Hypothetical: If you could add one player from another team..
So with all this Ed Johnson and Tony Ugoh and Matt Stover and Peyton Manning non-sense going on, (and part in light because of the MJD thread and part because we just did this exercise on a Penguins board), here's a hypothetical for you: If you could add one player from any team (current player, not like 'Tarik Glenn from 2003!), and his currect health (so if you want, say, Anthony Gonzalez, well, you can have him, but he's still out another month, or Jamaal Williams, out for the year, etc...). The only thing you DONT have to consider is salary cap. Just assume that the Colts would find some way to fit this person under the cap.
For me, its a tough one: Either Ryan Clady or Joe Thomas, I think. I was considering a DT, but the best ones in the league all seem to have issues (tommy harris and haynesworth come to mind as two of the better 4-3 DTs, and both are injury concerns). So I guess I go with ... Joe Thomas.
Any position, any price. Who ya got?

It's a toss-up....
…between Steve Hutchinson from the Vikings or Devin Hester. Big. beefy, run-blocking guard, or explosive kick/punt returner…in other words, one of 2 things we really don’t have.

Adrian Peterson
This one’s pretty easy. If we can get AP now and draft a decent RG in the Draft, we would have to be the scariest offense of all time (im even going a million years ahead in time). Our play action pass would work like magic.

I'm going OT with Thomas
Right now LT is the greatest need in my opinion. This may change if the run defense falls apart in the coming weeks.

I think I like Joe Thomas here...
A young franchise level LT which would allow us to reshuffle our offensive line for maximum effect. I’m thinking Thomas at LT, move CJ to RT, and slide Diem in to RG where he started his career.

Tom Brady
He’d be good running the scout team offense.

Love the Tom Brady one
I’ll go with Clady. In this offense, we don’t need amazing pass blocking, as shown by Charlie Johnson. Peyton gets it out quick, and people don’t rush us like they do other teams since Peyton loves to get blitzed (except by Pittsburgh in 2005). Clady is the superior run blocker between him and thomas. That guy is a beast.

Chris Kemoeatu or Patrick Willis
I think a guard who could open holes for the running game would improve protection for 18 as well as a better LT could along with aiding the play-action. On the other side of the ball, a beast at MLB is always a big boost. Either one is closer to the beginning of their career, which is a plus. If I had to choose one, I think I would go with Willis.

Easily.

yeah I think Clady is the best choice
CJ to RT, Diem to RG, OL=totally fixed.

I was thinking the same thing
but is he the best RG in the league? Probably not.
RG is a bigger issue than LT, I think. So the question is really whether the team would improve more by getting an elite LT and shifting CJ to RG, or getting an elite RG. It’s hard to say.
Either way, definitely an offensive lineman.

COME ON PEOPLE!
No one for Adrian Peterson?? Really
We would like to have Joe Thomas in the entire league. CJ is good enough and not the problem, a right guard is and we can get one in the first round next year. No way in hell can we get a player of AP’s caliber at pick no 32.

Not Peterson
Michael Turner…
The guy can pass block, run between and outside the tackles, and he’s the best all purpose back in the NFL right now…. Not to mention he has carried his team well in all of their games.
The Colts offensive line is adequate to the run game, the problem is we don’t have a great back. We haven’t had one since Edge left….and for all the naysayers, the bottom line is that Edge ran for 1500 yards his final season by himself… it took Dominic and Addai combined to run for about 1600….
Give me one legit back with Turner and I’ll call it a team.
What does adding one lineman do? It’s not enough overall…..and we don’t need a shut down corner…. the last time any ONE player torched us on offense….it was a running back, not a WR…
Bottom line, the Colts are pretty well set on offense and defense….but a good runner would make all the difference.
And the Falcons offensive line isn’t better than ours, because our offense features better weapons and a better QB except at RB…

ummm
Turner is averaging 3.7 YPC and has 3 fumbles in 4 games.
Pass
a left tackle would let them move guys into less demanding positions and improve multiple spots that way.

Okay...
Turner has a 3.7 YPC and 3 fumbles..
Has 323 yards rushing on 87 attempts in 4 games, 5 TD’s,
Colts have a 3.3 YPC and have 3 fumbles
394 rushing yards on 118 attempts with 5 TD’s…
(running by committee of i believe a total of 5 different players at RB)
Yeah, I’ll take Turner…

Forgot...
The Colts stats are for 5 games…which makes it even worse..

maybe you should take Peyton and garbage time carries for Simpson out if you want to post a fair comparison
Brown/Addai 3.4 YPC, a fumble per 53 carries
Turner 3.7 YPC, a fumble per 29 carries.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

what an upgrade
and that’s not considering the huge difference line play makes. FO ranks the ATL lines’ performance run blocking as 8th in the league and the Colts 17th.

and I don't see how you can call Turner an all-purpose back
when Addai has more catches threw 5 games (26) than Turner has in his career (18).

AND!!
Addai has one pass attempt!
For the Peterson/Turner people: A RB is nothing without a line. Remember how good Addai looked when we had a complete line? When he gets into the 2nd level, he’s more than serviceable, he’s just not a bruiser and isnt a BYOB (as polian would say)

I'm not trusting a fumble-prone RB like AD
With this embarrassing offensive line. That’s why I want Clady. Peyton needs a great O-line. He can get by with Brown & Addai, but I’m starting to get nervous about the right side of the line which is pathetic.

Easy
Just look at the player Ryan Clady turned into he’s the main reason Orton is having the year he is, I would love someone like that on the Colts. Also Patrick Willis, Steven Jackson, Ed Reed, Elvis Dumervile, Nnamdi Asamugha were considered.

It is a tough question...
I like Steve Hutchinson. All this talk about protecting Peyton…he seems to be doing fine…I want to upgrade the running game and Hutchinson is just the man for the job. Everyone has great suggestions.

It would be an offensive lineman
There are so many good choices to be had. I’d probably go Hutchinson, but there isn’t much of a gap between him and someone like Clady or Long
