Week Eight: San Francisco 49ers (3-3) at Indianapolis Colts (6-0)- Open Thread
San Francisco 49ers at Indianapolis Colts, Nov 1, 2009 1:00 PM EST

Broadcast: FOX
SB Nation Co-Blog: Niners Nation
After several tough road games, many of which were on primetime TV, the Colts return home to face a tough and desperate 49ers, who are coming off two loses where their pass defense was less than stellar. Alex Smith is now the starting QB for the 49ers again, and onetime free agent haul Nate Clements has been benched for the game. Clements was signed to a massive contract in 2007, making him (at that time) the highest paid defensive player in football. Now, Tarell Brown will start in his place while Clements plays the nickel.
For the Colts, rookie running back Donald Brown is out, meaning Mike Hart will see significant action today for the first time in a year. Also likely out are Marlin Jackson, T.J. Rushing, Jamey Richard, and Tony Ugoh. Adam Vinatieri and Anthony Gonzalez are definitely out.
This is your open thread. Enjoy. Go Colts!

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Viz Media (The creators of my absolute favorite show of all-time and inspiration to my avatar, Naruto) just announced a partnership with the channel Disney XD to bring the English-dubbed episodes of Naruto Shippuden (The continuation of the Naruto series) to that station with a new episode airing each week, starting, well, NOW. With the series recording I just put on it, this is one of the greatest days I've had in a long time. I'm not kidding. I love the show that much.

Bethea overpursuing turned that from a first down to a 60 yard TD
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
yea it was bethea
not the fact that sanders had to hands on him 6 yards deep and then let him go. Lets blame Bethea. Hey, can we still blame Ed Johnson?
umm I didn't say there weren't other screw ups
I just said the free safety, the last line of defense, screwing up made it a huge play.
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
if anyone ever said that the Colts would never give up a big play with Sanders on the field
feel free to declare victory over them. Otherwise leave to poor strawman alone
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
Im just tired of everyone saying the defense is better with Sanders in
This is me taking out frustration on everyone that says it. That run doesnt get that far with Bullitt in. Keep Sanders in ALL game. Let the 49ers destroy us with Alex Smith at QB, and then please keep coming back with videos of Sanders from 2005 going HOW CAN YOU SIT THE HIT MAN, LOOK AT THIS WONDERFUL HIT.
umm didn't you run the numbers and find the D was better with Sanders?
similar run D with improved pass D?
but don’t let the facts change your mind
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
the numbers were the name
only thing that was different was a lower completion %. Im not letting facts change my mind, my position the whole time is that Bullitt should be the starter. Now im letting actual footage show the truth. Bob Sanders, highest paid piece of glass on the planet.
because one play proves so very much
especially compared to two seasons of data.
And if the run D numbers are the same how could you possibly support a claim that having Bullitt in would have improved the run D?
Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.
dont recall a 60+ yard
with BUllitt in:) But I can name mulitple long runs with Sanders in. And having no Sanders saves 6million. And a roster spot for someone else. Its pretty simple addition by subtraction.
Yeah, I never really got that
The window is nice, but the roof is a 100 million dollars worth of pointless.
