Greatest Comeback in NFL history 35-14 with 5 minutes to go
I found this video in the Bucem blog, Greatest Comeback in NFL history by most standards, as no team ever came back from such a deficit with only 4 minutes left to go in the game.
Ronde Barber went in for a Pick6, and the Bucs were up 35-14 with 5 minutes to go. What happened next against one of the greatest defenses all time and in their house is just amazing, It was so crazy, Madden and Michaels are beside themselves at the end of the game.
Not a play is missed here in this full length 28 minute highlight movie.

It was Dungy's birthday too.
One of the Colts finest moments that practically nobody got to see. Most people tuned out before the Miracle started happening. That game went till way past 12:30.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
This game was one of those "I remember where I was at when that happened" moments...
My wife and I were at a friend’s for MNF having pizza and beer (imagine that) watching the game on his 60" big screen (a novelty in those days) and after the pick6 I went outside to stew and have a smoke. When I went back in the Colts had the ball and started the first drive of this great comeback. By the end of the game we were jumping up and down and hi-fiving everyone including the kids! After going home I stayed up til 3AM just watching the highlights and listening to the comentary. It was the LAST time I ever doubted the Colts could come back against ANYBODY!! This is a MUST SEE for all Colts fans and I believe to this day that this was the game all of our veterans remembered when they came back against the PATS in the AFCCG to take us to SBXLI!

Sad story
I was one of those who tuned out, had a big test the next day and thought the game was over so I went to sleep, next thing I know is I come school and my best friend was screaming at how amazing the finish was, I simply could not believe it, one of my worst moments as a fan I must say, lol.
I love this video
Although it does highlight the ugly truth that Vanderjagt was never clutch. Oh had we only realized then….
He really was a Shankapotamus huh.....

We got so lucky that field goal went through.
That $hitheap Vanderjagt tried his best to screw us.
"If God had wanted us to vote, he would have given us candidates."

LOL, was the crowd chanting "Shit call"?
That’s what it sounded like.
In the ref’s defense, his back was to the goalposts, he threw the flag without knowing if the kick had gone through or not. Also funny that the Colts played Simeon Rice in 07 after Freeney went down.
And God did Marvin ever have jets. That guy could just flat-out outrun you. Straight-line speed, all the moves, great awareness…such a crying shame he got rolled up on that run play. What a tragedy.
NFL Films Presents... a little help?
I’ve got the NFL Films treatment of this game stashed and would gladly share it is someone can offer a big of guidance on how to embed it here… also suggestions on where to host it would be appreciated.
you could try hosting it on vimeo.com
they have a limit of 500.00MB , do you have it on your computer? in what format? and how big is it?

Thanks! I’ve just registered at ExposureRoom.com and am uploading the vid now. Next step is to figure out how to embed it here.
thanks, can't wait till I have enough tiime to actually re-watch it
memories….
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
I love reminiscing about this game
there was the “other Ricky Williams” and James Mungro playing RB. Manning and Harrison cemented themselves in glory that night.
EVH+DLR=BFFr........ God I Hope So!!
One observation
Mike Vanderjagt is a moron… just watch 5:37
5-0 COLTS? Great!
Jaguars and Texans being 3 games behind? Awesome!
0-6 Titans? Priceless..
I believe that game elevated Peyton to elite status
I don’t think Brady, Favre, and definitely not Brees could’ve lead his team down the field to score 4 TDs in less than 4 mins in the 4th quarter just to force overtime. Peyton is clearly the greatest quarterback of this era.
"Do I believe in aliens?" Stephon Marbury asked. "I don't know, because I've never seen one. But I believe in Jesus because I saw him in the shower the other day."
That game marked the end of the Bucs
They were 3-0 going into that game and ended up 7-9 for the year.
It was all downhill from there.
"If God had wanted us to vote, he would have given us candidates."
Jay Leno
Only a Peyton Manning-led offense
could make a comeback like this. It’s funny, Michaels said ‘that seals the deal’ when it was 35-14. Didn’t he know Manning was playing? There were a lot of stars on that field in that game. I loved seeing Brook’s torn jersey. When Peyton started his 1:37 minute drill while starting from the 15 yard line, he only needed two plays to get the length of the field to the 5 yard line. Gruden looks like he saw a ghost after that Warren Sapp roughing the passer call. I absolutely forget how unreliable Vandershank was. That’s the only painful part of viewing this.
This is when vaderjagt was reliable. That’s what made the two overtime kicks that much more spooky.

Perhaps this is when ol' Chucky
started calling Peyton “The Sheriff.”
This was a GREAT game – at least the last 5 minutes – thanks for posting!
"I throw, you catch. It's NOT that hard!"

I remember watching this game, but the details of the comeback were hazy…thanks so much for finding this and posting.
I loved when Mungro got the TD to make it 21-35. Regardless of how fantastic the Colts have been this decade, the odds of a comeback when down by 3 TDs and 5 minutes to go are still quite long. I say that not to doubt my favorite team, but to emphasize just how skilled they were to be able pull it off. And when Mungro charged in for the aforementioned TD, Raymond James Stadium went dead silent…it’s like they knew despite the long odds, that they were in deep deep trouble.
What a great find
Scoring 4 TDs in 5 minutes, against a top-notch defense that hadn’t given up on the game. Now THAT is an elite performance.
How can you not love a team that does this?
They read the rule book on air, like, uh, 3 TIMES....
The call was by the BOOK!

Just like the tuck rule.......
Never used, but in the books.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: The national anthem of Greece has 158 verses. Wonder how long it would take to sing that before a game.
holy crap
On Barber’s pick-6 it looks like Marvin was quadruple covered!
Horrible decision by 18. They shoulda benched him…;-)
Ah yes, I remember how I loved fragile Brad Pyatt. Our only KR threat in living memory. What was he made of, paper?
The second—surprise—on-side kick was pretty cool. I had forgotten about that. I agree with Michaels/Madden—there were three Colts on that ball, how the hell did Stecker come up with it?
what fun.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
You don't remeber Clarence Verdin...What kind of Colts fan are you?

Some thoughts...
The Monday Night Football song was so cheesy… ‘Course, it’s only marginally better now.
I totally forgot about the wacky Doss interception/fumble/touchdown play – it gets overlooked because of the ending. This game was just full of crazy flukes for both sides.
I love Madden’s rambling description of the wedge. It sounded like one of Frank Caliendo’s impressions.
Another impressive thing I forgot – the Colts accomplished the comeback with only one timeout and the two-minute warning. Now that’s clock management.
Over the last couple seasons it’s become kind of easy to forget just how great Marvin Harrison was. He was a threat to go all the way down the field every snap.
You got that right (on all points).
Nice to see some positive analysis out of you, and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

wow that leaping call was some bull, i mean... really
i think we all know our greatest comeback was the one we don’t talk about because we didn’t quite finish it… :/
I disagree
It was bull (no disagreement there) but take out all the NFL games in history without a bad call and you’d have a short list. I always talk about this comeback! My teams have gotten their share of bull calls and I have to think ’ a team has to play well enough to take away the human error factor’. The TB D did not. The Colts offense shredded them and deserve every speck of honor that goes with ‘greatest comeback ever’. On the NFL network they showed this game and flashed to the sidelines where a Bucs player (probably the loudmouth wide reciever -can’t remember the name just now) said ‘So much for the great Payton Manning’ when the Bucs were way ahead. Beautiful revenge story…
This was my favorite game of all time, well except XLI
