Week 8: Friday Injury Report
The news is good as 5 injured/sick players returned to practice today. Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Eric Foster, Jacob Tamme, and Ramon Humber were back practicing fully. Missing a 3rd practice this week were Donald Brown, Anthony Gonzalez, Marlin Jackson and Adam Vinatieri.
Bob Sanders was back at practice after a day off. Tony Ugoh got the day off and taking part of today off to rest was Peyton Manning, a quite rare sight.
OUT: Anthony Gonzalez, Marlin Jackson, Adam Vinatieri
DOUBTFUL: Donald Brown
QUESTIONABLE: Dwight Freeney, Reggie Wayne, Eric Foster, Jacob Tamme

Wait... what?

Maybe it is a halloween prank on us… to scare us.
And that does scare me… a lot.
Go Colts!

You beat me to it, MH
What do we make of Peyton’s absence? Did he want to go home early to carve his pumpkin for the trick-or-treaters?
How can you not love a team that does this?

So was Sorgi running
the first offense today? Eeek…that’s scary. I guess they want to scare us being Halloween is tomorrow

it was listed as resting
and he had limited participation. Maybe it’s an extension of the offseason/preseason pitch counts he has to save his arm.

If that's the case
Good, I hope he was just resting his arm and not having problem with his knee(s). I noticed he was kind of hopping on his right knee during one of the drives last week in St. Louis; I was little concerned if it was something lingering from the Tenn game.
"Do I believe in aliens?" Stephon Marbury asked. "I don't know, because I've never seen one. But I believe in Jesus because I saw him in the shower the other day."

That was my thought EXACTLY...
… because if Manning’s wheels are starting to creak, I’m really, really concerned. He hasn’t taken a really bad hit this year, but there have been a couple of collisions that were low, and yeah, I could see any one of them aggravating his knees.
Gawd, I hope that’s not the case. I hope it’s nothing more than a case of keeping him as fresh as possible.

I'm worried that isn't the case, tho.
He’s been on his “pitch count” officially since last season.
He’s never missed a practice since last year with the surgeries.
I’m thinking he’s ill. Can he get better in a day and a half?

Ditto.
The first thing I thought when I saw it was: somebody got him sick. There’s been a few guys each week listed as ill.

Mannings day off
Was probably spent watching film on the next five opponents

Yay, for Reggie.
He had me worried.
Peyton probably had to take the afternoon off to donate a kidney or something.

Yes, a sigh of relief for Reggie
I don’t think Manning would be so “selfish” so as to donate a kidney during the season. “Can you put the recipient on dialysis until March? Hey, I’ll throw in an autographed football…. and my appendix. Great.”
Maybe it was taking extra time to apply Frankenstein makeup to his fivehead.

Manning
Something I noticed in the game last week was they ran a toss play a couple of times to Addai instead of the stretch. I was a little worried about it then because they used that last year only because Peyton couldn’t move well with his knee. Hopefully I am over thinking it.

Peyton has done that a lot recently.
It’s basically an extended handoff. Expect to see a few of those Sunday.

Lacey fined 10k
Don’t know if anybody’s gotten this yet, but Shefter reported that Lacey got fined by the league for his “excessive” celebration.

He did a long knee slide in the endzone
someone though he threw the ball into the stands but idk about that and the replays cut away too soon to be sure.

WHAT??? That's bulls#^$#!
Lacey gets fined, and a whole lot of worse stuff goes untouched? That’s a load of crap; why would the league fine him?
Here’s to hoping that Shefter just got it wrong. Because if he didn’t, I just lost a lot of respect for the league.

Oh, man, that stinks.
Indystar’s got the story now too. Twice, actually, one by Chappell, one by Phil R.
Color me disappointed in the head offices, then. If they think that’s finable material, then there’s something wrong with the rule.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Viz Media (The creators of my absolute favorite show of all-time and inspiration to my avatar, Naruto) just announced a partnership with the channel Disney XD to bring the English-dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden (The continuation of the Naruto series) to that station with a new episode airing each week, starting, well, NOW. With the series recording I just put on it, this is one of the greatest days I've had in a long time. I'm not kidding. I love the show that much.

Getting something back for all we spend on the sport?
Well, waitaminute… come to think of it, I’m not spending anything beyond what I pay for cable. Huh… wonder what percentage of my monthly bill represents football viewing? :-)

donate your portion to me. My family has season tickets. We spend much more than your cable bill.

Don't overlook any Colts'
items you may have purchased: jerseys, t-shirts, sweatshirts, etc…
the NFL gets a portion of those proceeds as well, and the stuffs expensive!

I'll tell you why, because the penalty was widely criticized.
Goodell did it to send a message that he’s calling the shots and can’t be criticized, like some banana republic dictator, that’s why.

YES!
This was basically the best news realistically possible today. Wayne is playing, and the other new faces were either just resting or are over whatever their injury was. It’s a good day.

What's going on with Gonzalez?
Hello Colt fans,
Just curious about Gonzalez. It seems like this injury is dragging on longer than anticipated. Was it more serious than thought? Did he have a set back? When is he really expected to return?
Air Cassel - approved for takeoff

When he was initially injured
I think they conjectured 2-6 weeks, then it was increased to 4-8 weeks. We are approaching week 7 now, and I thought I read that he got some limited reps in practice (or maybe non-contact drills only). Either way it sounded like he might start practicing again next week – within the range they guessed, but definitely at the long end.
How can you not love a team that does this?

like every serious, but not season ending injury..
He’ll be back for the patriots game. (sorta tongue in cheek, but that seems to be how most injuries work on the COlts. Watch: Jackson will play again against NE, as will Brown. They will even sign Marvin Harrison and Tarik Glenn out of retirement for that game)

You're right. In addition, I've heard that
Steve Emtman, Cornelius Bennett, and Eric Dickerson have all been in for workouts recently… just in case.
In the time it took me to type this, Tarik Glenn false-started twice and Emtman blew out another knee, while Bennett tackled Dickerson as he was rushing out to buy a few more mirrors. Sitting about a mile away on the end of the bench, Harrison was thinking about TastyKakes.
