Peyton Manning

Peyton freakin Manning. The love of my life. The reason for the Colts greatness. He just threw for his 4th straight 300 yard game this season (first time in his career). FYI we've only played 4 games. As of right now he has threw for 1336 yards. It is really hard to believe that he will stay on this kind of pace.

1336 x 4=5344.

Is it really hard to believe he could throw for over 5000 yards even with our run game picking up?

Personally I think its not out of reach but he won't make over 5000. I'm thinking just over 4600.

What do you guys think about Blue Jesus? (yea I said it)

that should be a plural

“smart guy(s)” who said he was done. Those people would include JAgs, Titans, and Texans fans (with a side of other afc teams/rivalts)

Damn Lori,

I just saw your husband coming out of a pawn shop with a high powered rifle and a map to the Colts Book Depository!

LOL- I'm married?

I forgot.
Actually the husband doesn’t mind, I get away with it because it’s football.
How can a guy complain about a wife who loves watching football?

My wife of thirty years

Came to the bar and watched with me for the first time this Sunday. Guess she got tired of sitting home watching crime shows while I eat my breakfast burritto and drink beer (after 11:00). Now, since the Colts won, she has to keep coming until they loose. Before the game, I told her if we loose, she can never come again. Kinda like changing your socks, you know?

by tim55 on Oct 5, 2009 10:47 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

For the first time in 30 years?

What took her so long? I hope she watches a LOT more games with you in the weeks to come. Maybe she’ll fall in love with the Colts like I did, then join SB, and there’ll be one more female fanatic for you guys to joke about. LOL-

We need to have an intervention with your husband. He's very misguided!

haha

Im down! She says she hates the Colts, but honestly I think shes too proud to say she likes them. Shes dissed them for so long. But last year when the Colts played the Chargers in the playoffs I made her watch it with me and Manning was throwing a deep ball to Wayne to take the lead and she got all excited and then slipped through his hands and she sighed…but soon after relized what she had done and was back to her Colts hater ways lol

Shes so cute =)

LOL

After Brady went down last year, I kinda liked the Pats – or hated them less.

I’m right back to my hating ways this season. Thank goodness my husband’s a Giants’ fan.

yeah

I still didn’t like the Pats, and now that they have spread their seed to KC and Denver, I don’t like those teams either (and I used to like them both). Well for KC, it was more pity, and of course my love of Tony Gonzalez.

Given the lack of quality opponents

This year for much of the next few games, there is a really good chance that Peyton does indeed throw for more than 5000 yards. In 4 games, he has almost 1350 yards…

Up next we have…

Titans
Rams
49ers
Texans
Patriots
Ravens
Texans

Now the upside here is that the Texans and Titans have both given up huge yards to the passing game, and we know how well Peyton can play against those guys…The only 2 teams that are even any concern are the Patriots and Ravens….and both of those defenses gave up over 250 yards passing to each QB today when they played…

And seriously, who has better weapons on offense than the Colts??? Perhaps the Cardinals, but we saw how that worked out…

My guess is that Peyton is going to be up around the 3200 yard mark by the second Texans game….(keep in mind Peyton averages about 250 a game for his career..so I’m actually being conservative here…)

by DevilsReject on Oct 4, 2009 6:55 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

good post devils

I just heard the stat today that the baltimore ravens have the #30th ranked pass D in the league…..they had better hope that they can get to peyton BEFORE he throws it. Ed Reed can’t do it all by himself.

by harbaughmyhero on Oct 5, 2009 7:16 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Actually, I just did the math.

46,964 career yards divided by 180 games = 260.91 yards per game (career average)

X 12 remaining games = 3,131 yards + 1,336 yards (thru first 4 games) = 4,467 yards

That would be the 2nd highest season total in his carreer and only 90 yards short of his best season of 4,557 in 2004.

But that’s only if he plays average (for him) thru the rest of the season.

He needs to average 305.4 yards/game for the rest of the season to break 5,000 (5,001 yards)

by HoosierHorseman on Oct 10, 2009 11:37 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I don't think he'll need to

And he hasn’t really played a defense that can defend the pass yet. I don’t think his early stats will continue for the rest of the season, but a 4,000 yard year is likely.

by eltharion_doa on Oct 4, 2009 8:17 PM EDT reply actions   0 recs

He'll get 4,000 without breathing hard

Peyton already holds the NFL record for 4,000 yard seasons with 9.
Marino is a distant second with 6.

by HoosierHorseman on Oct 10, 2009 11:45 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

I looked up the most consecutive 300 yards passing games

and three quarterbacks are tied at 6:

 Steve Young, San Francisco, 1998
Kurt Warner, St. Louis, 2000
Rich Gannon, Oakland, 2002

There are also three players at 5 consecutive games:

Joe Montana, San Francisco, 1982
Kerry Collins, N.Y. Giants, 2001-02
Drew Brees, New Orleans, 2006

Damn, Collins used to sling the pigskin like that?!

He said that racial slur to my cousin Muhsin Muhammad

My mom doesn’t claim him; I mean it’s not like he’s Reggie Wayne or someone, lol.

His dad is such an asshole though. At my grandfather’s funeral in Indy a few years ago, this clown introduced himself as Muhsin Muhammad, Sr and he his son, Mushin Muhammad, Jr plays for the Chicago Bears. My dad didn’t know who the hell he was talking about.

Peyton is third on the list of career 300 yard games with 57

Right behind Favre with 59. Marino is first with 67.

Back before his problems

Kerry Collins was a baller. Guy took his first 2 teams to the NFC Championship games….and has played in 1 SB…

Unfortunately, injuries, addictions, and well…playing with the fumble-rooskie prone Tiki Barber derailed his career…
