Colts Rookies

It has been hard to hide the success and immediate impact from our Rookies. You start looking at Collie, Brown, McAfee, Powers, Lacey, Devan.... Can anyone think of a Rookie class with more of a positive impact for their respective team?

My one question remains around 2nd Round pick Fili Moala. 1 tackle in 9 games. Is he a bust? Is he injured? Is he not getting the system? I expected much, much more from him. Living on the west coast I watch a lot of Pac-10 football and this guy was a monster for SC.

I'm giving him some time

Even though USC’s is a storied program prediated on professional game-calling (ick I need a shower now), it’s still a jump to go from college to the pros. Having seen how he destroyed my Cal Bears, I haven’t given up on him.

How can you not love a team that does this?

You can't say bust or success for a player in just one year

ALWAYS have at least 3 years before you say someone is a bust or whatnot.

Mario Williams
Peyton Manning
Reggie Wayne
Dallas Clark

These guys sucked in their rookie years. Are they busts?

Vince Young
Tony Ugoh
Reggie Bush

These guys were awesome in their rookie years. Are they studs?

Oh no!

Meh

Dallas didn’t suck. He broke his leg.

I think he needs to add some bulk/strength

He’s still really young and not close to his full potential. Also, like the previous comment stated, its a difficult position to jump right into

Unless

you’re Eric Foster…or Ed Johnson…or Quinn Pitcock…or

Thats bad logic

Every player is different. Some come into the league and need time to learn and get bigger. That doesnt mean you have no future. Some of those players you mentioned were thrown right in because of the lack of talent at their position. A problem the Colts dont have right now. Plus Moala played alot in the 3-4 last year, which is a much different scheme. Using the logic of past players starting right away doesnt always fit

Keep in mind

The Colts DT’s have played a TON and the starters are in the game quite a bit. Moala is like 6th on the depth chart if I’m not mistaken right now…

You have Keyunta Dawson, Antonio Johnson, Dan Muir, Raheem Brock, and Eric Foster all ahead of him….and the only reason Dawson and Brock are listed as DE’s is because they are basically hybrid players…

So getting him into a game other than on special teams right now is probably difficult..
