Monday Night Football Open Thread

Packers @ Vikings, although everyone in the media thinks Brett Favre is playing by himself.  Thankfully for him, he has Adrian Peterson, and a pretty good defense playing with him.

Fantasy wise I need Purple Jesus and the Packers Defense to combine for 89 points.  That's 300 yards rushing, 6 TDs for Peterson, and 4 Turnover Touchdowns, and 3 sacks for the Packers defense.  So there's a chance...

Discuss away.

Just an off week

Played against Mendenhall and 49ers defense. I’ll take a beat down anyday over a 1 point loss.

Just trying to get ~40 to stay up with the points leaders. I like my team, but just had a bad week. It happens.

Stampede Blue League

Need 17 points from Rodgers, Longwell, and Packers D. I think I will get that to go to 4-0, even without knowing Willie Parker was not going to play.

In Over-Overflow league, Chester Taylor, Driver, and Packers D vs. Crosby and 28 points. Not so confident with that one.

that was last year

last year he had a bit of the rookie tendency to run when it wasn’t necessary. Totally understandable.

He’ll probably move around a bit more than he has to for a while… but at least he throws well on the run. As well as anyone in the game, actually.

depends on the play calling

if Favre isn’t allowed to throw downfield, it won’t be him.

If the Packers don’t get a pass rush (hard to do with that running attack and the quick release/short throws anyway) it’ll also be hard for Favre to screw up.

by willyduer on Oct 5, 2009 9:15 PM EDT up reply actions

That was a hell of a throw

and while the other WR downfield ended up not blocking the one guy, he was at least doing the right thing, looking for someone to hit.

The Packer OL looks completely overmatched. Pretty cool for them that it’s 7-7.

Wish they were zoomed out more though so we could see when WInfield broke on that. He was giving almost 10 yards of cushion on that, but easily beat the receiver to the ball, which was thrown low and away. Fine throw, but obviously telegraphed.

They could be the worst in Monday Night history

Gruden’s a complete turd merchant, and Jaws is annoying as usual. Maybe the Kornheiser trio was worse, possibly.

That Eagles game was the year before I

became a serious fan (Hey, I was 12). I remember that we went to a laser tag place during that game. I remember being absolutely shocked that we won that game. Same thing that that 35-7 or something Titans game that year. Didn’t see the game, was absolutely shocked when I saw the score in an Outback Steakhouse later that day.

That is what Favre brings to the table

he throws it to a receiver who isn’t looking, yet somehow that’s a GOOD THING?

Harris would’ve taken that for six if he had been paying attention.

You’re down 14 in the 4th quarter and it’s 4th and 1. You’ve had two possessions all goddamn half.

WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU PUNTING?

I never thought I’d say this… but the Vikings win at Coach too.

This is a pitiful showing for everyone on the Pack except Rodgers. But he’s not quite Manning, so he’s not going to pull this one out of his butt.

was as stupid as the Bucs going for a field goal on fourth down and the end of their game with the Redskins. A TD would have won it. Instead they were content to pull within 3 points with just a few minutes left. What gutless swine.

This line is awful and they’re not even rushing many guys, so the receivers are covered.

What’s sad is that there could be 3 or 4 more sacks tonight too if Rodgers wasn’t so mobile.

He’s going to end up with awful happy feet in future games, where he’s running when he doesn’t have to, because he is going to have no trust at all in his line.
