"A classy crowd, a classy organization"
This hasn't gotten much mention that I've seen since Sunday's game, but I really wanted to bring it up.
When Edge touched the ball, the crowd stood up and cheered. When they played the tribute video, he got a standing ovation. Of course, as Colts fans, we expected this, but I was most interested in how it affected the announcers.
I can't remember their names, or the exact quotes, but the Fox announcers noted the reception Edge was getting by saying it was very "classy" for the fans to recognize the contributions Edge made and to still cheer even though he was on an opposing team. One of the announcers recounted the story of Jim Irsay sending Edge a Super Bowl ring, saying (paraphrasing) "The Colts are a classy organization".
To me, that's what the Colts are all about: Winning with class. They play hard. They play to win. But when you get to the end zone, you act like you've been there before (Marvin taught us that one). No taunting, no mouthing off, no disrespecting your opponent. You win, but you win in the RIGHT WAY. No spiking balls at midfield, no stomping on towels. Beating the living hell out of your opponent, but giving him a hand off the turf and a firm handshake when the game is over. Respecting and appreciating your star players, even when they're in a different uniform.
Winning in the RIGHT way.
That's why I'm a Colts fan.

Well said.
That’s why I’m a fan, too.

Exactly. This is why the Colts are the best run organization
This is the Dungy imprint.

It's good to be a Colts Fan.
I loved seeing Edge smile like that. Remember he just lost his wife a few months ago? Good to see him happy.

I Think Jim Irsay deserves a ton of credit
He brought the right people here, and probably a lot of other things we’ll never know about.

Classy for certain
Great organizations start at the top. On the one hand you have our Colts, on the other you have the Raiders (there’s more but why bother?). . . . .

I take insult to the Raiders comment
I feel that the Bengals/New Browns and Cards are all worse run organizations.
Sure the Cards went to a super bowl, but let’s se them put a string of years together.
BTW, unless you slight the Raiders after leaving them, Al Davis treats you like Gold.

That Al Davis comment is right on
I believe I was watching ESPN’s Sportscentury Al Davis episodeon ESPN Classics. A former Raiders employee had died, but his family didn’t have enough money to pay for his funeral, so Davis paid for the whole thing. Al might not know what he’s doing anymore, but the man is loyal. In a shady business like the NFL, that’s a pretty good quality to have in an owner if you ask me.
"Do I believe in aliens?" Stephon Marbury asked. "I don't know, because I've never seen one. But I believe in Jesus because I saw him in the shower the other day."

There was a story in SI
where Al used to ask Matt Hasselbeck how is father was doing everytime they met, and always told Matt to thank his dad for him becuase Don Hasselbeck blocked an extra point in the Super Bowl once.
The problem with Al is that he doesn’t get how the NFL has changed. However, how can I fult him. He loves owning and GMing the team. Had I owned a team, I probably would do the same thing, especially if what I had been doing had made the franchise amazingly successful (even with the most recent run of bad play they are still 5th ALL TIME in winning %).
There is a reason why Al was like the second owner inducted into the HoF.

I dunno...
I mean, I don’t blame you for defending them, and loyalty is certainly a desirable quality, but looking at the state of the team it’s really hard to see any redeeming value there, especially given the Lane Kiffin spat and the fact that the Raiders head coach is about to be arrested. It screams of an organization in freefall.
That said, I’m not sure the Browns aren’t right there with them.

I just feel that there are worse run organizations
However, they make it harder and harder for me to defend that claim.
