Terrible play by him. He's got the flat, f-ing you've got the slant.

Gruden on MNF during the Packers' last drive after James Jones catches a pass from Aaron Rodgers and runs for 34 yards before the two minute warning.

Did anyone else hear this? I was watching one of the feeds available at channelsurfing.net, and they didn't go to commercial for the two minute warning. You could hear the MNF hosts still talking although they sounded like they thought no one could hear them. None of them could believe how the Vikings blew the coverage, and Gruden was yelling at the player like he was the coach of the Vikings and that player could hear him.

did he also yell at the Packers D for all their blown coverages?

I thought Gruden would be an improvement over Kornheiser, and with his knowledge, he should be, but he was blatantly rooting for the Favres last night. He even went so far as to praise Favre for a perfect throw… on a play where the ball was incomplete because Favre thew wide and it was caught out of bounds. As if that was apparently the receiver’s fault.

It was disgusting.

Not that he’s wrong about the Vikings being way too soft in their deep zones at the end, of course. Rodgers should’ve had about 300 yards, not 380. But I didn’t hear him utter a single word of praise for the [excellent] play of Rodgers and he never bothered to point out that some of Favre’s heroics were also the result of mistakes. It was all just the same bullshit about “wow, Favre is so amazing! What a play by Brett Favre!” He should try to be slightly less obvious in his biases.

They could have complained about anything. I only watched that stream for the last few minutes of the game, and I just thought it was amazing that I was listening to them talk while ESPN in the US was on commercial. I want to know that someone else out there heard them yelling and cursing at the players when they thought no one else could hear them.

Also, next Monday night, I’m going to search through the streams until I find the one that lets me spy on them during commercials. That made my night.

That could end up being

a lot of fun.

Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Man, I need a life...

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: This is what happens when college students get bored.
