Week Five Early Games- Open Thread

The "bye week" for teams like the Bears and Chargers makes for some rather ugly looking match-ups on paper today. Raiders at Giants? Buccaneers at Eagles? Steelers at Lions? Vikings at Rams?

The only early game that seems to look interesting is the Bengals at Ravens, but that game could get ugly as well. Cincy usually does not fare well at Baltimore.

But, regardless, it's football, and as I recover on my couch from a late night of drinking, I'll pretty much take any game on the plate. This is your early games open thread. Enjoy.

[UPDATE]: Bob Sanders made the trip to Nashville with the team. Looks like he will try and play tonight.

31st vs 20th.

Mostly beer

Some Scottish ale whose name I cannot remember. Two friends of ours got married, and we partied hard at their reception.

me and my buddie talked about how much we hoped they didn't do it before the game

and were embarrassed when it happened. I blame everyone having an extra 4-8 hours (kickoff his usually 11am or 3pm) to drink before the game.

It should never happen

It makes it seem like the students gave the football team no chance to win, and it was so surprising to them.

I think that's just the nature of a portion of Iowa's fans

for example this was the celebration for clinching a share of the Big Ten title with a win at conference rival Minnesota.

I hope Bob plays so we can see some 3 safety sets instead of scraping the bottom of the CB depth.

even if it's limited snaps

I’d love to see Bob as an OLB instead of bringing on a 3rd corner.

Titans 3 wide= 4-3 with Bob at OLB

Titans 4/5 wide= nickel with Bob at OLB

BOB

Bob Sanders

“We live in a world that has walls and those walls need to be guarded by me, Bob Sanders. Who’s gonna do it? You? You, doubting colt fan? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Melvin Bullitt and curse the Defense; you have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Melvin Bullitt’s demotion, while tragic, probably saved touchdowns and that my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves touchdowns. You don’t want the truth because deep down in places you don’t talk about at parties you want me, Bob Sanders, on that wall, you need me, Bob Sanders, on that wall. We use words like honor, code, loyalty. We use then as the backbone of a life trying to defend something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to any fan who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said “thank you,” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest that you pick up a hemet and get in the game. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to."

I’m in South Orange County and believe me, with Laguna Beach here we almost qualify…not that there’s anything wrong with that. =-)

Sinorice Moss is cut

just gave the Raiders the ball in the red zone.

Then a DPI gives them first down. Why interfere with Raider receivers? Why even defend them at all, actually? It’s not like Offthemarcus can hit them.

Looks like a turnover TD for the Giants, though, but they say he was down, so it won’t happen either way. TERRIBLE call too, he was still vertical when the ball came out.
