Wildcat? Perhaps a Player on this Roster can Make it Happen
While looking being bored here at home, I decided to look up some things about undrafted rookie Jacob Lacey. I wasn't able to find much, but I did stumble upon his Rivals.com profile and learned that he used to play QB in High School. Sure, that was a long time ago and he may be a bit rusty, but check out some of these highlights. They look exactly like a few wildcat plays. Now I know what your all thinking, why take the ball out of 18's hands? Im not here to advocate that the Colts run the Wildcat consistently (consistently being using it in multiple games) but as we have seen in the past the Colts aren't inclined to using a few trick plays every now and then. We have seen it in Jacksonville back in '05 and in two playoff appearances against the Pats back in '03 and '04.
I realize the Wildcat isn't very popular here as its not really necessary for this offense and we simply hate its guts after what it did to our defense. Still, I think its something to consider since most teams wont expect any gadgets to come from the Colts.

You of all people metal_militia!!!!
We have THE GREATEST quarterback of ALL TIME. Why in the hell would we take the ball out of his hands for even one snap. Blasphemy I tell you! BLASPHEMY!!!!!!
On a different note, line him up at wide receiver, let P-Money throw it to him then lacey throws it deep after the safeties have bitten. I like.
As long as we have Peyton we will always have a chance to win.

come on MM you're better than that
Peyton is averaging 9.1 ANY/A not even the Phins wildcat when it’s just killing a team gains 9 yards a play.

hence the disclaimer i put at the end of my fanpost
It was a risky proposition and I paid for it by getting flamed. Can’t say I wasn’t warned. I lll just stick to my “Five Things I Think I Know” segment. At least there, I receive praise rather than get torn down. I just laughed as soon as i saw all of these comments. In fact Im still laughing about it right now.

But you just did.
So you lied to us.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Viz Media (The creators of my absolute favorite show of all-time and inspiration to my avatar, Naruto) just announced a partnership with the channel Disney XD to bring the English-dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden (The continuation of the Naruto series) to that station with a new episode airing each week, starting, well, NOW. With the series recording I just put on it, this is one of the greatest days I've had in a long time. I'm not kidding. I love the show that much.

im pretty sure addai was a quarterback at hs too.
so if we ever try it, he’s probably the guy.

I hesitate to point out that....
Joe Addai was also a HS QB and pretty good as well. He’s lefty, too, so that throws in a bit of the unexpected.
Except that I saw him on a HB option once or twice, running to the left, and the D apparently expected it. It’s a genius move only if nobody expects it and you can execute well. We were 0-2 with Joe trying to pass, IIRC. If we throw Jacob in the backfield everybody will be saying “okay, funky shit coming on one, ready break!”
Miami has a really beautiful system for their roster. I kind of envy how Ricky Williams is still throwing down 50 yard runs while Edge is in drizzly Seattle begging for the ball. Yes, I much prefer Edge’s career, but I know he could still produce. I am happy for Ricky that he is producing after so many, inlcuding himself… and me, wrote him off. But with Edge was getting opportunities…. sniff.
Bottom line, it’s just not what we do. A flea-flicker is about as close as we’ll come to it with 18… he’s just the best player on the field EVERY PLAY OF EVERY GAME and it makes the most sense to have him do what he does best.
My $0.02.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

Can't take the ball out of Peyton's hands.
Ever, for any reason.

No team can do it like the Dolphins so it isn't even worth consideration and I'm sure your team feels the same way.

I agree.
The Dolphins are built for the wildcat. It’s fun to watch as long as they aren’t playing the Colts. =-)

Bwa -ha-ha-ha
So after all this discussion, mention of Addai’s old QB skills, how important it is to keep the ball in 18’s hands (even at the risk of starving him, apparently) it turns out to be an Addai to Waybe TD that seals the niners game.
Okay, so I was wrong. Glad to be so.
I also love this: Manning’s worst game of the season—347 yards and no INTs. His worst is better than most guys’ best. Just amazing.

still wasn't a wildcat set
I actually really liked the way they did this years trick play, it’s off of a basic staple of the offense so it’ll give the corner and safety on the side the stretch is run to some pause the rest of the year.

WHICH ONE OF YOU IS POLIAN?!!? I demand to know, dammit.
I think it was BBS’ post where someone talked about Addai having been a QB in high school.
(whispers)
Bill, if you are out there, how do I get a field pass? We’ll keep it our little secret. Very hush, hush. lol
