Random Thoughts-Pierre, WIldcat...
Hey guys. First I'd like to open by saying the Titans game was GREAT! The crowd was SILENT. i loved it. I'd like to congratulate Indy fans, as there were many of us there. I would even go as far as saying it was 35% colts fans there. There were where i was sitting anyways.. ..
***
Ok so onto my post. At the game i was at, at halftime at around 3 mins to go before 2nd half kickoff the players came onto the field. Well special teams did... So Our #1 punter(i love a good pun) was kicking from the 40, and pierre was catching them in the endzone.. Then Pierre would throw it back to a titans worker, who gave it to a longsnapper who gave it to Macafee. I noticed Pierre was throwing a tight spiral, directly into the guys hands. I thought, ehh. Theyre pro's, everyone can. Then i noticed other players were throwing decent spirals, but not like pierres.
***
I wish i could explain how perfect these were. These throws were as perfect as Peytons. I am NOT exaggerating. So anyways him and Collie were throwing back and forth to warm up, and again i watched him throw. Again, perfect tight spirals, but this time they were to an On-The-Run Reciever(collie) and they were perfect Leads, with a tight spiral, right in the stomach.
***
So here's my question for all you AMAZING info getters. Has Pierre ever been a QB? in high school? College? And since this guy can catch, hes super fast, and young, maybe he can develop into a Wildcat(dare i say) weapo
***
I'd like to close by saying this. Ok guys i know the Wildcat is shot down around here. We all know that were not a tricky team, and were basic. i LOOOVVEEE that. But i think just to try it out, or maybe consider it couldnt hurt. We could be a textbook team for all but 5-6 snaps the ENTIRE year, but for the few events are offense is cold, (which isnt often) Run the wildcat ONE time, get the defense on their heels, and then Mannings back on.
***
Really consider it guys, and the next time youre at a game, WATCH HIM IN WARMUPS, this guy had my Jaw dropped

A very intelligent blogger brought up the point that a wildcat would take peyton out of the game. Maybe we could run our own form of wildcat. With Peyton and Garcon both in shotgun, both being eligible for a direct snap. Then we could have the great Peyt back there, as well as the explosive Garcon, Wayne and Gonze(collie) at WR, clark at TE. This would be extra complicated, but doing this could have manning back there to still cause problems for the defence, as well as call his audibles. And think, if our offense can preform with 200 Audibles pre-snap(some may be fake, but oh well) we can run this

I am not opposed...but
The reason people bash the Wildcat around here is because, if the Colts use the wildcat, they are taking the best player in the NFL out of the picture.

garcon could maybe run it for another team but on the colts he’s doin just fine catching balls from peyton and making great plays when he gets it…although that would be interesting to see from a colts team

That can be argued
I think with the INTELLIGENCE of our offense, instead of the wildcat, we could run our own form of it. Maybe with both peyton and Garcon back there, as dual QB’s. Then the D has NO idea who it’s going to. it could be very effective

Why in the world would you want to take a good receiver out of the picture and put him in as a QB? Besides, we have no idea how good a QB Garcon could be in a real game situation.
Oh no!

i do think we need to do more tricky running plays tho did you watch i think it was the cards game they did a couple diff looking running plays i think d clark ended up doing one running play and another one was pierre if i remember correctly

They ran something similar this week
I think Peyton faked a reverse to Pierre and then dumped a screen off to Brown. It got blown up which is a shame cause it was a great play design and could’ve gone for big yards.

I don't like trick plays as much
because trick plays will sometimes turn out huge chunks of yardage but also will have a much higher risk of a huge yard loss (or a fumble from a botched handoff, deflected lateral, etc).
Oh no!

Hunter Smith was a QB once
Hunter played QB in high school as I recall. I remember when he was actually listed third on the QB depth chart behind Sorgi. Whenever there was a 4th-and-2 just shy of FG range, I would wonder if we might fake a punt and have Hunter toss one downfield.
Yeah. I’ll bet you know how often that happened.
The thing is, even when the other team is 100% sure that Peyton will throw the ball, he still has a better chance of completing a pass than anyone else on the team. Even if it worked, would the result really be that much better than what Peyton usually does at QB?

absolutely not when you have the best qb in the league u let him decide what to do with the ball

Peyton Manning
is THE best quarterback in the league (probably all time). Why oh why would you take the best player to ever play the quarterback position off of the field? Why line him up out wide where a DB could get a cheap shot on him. Why have anyone but him take the snap. He needs to take every meaningful snap!!
Now on the other hand….if we have home field advantage through the playoffs locked up and we’re in the last couple of games. Break out the wild cat for a little fun. But meaningful snaps are for Peyton only. Let the artist work!
As long as we have Peyton we will always have a chance to win.

umm
All the thrown together “ooohhh Wildcat Shiny” packages have been next to worthless. The Dolphins have been successful because they had the element of surprise when it debuted and have committed to it since. Rewatch the Dolphins-Colts or last nights fins game. They’re successful with it now because they blow the opposing line away.

Plus they have the personel
They’ve really built their team around being effective in that set with the unbalanced line. It’s like screen plays, it’s not something you can just “do”, you have to live it.

It'll never happen.
We don’t need it. We have Peyton.
But I agree it would be fun to watch, maybe in a garbage game.

it might work with Pierre but there’s no way it would work better than how the offense works now.

Addai...
was also a HS QB I think. But I’m not a fan of it. When people other than the QB throw the ball, bad things happen more often than not. And as Shake said, you have to blow people off the ball the run the football, and the Colts don’t. So that takes most of the threat away from the formation.

Peyton to Garcon
Draws the defense, cross field 40 yard lateral to a wide open Reggie who sprints off to the other corner.

Itd be pointless
No matter how well we trick the defence, garcon wont be able to pass better then manning.

I don't know whch game you were at...
35% Colts fans? Uhh…no. At most 10%. They were where you were sitting? Could you not see the rest of the crowd?
The crowd was quiet? No, again. Not sure how you could even think that?

on the podcast BBS described what the Colts did as
ripping the Titans heart out and showing it to them.
On a scale of 1 to crying uncontrollably from the flashbacks, how accurate is that?

Love it.
Big papa colts bear protecting his young……not to put you in the same category as the bears,
I meant the real ones. You know, the ones you are actually afraid of? Not the ones that traded away the NFL’s leading rusher right now and a QB that is 5-0 in his new high sea level home.
Sorry for the confusion.
