Thursday Injury Report

Not only is it bad news, it's boring. No new (injury) additions and none of the 7 that sat out yesterday were back. Dwight Freeney, Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett, Kelvin Hayden, Anthony Gonzalez, Keyunta Dawson and Chad Simpson all missed a second day of practice this week. Tim Jennings, Tony Ugoh and Adam Vinatieri were given the day off.

I don't expect any of the 7 guys sitting to play with only a day or less of practice, which would mean a DE rotation of Robert Mathis, Raheem Brock, Eric Foster and Philip Wheeler (a bit concerning). Freddy Keiaho and Jennings would get starts again (quite concerning). T.J. Rushing would be returning kickoffs (not at all concerning).

if only he was a defensive end

I think we’ll get our first look at Moala this week. Almost guarantee it if Dawson is out.

It's not good news, but not a big deal

I still believe the Peyton-Manning led Colts will easily handle the Seahawks. We’re at home, Hasselbeck is not starting and we still have a lot of great talent playing. I’m not worried. Plus, the team is hitting their stride. Let those guys heal!

Hoping I don't regret saying this

but I am also not terribly concerned. At least there are no surprises on the injury report. Wonder what Simpson’s stomach injury was?

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Oct 1, 2009 6:06 PM EDT up reply actions

I don't know

But not having Simpson doesn’t worry me in the least. It could be a blessing. And I hope Peyton lights it up again and sets some new records Sunday.

by Ayrshire on Oct 1, 2009 6:09 PM EDT up reply actions

I hope he has a couple of good returns

and replaces Simpson as the kickoff returner for good.

I was actually thinking

someone punched him in the gut for only having a 4.2 yard kick return average

by LovinBlue on Oct 1, 2009 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I am always concerned

with that many guys missing.

But it’s best to let Brackett and Hayden rest one more week as the Titans game is far more important that the Seahawks game. I hope most if not all of these guys are ready to go next Sunday night.

Fingers crossed that Freddy K doesn’t have a bad game.

Good thing it's Seattle

And not Tennessee or another divisional opponent.

by Colts Homer on Oct 1, 2009 6:46 PM EDT reply actions

but even tennesse wouldn't worry me to much even though a little more

they are not playing well especially on defense, im also not worried but i did think we would have brackett or hayden back at least which would help

by TheAngelsColts on Oct 1, 2009 6:55 PM EDT reply actions

I think Seattle is going to be closer than people think and I think Tenn is going to need to be all hands on deck (minus DFree) because Fisher is going to pull out all the stops. Every fake punt/FG, onside kick, statue of liberty, wild cat, paper cut drive he can to win the game. They’ll beat jacksonville and their only hope of winning the division (and making the playoffs, really, I don’t think 1-4 has much of a chance) is to get on a pretty big roll. Losing to the Jets and still having to play the Patriots (two probable playoff teams) AND losing to the steelers is really going to hurt the tit-ans come crunch time.

by SpazMo on Oct 1, 2009 7:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Don't get cocky.

The Titans will still control the clock if our defense doesn’t play well. You should also n ever underestimate a divisional opponent. Yes, Peyton has looked great, but it only takes a slow start like last week against a team that can actually move the ball and score points for the game to turn out entirely different.

by hoosierdore on Oct 2, 2009 10:39 AM EDT up reply actions

+1

Colts are just a couple of plays away from being 1-2 right now. It’s best to rest some of these starters this week, but we need to play our best to beat Tennessee on the road in a hostile environment. It’s going to be a do-or-die game for them.

Most teams are a couple of plays away from being 1-2

The fact is that the Colts are 3-0. I’m very confident about this game.

i dont know

i think agains seattle it wont be to bad. freeny is a great asset the best at bringing pressure on the pass. the thing is this team wont pass as much as the carnials. second i see the key to this game being the run they do have two pretty good running backs. the defensive line and the line backers are going to be key thats why id want brackett but not too worried. yea tennessee will try and win and all but there wont be no fake feild goals or on side kicks i dont think.

by TheAngelsColts on Oct 1, 2009 7:18 PM EDT reply actions

One of these things is not like the others........

Dwight Freeney, Bob Sanders, Gary Brackett, Kelvin Hayden, Anthony Gonzalez, Keyunta Dawson and Chad Simpson.

Anybody else notice that our only currently injured offensive player is Gonzo (Simpson doesn’t count as an offensive player, he’s a special teams player.)? That is the sole reason that I am still super-confident that the Colts will win this game.

good point

our offense is in no way the issue. the only chance i really see for seatle is running the ball but we have done well this year against the run. i take out thae miami game or at least only take it into account on a minor bases. the reason is that they did use the wild cat to get most of there rushing yards and for the most part that is a one team thing none of the other teams that have so called “wild cat” packages are anything like the dolphins. so besides that one game we have done great against the run i think

Sucks, but . . .

don’t underestimate Mathis. He’s a maniac.

Don't forget...

It wasn’t all that long ago a Peyton Manning Colts team went out to San Diego with a skeletal crew of about 30 or so and would have won the game if not for Vinatieri’s missed FG. Peyton threw 6 picks and still should’ve won. And, who is he going against Sunday? Seneca something? Are you friggin’ kidding me? Give me a break. This will be a blow-out. It’ll be a pleasure to watch.

by Ayrshire on Oct 1, 2009 8:32 PM EDT reply actions

sure, but . . .

Mathis makes some of the biggest plays on the team. He has made several plays in his career that have single handedly turned games. I think he’s one of the most respected guys on the team for what he brings every play. I can see him taking it on himself to up his game, and hopefully get some pressure.

well no one is denying that!!!

but im i wrong they are more of pass rushers theoreticaly. at least as there strong suit. well the only thing that id even consider that would give them a shot at being close is if they run the ball well but if thats all they got there really isn’t much to worry about. im going to check how that quarterback did last week

by TheAngelsColts on Oct 1, 2009 8:37 PM EDT up reply actions

OK

well looking at his numbers for the last two weeks he has a good pass completion percentage and has gained in each game 127 and and 261 respectivly. however he does have a turn over problem as in both games he has had a fumble and an interception so that is good. this means that mathis could have a big game id expect a min. of one turnover from him caused by mathis or the pass rush in general. the other thing is i dont see much of a deep threat issue they may have some recievers but the arm of the quarterback i dont know about. hi is averaging just under 6 yards per pass for a total passer rating of 74.9

by TheAngelsColts on Oct 1, 2009 8:48 PM EDT reply actions

this says to me that having backups which are not bad but we know can do well and if jennings can have an ok game even play at least how he did last week we should have no problem in the passing game i think

Tim Jennings

As much crap as we give him, I’ll say this. He sure is one DURABLE sob. I mean heck Kelvin, Marlin, and Bob could take a page from his book on how to stay healthy

I'd donate a kidney in exchange for Pdiddy and my colts to get 2 more Super Bowl rings...That's LUV

We're playing the Seahawks

I don’t mean to sound cocky, but it’s the SEAHAWKS. Without their starting quarterback. I would only consider it bad news if they were going to try to play when they weren’t ready. I’m content that they play it safe and give it another week of rest and rehab rather than risk anything severe. Now, anything could happen, but our offense is going to be the same as it was last week, and to reiterate…IT’S THE SEAHAWKS…..SANS HASSELBECK

by npb1985 on Oct 2, 2009 11:10 AM EDT reply actions

and without most of their starting secondary

I believe they have some significant injuries in their secondary, and our offense .. especially the pass is working well right now.

No the seattle game isn’t the issue it is tennessee. But Tennessee is much more a run team and not having Freeney will have less of an impact there that playing a team with stronger passing attacke.

An expert is someone who knows more and more about less and less until they know everything about nothing...

Don't forget the Browns game

We almost lost to them too!

Remember, once we start thinking we are better than everyone before we play them, we become just like the Titans fans.

by hoosierdore on Oct 2, 2009 1:47 PM EDT up reply actions

Exactly.

I was sure the Bears would tear up Seattle last week, but they’d have lost if Mare could kick a FG.

Any given Sunday. I hope the Colts never overlook an opponent. This is a professional sports team. If we fans are overconfident, that’s one thing. I just hope the Colts are ready.

by coltsfanawalt on Oct 3, 2009 4:47 PM EDT up reply actions

remember this isn't last year it is 2009!!

not even comparable for example last year titans were 13-3, this year they have already lost 3
