Favorable Schedule for Colts!

Looking at the Colts remaining schedule, it is very favorable for the Colts to get that all-important #1 playoff seed.   Starting 5-0, the Colts already have a two-game lead over every other team except Denver.

In the schedule rotation for this year, the Colts play the teams of the NFC West division, which appears to the weakest division in the NFC. Having already beaten the Cardinals and Seahawks, the Colts will play the Rams and 49ers soon.  No games against the Saints, Vikings, or Giants for the Colts, but other AFC top teams will have to play one of these teams.

Speaking of divisions, excluding the Colts, the AFC South isn’t exactly burning up the league.  The Colts will play a total of six division games and the Colts may lose one, but probably not.

Two of the Colts biggest competitors for that #1 seed will be Denver and New England.  The Colts get to play both of these teams and both games are at home.

Finally, with the one of the best fine-tuned passing offenses in history, one has to agree that the Colts prefer not to play in the bitter cold, windy or snowy weather conditions of December and January.  The Colts late-season away games are in Texas (dome) and Florida.  The only exception is the last regular-season game at Buffalo, which hopefully, by the 17th week of the season, will not mean anything and the Colts starters can stay close to the heaters on the sideline.

The stage is all set; now the Colts just need to win.

I don’t think we will (or actually want to) go 16-0. So which game(s) do ya’ll think we are going to lose? And by how much?

well if we can go 16-0, i say go for it, why not? it is an acomplishment to testament our greatness :P

but if i had to choose to drop 1 game and il prolly loose to whatever team i think i will face late in the playoff or at AFC finals.

I don't want to go through....

what the Patriots went through going 16-0. We don’t need that pressure. I think the ’85 Bears were actually relieved and motivated by their loss to the Fins.

that pressure could be turned

into confidence, which is as bad or even worse as pressure

Idk...if we go by your signiture

then 16 sounds pretty damn good to me. Cause the know DAMN SURE what they are doing!

The way our defense is set up, it puts me in situations where I'm one-on-one in making tackles on running backs. When I go into it, I think I am going to win. It really doesn't matter the size, height, weight, whatever. I'm not afraid of putting my body in there." - Bob Sanders

You make a good point....

Peyton does say that same thing and gives the credit to Chuck Knoll. If any team in the NFL could prepare properly for the pressure of a 16-0 season and win out in the Super Bowl, it would be the COLTS!!! GO COLTS!! LET’S GET 16 WINS AND SHOW THOSE SILLY PATRIOTS HOW IT’S DONE WITH A VICTORY IN SBXLIII !!!

I think that we'll lose to a team that can put pressure on the Quarterback

Denver and the Jets are the only two teams that have the personnel to do that. I think that the Jets game might be one that we lose, simply because they’ll be desperate by that point and will just be trying to fight for a playoff spot.

I honestly think if we were 15-0 going into the Buffalo game, that we would play to win. I mean our defense could easliy shut down Buffalo’s offense. Plus I think Peyton can pass effectively in bad weather, see game against Denver in 2002, it’d just be shorter passes instead of deep throws down the field. The only reason he was inneffective against New England in the two playoff games is because of the contact by New England’s DBs on our receivers and that he was under constant pressure, which combinded with bad weather conditions made it difficult to throw the ball.

I honestly think that 16-0 isn’t impossible, if Peyton continues to play at the level he’s currently playing at. I think we’ll go 15-1 and would be shocked if we were anything less than 14-2.

What about the Patriots....

Does everyone really think that’s a given? I think that will be the toughest game this year. Plus, if we lose to the Patiots in the reqular season, we’ll have more motivation when we meet them in the Playoffs (you know it’s going to happen).

so hard

don’t ever want to lose to them, but I agree – they will be tough. To me, it’s a toss-up, though, between the Patriots and the Broncos (at least where those teams stand now).

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Oct 20, 2009 7:08 PM EDT up reply actions

we wont lose to them

but since its the nemesis, we dont see the Colts losing to them. It will be tough indeed, but Indy has a superior team in every aspect so it should be a W.
I believe Denver will be harder, specially if they keep it up. Probably not unbeaten, but if they have only lost a couple, they will be motivated, specially since they love the Colts after all those losses

I don't WANT to lose to anybody...

The Colts most assuredly would be considered the GREATEST team ever if we could go 16-0 and win the SB! BUT, reality dictates (and the Patriots experience trying to do that) suggest it just isn’t going to happen. I would rather be 12-4 again and win a SB, then go 16-0 and lose in the playoffs or SB. The Colts are capable of beating anyone and everyone, but on “any given Sunday” things just happen. When will our “any given Sunday” occurr?

I think our loss will be

@Houston. That team played us close for 3 straight years now when we go to Houston. They are good, and have the firepower to play a shootout. Then, I think we can lose @Buf, when we rest people in Week 17. Although Buffalo is bad enough, we may win with our Second String.

BTW, I don’t want anybody ever going 16-0. Its not really a good thing. I am totally fine with those old guys in Miami keeping that mantle forever.

I don’t really care about going 16-0, I really want the the Colts to be the #1 seed, and play all their playoff games at home. And I think the schedule is favorable for them to get it.

Well,

I for one think it’s too early to even talk about 16-0. Let’s get to at least 9 or 10-0 before we talk about it.

It can happen, maybe it wont happen. All I know is I want them to win the Super Bowl. I dont care if they dont lose any of the regular season games or if they lose one, or six and go as a wild card…I DONT CARE, I JUST WANT THE FRIGGIN SUPER BOWL, and guys, that WILL happen..

i only see a few games that in my mind

will be competitive and could possible lose but it is looking like we are very strong and may not have trouble unless we lose one of the last ones because we use the 2nd string guys but idk

i think as far as a chance to lose cause compitition it is looking like our hardest games will be

NE, and the broncos but even they dont seem to bad as personally i dont think that brady is the player he was before and think with the pass rush we bring he will struggle

by TheAngelsColts on Oct 20, 2009 11:49 PM EDT up reply actions

I called 13-3 at the beginning of the seasons with loses:
@Houston (Tough game. Houston is much better than their 3-3 record).
@Jags (Should be a good ole fashion AFC south slugfest)
@Bills (insignificant game. AFC South will be wrapped, we will have the 1 or 2 seed and Peyton will have the head set on with 8 minutes left in the 1st quarter and a 7-0 lead. Hopefully we will get to see how much better Painter is than Milhouse).

Pats, Jets and Denver will all be character games. I think we win all 3. I also think Manning picks up a 4th MVP.
