Remember this guy?

R1868294782_medium

Star-divide

Yeah, THAT guy. The guy that ALL of us love to bag on here at SB. The guy who never really makes any effort to return kicks, or always seems to never get any positive yards on a running play. Yeah, THAT guy...

I'd like to take this time to give some mad props to Chad Simpson for last night's game. His efforts running the ball were one of the key reasons why the Colts were able to keep drives alive in this game.

2nd quarter: 16 yard run from the NE 36 to the NE 20 on 1st-10. Next play is an incomplete pass followed up by a TD

4th quarter: 11 yard run from the NE 40 to NE 29 on 2nd 1. Next play is a TD throw.

Simpson had 4 carries for 36 yards. Addai had 10 for 41 yards. I'm not implying that Simpson is a threat to knock Addai down the list, but I just really felt like the guy put his heart into this game for a change. I thought the guy actually showed up for a change....and I'd like to take one day out of bagging on him to show him a lil respect for his efforts last night. Especially when the offense was struggling to run the ball as it was...

Much love

to Simpson for some hard running. Addai ran hard as well and, as he does week in and week out this year, does everything that is asked of him. Brown looked a bit rusty, but he’ll be fine. If Simpson can keep it up, we’ll have a great running back rotation that can get us the yards when we need them most.

You know New England had to wonder who the hell this guy was.

Both Simpson and Addai deserve props

We could have run for way more yards in that game if we hadn’t had to play from behind. That last run of Addai’s damn near had us scoring WAY to early. Addai came up big on getting first downs when called on too. Just didn’t have many attemps rushing as a team in this game.

Anyone else notice

Addai glance to the sideline as he was making that almost-TD-too-early run? I wonder if he would have gone down on purpose had the Patriots not tackled him, a la MJD earlier in the day?

How can you not love a team that does this?

Addai seems to be a very

cerebral player like MJD. He might have, but I’m not sure.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: I turn 19 on Tuesday, November 17. I accept all gifts. If any of you can figure out a way for me not to have a test Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the week of my birthday, that would be the best present ever.

Didn't quite look like it to me

But if that’s the case, it’s probably because they didn’t expect to get 14 on their first run, so didn’t bother reviewing strategy with 29 yet.

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

No joke.

It looked like he was tripped up by a great shoestring tackle. If he had thought of it, I’m pretty sure he would do it.

Yeah

I really felt like Manning went away from the run wayyyyyy too much in this one, and had he not, we may have kept this game closer longer. There were several times they were throwing the ball on 2nd and 7 or 3rd and 2 and the Colts running game was chugging along quite well…

He's not a return guy at all

And Caldwell seems to be fine with that. He seems to want reliable hands returning kicks-offs. But he did run hard when given the chance. I honestly think that if we gave actually ran the ball more (especially in the second half when the D is tired) our YPA will go up drastically.

A small aside,

Is it me? Or does it look to you folks that Simpson refuses to cut when returning a kick, and runs into the pile when it looks like there is a lane to one side or the other?

simpson is our Kevin Faulk....

we should be so lucky

If that turns out to be true, we’ll all love him in a decade.

Great game by 29 and 35

You just MIGHT be a Colts fan.....

When you compare Simpson to Faulk……slightly premature at this point. Good try though.
