Ugh....Congratz to the Colts

Pats fan here...

Just want to congratulate you on that win. I'm shocked by Hoodie's call- horrible job on his part. I want to blame the refs because I fully believe that Faulk had possession of the ball with a first down, but it's BB's fault for burning TOs and we shouldn't have been going for it that close to our end zone anyways.

Bad playcalling on our part, good capitalization on your part. LoMo's fumble and BB's last call lost us the game.

Fun fact: I'm pretty sure these refs are the same ones who coached the Super Bowl when the Giants won. Hmph.

Thank you

I’m personally impressed that you were able to come over and “honorably concede” defeat, because if this game was as bad for you as it was good for us, I’m impressed that you are able to post on our site without an accompanying flood of contempt-laced horse porn/goatse.

Nah, I'm fine.

It shows a few things:

Brady’s back
Colts are good
The Pats can beat the Saints
The Super Bowl goes through the AFC.

Season’s far from over, I’m sure we’ll meet again in the playoffs (barring you guys playing the Chargers ;) )

Chargers

booooo!!!!

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Nov 15, 2009 11:53 PM EST up reply actions

exactly.

I think this game has demonstrated that the Pats and Colts are still the class of the AFC… I’d be surprised if this were the last time we went against each other, this season.

What sucks...

…is now it’s gotta be at The Lube and I’m sure you guys will pump in all the crowd noise you can in order to take full advantage of your home field while we use satellites (that can go indoors?) and steal all your signals. It’ll be a close one, hopefully we’ll be on top next time.

We really missed Ty Warren on this one.

oh yeah

perhaps we WILL get lucky and CBS’s speakers will experience feedback again. YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THAT WOULD HELP US.

Not looking forward to putting the links together tomorrow, lol

No one reads them anyway after a loss like that and even I plan to only scan them with both eyes squinted shut. So forgive any misspellings and inadvertent swear words.

This one’s still smarting, but well played Colts.

Keep the faith!

NOV. 30

I commend both teams as incredible. This game tonight showed that bothe teams can play great football and fight till the finish. As far as the comment that this game shows that the pats can beat the saints, Im glad you are sure of that. I will say this; the saints really messed up and overlooked the rams. But they wont overlook the pats. I wont make a prediction because Im about one game at a time. But I would tell you to save this comment. The saints have a much different team than the colts.

This was a game for the ages

Great game. Thank you guys for being humble about this. Gotta give the pats credit they played great. Looking forward to seeing you all in the playoffs. BTW it was Mike Carey’s ref crew who did superbowl XLII. He reffed the Oakland-KC game.

Haha I know...

…it just felt like it at certain points.

The Colts just could NOT drop the ball when it mattered most. Jerks. I’ll trade you a 2nd and a 7th for Reggie Wayne, okay?

NO DEAL!

lol

Bob Sanders does not play Hide-and-Seek, He plays HIDE and PRAY-HE-DOES-NOT FIND-YOU!

Mike Carey had that Super Bowl

I’m almost positive. This crew was Green.

Billy Boy had it right

I don’t like Belichick due to his willingness to cheat to win but his call was right. The Pat’s strength is its offense. The offense had moved the ball pretty darn well all night. His defense was not stopping Peyton. There would still be 2 minutes left after a punt. He opted to go with his strongest unit against the Colts’ weakest unit. And if the guy had caught it clean… it’s game over.

The talking heads that are lamblasting him now would be spouting praises of his genius, his courage, his take no prisioners approach, etc, etc if the play had worked. It would have been proof of his being he best coach in the NFL. But because a player bobbled the ball, he’s a schmuck. Right call.. it just didn’t work.

I said this in another post...

But Belichump made the right call on 4th down. However, the 3rd down pass to Welker was the reason he should be getting slammed. You need 2 yards on 3rd down and you don’t even attempt a running play??? That’s nuts…

As for the pass play results, it’s a 2 part play that in both cases, hurt’s the Patriots….

1.) The play was moving backwards on his own, which even with possesion of the ball, he’s not awarded forward progress until he’s either touched or moves forward on his own.

2.) The player did not catch the ball cleanly until he was already moving backwards behind the line. Even worse, there was no clear indisputable evidence to overturn the call even if the Patriots had a TO to use to challenge. Every angle I’ve seen on the play has shown him juggling the ball and moving backwards. This again goes down to poor clock management on the Patriots part by the Hoodie

on the Faulk had possession thing

he never had both feet on the ground in the NFL you need both feet on the ground to establish possession , therefore it was marked as a completion when his shoulder touched the ground short of the first down

by thebossuzzi on Nov 16, 2009 8:45 AM EST up reply actions

Yep

Both feet must be down to be considered a catch, but the fact he was moving backwards essentially kills any opportunity for forward progress..
