Manning wanted to differentiate himself from how New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady reacted in light of a similar, but softer, call in a Week 4 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
"I’ve never asked for a call, I’ve never clapped when they’ve made a call," he said. "I clap when we get the yards because of execution. The first one, I’ve had that hit before to the knee. I don’t know if I have to validate it or not, but I’ve got to see the doctor after this and get treatment. Obviously when you plant that left knee it’s in a vulnerable position, I wear that brace for that reason alone, hopefully it protects me there."
ESPN's Paul Kuharsky makes no mistake about it; that quote by Manning is a shot at Brady, who has acted like a whiny child regarding how he has lobbied for roughing the passer calls this year.

Am I the only one shitting myself
about Manning “seeking treatment” for his knee?
I mean, he was out there kicking ass even afterwards, but goddamn, I’ve had enough knee problems to last a lifetime.

An unprompted attack on Brady seems out of character for Manning
I wish someone would provide context for this quotation, for example, the question that prompted this answer from Manning.

Agree
I don’t even agree with his quote.
I have seen him on replays during games where he (Manning) has either asked for a call or applauded a call that benefitted the Colts. I wish the quote was more specific, as in, a call regarding the Brady Rule or just any call in general. If he means any call in general then that is a lie because he has asked for pass interference (just like every other offensive player in the NFL) during the course of just about any game they have ever played. It’s human nature.

To be fair...
On pass interference it’s assumed that the offense did execute, they just got mugged by the defense. You also have those 12-men-on-the-field penalties that Peyton loves so much, where the defense got tactically outmaneuvered by the offense. If Peyton gets those calls then he did his job, he’s allowed to enjoy it.
There’s a difference between those and pulling an Oscar performance because it’s your last chance to make first down. Or playing up an injury to give your defense a breather. Or any of the similar ass-pulls you see every week in the NFL.
Never approach a vast undertaking with a half-vast plan.
