A New Colt Attitude?

Now you can call me crazy if you like, but through these first 4 games.....this team seems to have a new attitude...and I like it. We all remember the disappointing playoff losses where teams just seemed to out muscle us on 3rd and short, or the specific play where Dominic Rhodes was stripped by Tedy Bruschi in the playoffs.

No More.

These young guys on the team now, (Pierre Garcon, Jacob Lacey, Jerraud Powers) they seem to bring an angry sort of swagger to this team. Powers is an excellent physical corner who isn't afraid of playing up tight on receivers and can bring the lumber on each hit. The same goes for Lacey. However, there was one play in particular that stood out to me IMO.... The Pierre Garcon stiff arm of Rodgers-Cromartie, which WASN'T a penatly, but that's beside the point, just seemed to have a "you're not stopping me from doing what I have to do to win" kind of attitude. I know, we always want to win, and we aren't a finesse team like some people like to claim we are, but this kind of....dare I say, "swagger" by these younger guys just makes me smile knowing that we have a sort of "F you" attitude to WHOEVER we play. We will not be intimidated by ANYONE at anytime...

What do ya think?

I've noticed it as well.

Things are different this year, no doubt about it. It’s a whole new attitude. Of course winning helps. I’ve never seen Peyton so animated on the sidelines. I don’t recall ever seeing him hugging guys the way he was yesterday.
Yesterday’s game was magic.
Edge was here.
Peyton breaking or tieing records.
A defense on fire.
Perfect day.

"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino

I agree

There is a new attitude with this new Colt team, but I just hope its a good one. I want our talking to be done on the feild and not in the press room. As long as it stays that way then it should be a very helpful attitude. But the Colts are one of the most respected franchises in the NFL I really dont want to see that respect deminish, so lets keep this winning attitude and lets win us a super bowl!

GO COLTS!

amen

How can you not love a team that does this?

couldn't agree more

so far so good, as long as we walk the walk without even talking the talk in the media room then we’re good

Only got to see bits and pieces of the game yesterday...

And that was on the RedZone freeview. What I have seen though (the Cardinals game, plus highlights) is impressing the hell out of me. I love the Colts, always will…but I REALLY LIKE this team this year. The Miami game (on radio while I was working) scared the crap out of me, but also impressed me too.

I feel even better about this year’s Colts already than I did about the 2005 team. Here’s hoping that 2009 brings about a result more along the lines of 2006 though!

the stiff arm

was my favorite play this season (although Dallas Clark’s 80 yard catch was nice), because it’s not something i remember seeing from the colts. They don’t pound the ball and punish defenders. Manning makes defenders feel emotionally and mentally bad, guys like Brandon Jacobs break bones. I want to see some of this from Addai, hard running and stiff-arms are awesome to watch.

A question of style

Addai has always been a slasher-type back, relying more on speed and agility going back to his LSU days. I think that’s one of the reasons he was so sub-par last year; his step was gone from his injury.

Brown strikes me as a little more a brusier.
