Got a ticket to the game, buying a jersey, need input!
So, my dad calls me earlier this afternoon and tells me that he's going to the Colts game this Sunday. His wife can't go, so he's giving me one of the tickets. Now, I've been on the fence about getting a jersey for a while, but this was the tipping point.
So, I need Stampede Blue's thoughts. Which jersey should I get?
Here's the criteria I've come up with:
1) No one not on their second contract. I don't want to get stuck with a guy that's going to be playing somewhere else in a year or two.
2) No wide receivers. Nothing against Reggie, Gonzo, Garcon, Collie, etc., but WRs just aren't my thing. The exception is Harrison, because his jersey is cheap and, well, he's Marvin Harrison.
3) No running backs. Mainly because I'm not sold on Addai getting a second contract with the Colts, and Brown is a rookie.
4) Name recognition outside of Colts fandom. Even if all us Colts fans know who Gary Brackett and Robert Mathis are, I'm gonna say that not a lot of other people do.
So, that leaves me with the poll. Manning, Sanders, Clark, Vinatieri, Freeney, and Harrison
- Everyone and their mom has a Manning jersey.
- Sanders has yet to play this season, and misses a good part of every season, and will probably have a shorter career than the others on the list.
- Clark is great, but like Sanders will probably have a shorter career than almost anyone else, except maybe Sanders.
- I'm not a huge Vinatieri fan, but we have the same first name, so it's enough for him to make the poll.
- Freeney is probably my front runner at the moment. Can't really think of any knocks on him other than 93 is probably the worst looking number of the bunch.
- Harrison hasn't officially retired, even if he's unofficially retired because no one is calling.
So, thoughts? And VOTE!
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

no bias
but I’m wearing a Dallas Clark jersey as I type this. :-) you can’t go wrong with #44!

Overthinking
Comes to mind. 93 is the worst looking number? What?

I voted for Freeney,
but you really need 18 as well. Freeney white, Peyton blue.

I just validated what I think you want to do anyway
#93
Also, I have a bias against white jerseys, so I vote blue.
How can you not love a team that does this?

That Colts vs Denver game is looking better and better.
Isn’t it funny how things have changed since we first talked?

For shame
that you do not have the Blue Jesus jersey. I know non colts fans that have Peyton jerseys. I mean sheesh.
As long as we have Peyton we will always have a chance to win.

Sounds like Freeney is what you want to go with
personally if I got a jersey (not big on them) it’d be Sanders.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

Freeney all the way
I just ordered and am anxiously awaiting my Freeney jersey. Can’t go wrong there. I am also considering getting a #93 jersey with “Madman Killer” on the back instead of Freeney. ;)

I have a
Bob Sanders jersey…I love it. You should go with #21. He’s a monster!

Well, just got back from Dick’s. Ran in to a good friend of mine from high school, and he got me a good deal on a jersey. When it finally got down to it, I knew that I couldn’t spend that much on a jersey of someone that might be gone in a few years, someone that might not have any name recognition outside of Indianapolis, someone that would end up in the “Really great, but not Ring of Honor/Hall of Fame great” category.
So, there was only one real choice. The one, the only, #18.

Love the Horseshoes.
Very cool gloss effect. I’m jealous! But inspired. I finally posted some things on deviantart. Link on my profile page.

If you're going to own just one jersey (or get your first)
it MUST be a blue #18!
