Week Five: Indianapolis Colts (4-0) at Tennessee Titans (0-4)- Open Thread #3
Broadcast: NBC
SB Nation Co-Blog: Music City Miracles
This is open thread #3. As we thought, the Titans have come out fighting, and some uncharacteristic mistakes by the Colts have allowed the Titans to hang around. Colts offense got on track and drove 90 yards. Joseph Addai capped the drive with a one yard TD.
Prior to halftime, Peyton Manning hit Austin Collie on a 39 yard TD with 17 seconds before the half. The Titans were called for three personal foul penalties on the drive, all of which were roughing calls on the QB. Indy's drive before halftime covered 93 yards.
Enjoy this open thread.

My question
Why did we draft a fast, cushion CB (Jennings) when we have always liked physical, good tacklers like Marlin and Kelvin? The answer could be he was drafted to be the nickel, a position in which he isn’t thad bad…
Go Colts!

The only reason why the Colts are winning this game is because of Titans penalties
If it was for the penalties, then the game would be much closer
Same here.

Re: Jennings
Look… when he plays aggressively like that, I think he can be a solid player, honestly. He has loads of physical talent, he’s strong, hits hard, and has the speed to cover a lot of ground. When he wastes he physical gifts supplying too much cushion, he’s useless. If he plays like that, he can be a solid DB. He almost never does, so I guess the point is moot.

Jennings had position
Great D, plus the Titans suck ass so that helps.
Move that damn trunk out the way
Oh, you’re talking Donald…nevermind
"Do I believe in aliens?" Stephon Marbury asked. "I don't know, because I've never seen one. But I believe in Jesus because I saw him in the shower the other day."
Jennings has almost redeemed himself.
One more good play and he’s okay for the night.
"Peyton Manning feels no pressure, he applies it"
the thing about Manning
is that he wouldn’t begrudge anyone for pulling him just for a record
How can you not love a team that does this?
Nice run Brown

Hayden, Powers, Lacey, Rushing, Perrish Cox, Sanders, Bethea, Bullitt, Silva. I want that to be our secondary next year.

I would love to see them go deep to Pierre.

Bad decision by Manning
Very rare.

Actually Jennings must keep doing this to fully redeem himself.
I still don’t like him :)

Broken arm. Don’t like seeing that.

Yeah, too bad
He’s still a Colt, he’s still got the ring.
Jennings is a good gunner
hmm I’m going to go look up the cost of a minimum RFA tender
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
hmm
1.01 mil. Yeah that’s a bit much. I’d slap the 2nd round (1.5mil) tag on Bethea and Bullitt though

Jennings? Really?
He’s gone from doghouse —> deeper in the doghouse -→ on the verge of me cheering for him.
if I could give you points...
it would be a LOT
Go Colts!

Well
I’ll always cheer for him because he’s a Colt, but I will never think he is a quality cornerback.

I always felt he was pretty good at tackling
It was just about every other aspect of his game I don’t care for.
Hey pass rush... pin 'em back now

Freeney and Mathis need to get a damn sack

Vince Young...
thinks he would have won this game.
/sad future hall of famer on the bench.
Go Colts!

Nah
He’s delighted, because the sooner Collins gets yanked, the sooner he can take over in preparation for his Super Bowl win next year.

I liked Sessions little kick there
At the end of that play to keep the receiver from getting more yards. Very convincing to the receiver to not go any further.
The fact on Jennings is
the Colts have a decent lead so that forces Collins to throw. Thus Mathis/Freeney do their thing……and you happen to have alot of rushed throws. Instead of the play action which seems to get jennings. He makes the easy plays………..
FREENEY
finally gets a sack.

that's why pressure up the middle is so important to a pass rush
would have been no sack if Collins hadn’t been forced backwards

And that is why he plays D

Lacey has played well enough to deserve sympathy though haha
"Peyton Manning feels no pressure, he applies it"
He should have had it... there's no doubt...
Difference is that he hasn’t cost the team 3 plus points with bone-headed plays and he’s a rookie.

Lacey was thinking about Manning. He wants him to get his 300 yards.

Why does his helmet ride up so high on his head?
Combined with his beady little eyes, it makes him a lil creepy to look at.
On the other hand, I am grateful for his penalty gifts.
May the wind be always at your back, and may your placekicker have icewater in his veins.
Ah boooo Peyton
stop taking the high road and pad your stats a little bit. He better get the 300 yards before he comes out and Sorgi comes in.

Manning needs 13 more passing yards
so if he throws to the BACK of the end zone… does that count for an extra 10 yards? ;-)
How can you not love a team that does this?
