Titans coach Jeff Fisher kindly tells these two fans to "rethink things." (AP Photo/John Russell)

Jeff Fisher keeps it real, emphasis mine:

"It was for a very, very worthwhile cause, charity," Fisher said. "I was introducing Tony, just having fun with it and I really apologize if I offended anybody, but if you’re offended over the nature of that type of thing, then I think you need to rethink things.

I'm glad Fisher inserted that little "suggestion" at the end.

Once again, it's a charity event for a worthy cause. During the event, Fisher decided to jokingly welcome speaker Tony Dungy to the event by wearing a Manning jersey and poking fun at Tennessee's current 0-6 record.

It really is nothing, and if fans or the Titans ownership are not pleased by this, then (if I may be allowed to use a phrase of another generation) Titans fans and ownership need to get bent.

Seriously, IT'S CHARITY!

I can't believe I need to stress this, but charity is more important than friggin football. And if Fisher donning a Manning jersey helps earn a few extra bucks for a worthy cause, it's worth it and people should just shut up already. And if people think this is something that should get Fisher fired for, then by all means do it! I have absolutely no problem seeing the Titans cut off their nose to spite their face.

Hey, rumor is that hotshot play caller who "coaches" the Washington Redskins might be available soon. I bet you he won't show up to any charity events donning a #18.

Honestly, if anyone is still pissed about this thing, including (maybe) absentee Titans owner Bud Adams (he lives in Texas), they really need to rethink their priorities in life. I personally think most Titans fans, once they've gotten over the initial "What the hell is this?" moment have moved on and really don't care.

Easy for us to say

We’re the ones with a 5-0 team. They’re the ones with a 0-6 team that was 6-0 this time last year.

I’m sure the Titans fans will find their perspective again but for now they’re still feeling butthurt. They’re only human, not an invincible cyborg sent back from the future to score touchdowns and destroy all life like Peyton Manning.

I agree,

He was trying to raise money for a cause. The context of his actions make it OK.

sometimes however people have trouble seperating football from the rest of life but

they got to figure it out while those who can seperate the two do so.

And I like him even more in a #18 jersey.

I think any die hard fans intially would be upset by this but

any rational human being would have a change of heart after considering the cause and context of the situation. If not then you have some problems.

It's still ok for Titans fans to be mad.

It’s week seven, and the Titans head coach thinks they’re a joke. I also don’t believe that Fisher wearing a Colts jersey somehow brought in a lot more money than if Fisher would have made some other joke that wasn’t at his team’s expense or just introduced Dungy in a normal manner. Maybe Peyton himself was compelled to give to the charity because of it. I don’t know, but I doubt it.

Don’t get me wrong, as a Colts fan, I find it HILARIOUS. However, I don’t know how you can publicly call your team a bunch of losers, joke about how terrible they are, and then convince them to play hard for you the rest of the season.

TIT fans...

are sensitive as hell. i have a theory as to why. most of us (colt fans/former Houston fans/Jet fans, etc) have grown up with our team, it’s been a part of the city for generations. our dads and their dads also loved that team. in Tennessee, they recieved a “transplant” team, meaning, those fans don’t have a real appreciation for what it means to be an NFL fan. which is why they don’t think that they are cursed, or why they don’t believe IN curses. it’s because those fans grew up in a state of “suspended animation” …. meaning because it hasn’t always been a part of them, they are still “learning” how to be fans. which is why you see incidents of towel stomping and the like. or why even over on MCM they ban ANYONE who says anything remotely sideways about the team, or the players.

I don't know...

the Colts have only been in Indy for about a generation or so….LOL…my dad is actually a Browns fan…he grew up in Cleveland. Sorry for him HaHa!!

agreed

The Colts are also a transplant team. Not only that, but the Colts only became big in the city when they started winning. The Titans have been huge in Nashville ever since they arrived. Some of the points are certainly valid, but not comparing Indy and TN.

Also, as another side, there are ALWAYS segments of fans that are more sensitive than others for every team. It’s usually the sensitive ones we hear about, because they whine too damn much.

Better video footage of the stunt

This video clip from this news station of Fisher at the charity event shows Fisher do the jersey thing and also the terrible towel comments.

Fisher’s terrible towel comments aren’t getting as much press, but I think they were hilarious. I’m surprised more people who are mad over the jersey aren’t venting more over Fisher calling those Titans players knuckleheads or mentioning their failure to win since the December incident. I guess the jersey is more sensational, though.

Anyhow, watch the video link if you haven’t seen it already.

I'm officially a fan of Fisher

I never really cared for him, but after watching that clip, I like him. He deserves a better organization than the Tits.

you need to lighten up

this was a charity event and it was all in fun, your problem is not jeff Fisher, the problem is the team quit of him Sunday your premadonnas were too cold and did not give a crap about the game, the coach was trying to shame the players into playing good football,The coach did not want that bumb you Call V.Y. Vince Young but was forced to take him by the owner of the titans,he wanted a good qaurterback in the offseason but front office was too cheap and already have so much money tied up in the first round draft bust V.Y. Titans could not affored another Q.B. and Collins has had it he is washed up, Fisher needs to step down and take a job with one of 10 teams that would hire him today and it would be funny to watch you fans sufer with a bumb like Dick Jearord or some looser coach like Jim Hasslett and see how you like that BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR ,YOU JUST MIGHT GET IT……

terrible towel crack

.. is even funnier than the jersey. I can appreciate someone who doesn’t take himself too seriously. This really puts a different perspective on Fischer the person. I do have more respect for him after this than I did before..

Nitpicking....

There’s no c in Jeff Fisher’s name. I don’t know how that spelling caught on, but more people are doing it now.

Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Man, I need a life...

I got yelled at for spelling it that way on MCM

but I have the excuse of a buddy with the last name Fischer

It's an overreaction

But it’s an overreaction I could see a lot of Colts fans making too.

It’s easy to sit on a high horse when you’re 5-0, but when you’re 0-6 and your coach is taking the piss out of your own team, it probably hurts just enough that it’s hard to keep things in perspective.

So Titans fans are wrong, but understandably wrong, if that makes sense.
