identical…timing, everything. Its a beautiful sight.

Your argument is very well put. And I believe you are absolutely right.
