Manning vs. Brady. A truth revealed
Okay. There have been thousands of these discussions. Even Bill Simmons (aka Mr.Boston) sided with Manning.
However it is never enough for a person to have blind patriotism. In this case being a Patriots fan.
Okay, so onto this post. This is a post i made when i listened to my local sports radio. The Sunday Night game came into discussion, and the 2 hosts began spouting out about Manning and Tommy Boy. So there were so many basic points that we've all heard. Then, a great point came out. A very basic, true one, that's constantly overlooked.
In the topic of who's had more team success, the pro-pat guy came out and stated the obvious, and the only thing that pats fans say, literally, their only point.. That Brady has 3 Superbowls. This is when the pro-Colt guy came up.
Here's how the convo went...
Pats-Brady had that 50 TD season!
Colts-Well Peyton had 49, in only 15 games, and unlike the pats the colts didnt run up the score on teams. once they got a big lead they just ran the ball
Pats-Pats won 16 games.
Colts-Haha, yeah and lost in the big game. Dont forget the colts have a 7 year streak of at least 12 wins. Thats domination.
Pats-Oh yeah, Tom has 3 SB's, manning has 1.. Brady IS that team.
Here it started. the great point. i was so happy.. It was incredible.
Colts- Woah Woah Woah.. Brady did not do what manning did. Brady only truly has 2 superbowls. The first it was all Bledsoe, he took them there did everything. Brady just won 1 game. Second of all, Brady came into an already superbowl team. STACKED with talent.. Almost too much talent. Manning on the other hand, was a 1st overall pick. Which means his team was the worst team in the NFL. HE MADE that team. He created them. He earned everything. Unlike Brady he didnt come into an ALREADY Superbowl team. Instead Manning earned his way, made his teamates better, and he brought in talent. He made people want to play for him.
*silence*
The rest of the convo started about 7 seconds later, and no real points were made. My jaw was open. Such a basic, true fact. Its never mentioned in Manning Brady arguements..
What do you guys think? I want some Patriot fan opinions to see what sort of comeback you guys brew up for this...

The truth is that Brady took the team to 4 Super Bowls and won 3 of them.
Brady only truly has 2 superbowls. The first it was all Bledsoe, he took them there did everything. Brady just won 1 game.
Myth 1: Bledsoe started 2 games in 2001 and was 0-2. With Brady starting, the Pats went 11-3. He replaced Brady in the AFC Championship game with the Patriots ahead 7-3. Bledsoe scored one offensive TD, Antwan Harris (Defense) scored and Vinatieri kicked a FG to end the game at 24-17. Brady won the Division game against the Raiders.
Brady came into an already superbowl team. STACKED with talent.. Almost too much talent.
Myth 2: The Patriots were 5-11 the previous year with Bill Belichick in his rookie year as head coach. The team was hamstrung by years of financial mismanagement where the owners were paying way too much for unproductive players and leaving good players unsigned. The team had a splintered locker room and an organization still adjusting to the end of the Dick Parcells era, the Pete Carroll debacle, and years of bad drafting.
Belichick and Brady made the team into a Super Bowl team, not Bledsoe. That’s not a knock against him either, as I am a big Bledsoe fan. The defense was great in that first Super Bowl too, but Brady (0 interceptions) led them down to get close enough for a FG to win it, and kept them in the game. He wasn’t just a plant, just a back-up fill-in, he was the true captain and leader of the team. Simple research would have told you that, or I recommend reading Patriot Reign by Michael Holley or any number of books that would give you a bit more detail on what went on that year than some guy calling into a radio program.
Instead Manning earned his way, made his teamates better, and he brought in talent. He made people want to play for him.
Myth 3: Brady kept the team together in spite of the quarterback controversy. (Bledsoe, too, was a complete class act, mentoring Brady and not running to the press to air his grievances losing his starting job.) Brady was the true leader of the Patriots in every sense of the word, and showed it by being the first one in in the mornings, the last one to leave at night, a film rat, and the hardest worker in the locker room. He earned the respect of the veterans early on by his all-out play, even when it was just leading the scout team. For you to insinuate that somehow he was plopped into a ready-made super bowl team just shows that you don’t know the facts. The team bought into Brady, and he didn’t let them down – under pressure, in the snow, in hostile Pittsburgh, or when it counted most in New Orleans.
The silence on the radio was ignorance talking, not a reaction to brilliance.

Brilliant response.
Rec’d.
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.
Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: This is my dad's favorite scene from one of my all-time favorite shows. Full of win, IMO.

I don't remember it that way
Didn’t Bledsoe do quite a bit of whining and pouting when he was healthy but still not starting?

No, surprisingly
In this day and age, it’s almost unheard of. All he said was that he was looking forward to earning his job back. It’s one reason you really had to respect the guy.

I'm also going to disagree
Because the years in which Brady made the SB, except 2007, his team was one of the top 5 defenses in the country in virtually every category. On top of which, despite Brady’s average offensive weapons, he is one of the best game managers ever at the QB position.
Essentially, he’s Brad Johnson/Trent Dilfer playing behind a great defense and an average offense…
Only difference here is that Brady is 10 times better than those guys…..
And before you say Brady was more important to the Patriots than the defense was, perhaps you should do your homework :)
