2009 NFL Trading Deadline- Open Thread

The deadline is in 2 hours and 20 minutes. Will a big deal go through? So far, the only major trade is the Chiefs sending defensive tackle Tank Tyler to the tackle-starved Panthers in exchange for a 5th round pick.

Will the Colts make a move for Joshua Cribbs, Barrett Ruud, or anyone else?

Use this thread to chat away about rumors, possible trades, and actual trades as they happen.

Man, I need a life...

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: The national anthem of Greece has 158 verses. Wonder how long it would take to sing that before a game.

Don't you ever go to class?

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Oct 20, 2009 1:45 PM EDT up reply actions

Monday and Tuesday are my easy days.

Today, I had a class at 8:30 and will have another one at 3:30. Don’t have to leave for that one until 3:00.

nice

I once scheduled all my classes for Tuesdays and Thursdays only… it was like going to work as I was back-to-back from 8-5:30, but it made for an awesome rest of the week.

I'm doing this right now.

I recommend it. I spend a lot of free time doing homework. PSh I couldn’t keep a straight face on that. Seriously I play a lot of video games with my free time.

I have never seen Rudd play, so cant talk about him but Cribbs would be a great addition.

Ruud

I would not be disappointed if we got Ruud over Cribbs because I have seen enough footage of Ruud to know what he brings to the Table. He is a terrific MLB with excellent speed, run support skills, and coverage skills. A big time playmaker who always gives maximum effort.

Yes

He has the skills to be a damn fine SAM backer. The example I use is Rob Morris, only this guy is quicker, faster, and is better in coverage

Josh Cribbs

I know our ST blocking isnt great, but I think he can make something happen…are the Browns ST blockers really just that good?

The way our defense is set up, it puts me in situations where I'm one-on-one in making tackles on running backs. When I go into it, I think I am going to win. It really doesn't matter the size, height, weight, whatever. I'm not afraid of putting my body in there." - Bob Sanders

How realistic should this desire be?

… because if i could name one player, it’d be Tarik Glenn from back in the day. Sure, he “prematured” the snap more often than a teenaged male prematures something else after the prom, but dammit, when he was in, he kept people off of Manning’s back.

If anyone could name a left tackle who could approach that level, feel free. I’ll jump onboard. I just want to see someone more than just “adequate” fill that role. No offense to Charlie Johnson, but Glenn could be left out there by himself. That’s the sort of LT the Colts could use. Ugoh wasn’t it; Charlie needs help. Someone name one, and I’ll jump onboard.

Heheh... I only use it 'cause it cracks me up :)

I found it while reading Ebert’s review for Transformers 2, which apparently was bad enough to make the first movie look Oscar caliber in comparison. :-S

I’ll have to give it my Baywatch treatment, and just loop the parts with Megan Fox in it.

Mmmmm…. Megan Fox… (* drool *)

… under a different user handle that was too close to my real name, and remembering stories of ’net stalkings (I actually have some small reason to be wary of that), I transitioned to something different.

Yeah. I sock puppeted myself. But I wrote one of the blog founders here confessing this, and haven’t used the old identity since (well, actually, once by mistake because I moved between computers… but I swear, it was just that one time!!).

I just want Ruud really badly…so I will most likely be disappointed!! Before I knew he was a possibility I was watching the Panthers Bucs game and kept thinking what a beast he is!! Total hustle and effort. In other words…a perfect COLT!!

Ruud & Cribbs

Either one of these would help the Colts tremendously, but I’d lean more towards grabbing Cribbs. He’s an X-Factor who can change a game everytime he gets his hands on the ball.

Ruud is as solid a linebacker as they come in the NFL, and he reminds me of a younger, faster, meaner Rob Morris.

Agree...

The way our defense is set up, it puts me in situations where I'm one-on-one in making tackles on running backs. When I go into it, I think I am going to win. It really doesn't matter the size, height, weight, whatever. I'm not afraid of putting my body in there." - Bob Sanders

Florio:

Well, there’s been at least one deadline deal.

According to Jay Glazer of FOX, the Eagles have acquired linebacker Will Witherspoon from the Rams for receiver Brandon Gibson and a 2010 draft pick.

Witherspoon spent his first four NFL seasons with the Panthers, and he has spent the last three-plus in St. Louis, appearing in every game.

On Monday, Eagles coach Andy Reid hinted at a possible trade, and speculation centered on the linebacker position, given the recent injury to Omar Gaither.

Why am I feeling a bit disappointed?

We have the best team in the league and I wanted more? What the hell is wrong with me? Haha, seriously though, I was really pulling for Ruud to come down to Indy, but it’s not like we NEEDED to make any trades. I just think Ruud would thrive in our defense and could reach pro bowl potential. Plus, he seems like a really good guy from what I found on him and it’s a shame he’s stuck in the stinkhole that Tampa has become. Out of the two guys we were mentioned having interest in, I would prefer Ruud at a reasonable cost with a high return than overpay for Cribbs even if the return is huge (no pun intended), but would have been pumped to have either. Oh well, we’ll just continue to win without them…..and even TO. I cannot BELIEVE we did not offer anything for him (joke).

Best computer game I’ve ever played. We got it around 2000. I sucked then (being only 10), but a couple years ago, I became the 1st person in my family to beat a level deemed impossible by my older brother and dad (Kerrigan destroying the Terran-controlled Overmind). Then the very last level (Zerg vs. United Earth Directorate + Arcturus Mensk + Protoss) took me 3 full weeks in the middle of the summer to beat. It was a big day for me, as I was finally better at strategy games then my older brother and my dad.

I replay the game every now and then. It will be the best day ever for me when Starcraft II finally comes out. GET MOVING BLIZZARD!

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: The national anthem of Greece has 158 verses. Wonder how long it would take to sing that before a game.

crazy, isn't it.

Polian is so good he orchestrated this deal BEFORE YOU WERE BORN!

You know what's REALLY scary?

In a year or two, there will be players on the Colts that weren’t born when this deal went down. Crazy.

I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
