Wayne is a monster
This is my first fanpost.
One story I'm surprised didn't get more pub after the game (although I guess 1 story got 99% of the action) was the dominant performances by the #1 receiver on each team. And since I am a Colts fan, I'd rather discuss Wayne than Moss.
Does anyone agree with me that he had possibly the best game of his career on Sunday? Maybe that Denver game where he had 3 TDs, but given the stage... what a fantastic performance. Seriously, dude catches EVERYTHING. That move he put on the DB (Wilhite?) to score the game winner... the DB didn't have a prayer. Peyton fired a bullet that almost sneaked through Reggie's hands, but he has strong fingers and he held on.
When I think back on this game, I'll probably remember Reggie leaping into the stands and being embraced by the adoring crowd following that catch.
Ok and also 4th and 2.

Wayne is the better route runner and the better pure receiver.
However Moss is a freak. He’s easily the most athletic between the two. He can take over a game at anytime. I’m not really sure who has better hands between Moss and Reggie, I’d say it’s a tie.
Reggie seems to come up bigger in big games yet teams don’t design entire GAMEPLANS to stop him like they do with Moss. Most of the time Peyton is the focus of the defensive gameplan. Plus Moss has had success with other QBs in his career, unlike Harrison and Wayne who supposedly were Pro Bowlers their entire careers even though they both weren’t that good until Peyton came along (Wayne wasn’t dominant till ‘04, he was drafted in 2001), plus he is impossible to defend on Jump Balls.
This is no dog on Wayne. He’s the best receiver in the NFL next to Fitz and Moss yet I think I would much rather have him as the Colts No. 1 receiver than Moss, for two reasons. 1) He doesn’t need to be fed the ball early to give an all out effort for the whole game. 2) He fits better with the Colts scheme b/c he is willing to run any route, block, and is an overall better route runner then Moss, which is critical in the Colts offense.
Moss is the better player and athlete and when he’s motivated, is the most dangerous offensive playmaking threat maybe ever. Yet Wayne is the more complete receiver.

Johnson vs Moss
You can at least compare those two fairly straighforwardly.

Yea I'm with you!!
Wayne is a total beast. The thing I think Wayne has over a lot of receivers in the NFL is his leadership. Not by speaking but by doing. He had it in him, but learned from Harrison the value of hard work…every practice, every play. He is now passing that on to Gonzo, Garcon, and Collie. You can see it in their preparation. Wayne makes them better by being WAYNE!! As time goes by, Wayne becomes more one of my favorite Colts. One thing that Wayne does that Harrison never really did….he shines in the biggest moments, and makes plays at the toughest times. He is an Oak!!

That was the best moment in the game
I mean it was the game-winning TD, but I absolutely loved Reggie’s reaction when the ref signaled touchdown. I just kept saying, “OMG, OMG, OMG” and walking around beause I couldn’t believe what I saw. Reggie just shines in big moments and I’m definitely happy he’s our #1 wide receiver!
Peyton Manning makes it Wayne on them hoes!!!!

Personally,
I feel like Reggie Wayne is consistently overlooked when the topic of best WR in the game is discussed.
There’s always Moss, Owens (not this season), Boldin, Fitzgerald, Johnson (Texans) and even Hines Ward…
Moss is always what I call, a cheap pick. The guy is talented no doubt, but the hype is too much. It’s easy to dominate when your 6’5"…..but when you aren’t, well….thats when talent really shines thru.

Don't know about that...
a lot of tall receivers never dominate…

Moss may have had better stats
but he dissappeared in the 4th.
This is what makes Wayne better IMO!

But did Moss disappear because
a – he wasn’t targeted
b – he was targeted and didn’t make the plays
c – our brilliant defense adjusted and he was effectively out as an option
How can you not love a team that does this?

d - both b & c
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.
Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: I turn 19 on Tuesday, November 17. I accept all gifts. If any of you can figure out a way for me not to have a test Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday on the week of my birthday, that would be the best present ever.

Reggie is the best for our system.
As much as I love the guy (::points at name::), it’s the Colts system that elevates him from being a good WR to one of the best in the leagues. I remember reading an in depth analysis of Reggie at the beginning of the Season, and it basically said he was smart, ran great routes, and had great hands. He’s not the fastest guy out there, but he’s so good at making plays when we need ’em. I would not want any other receiver at this point as our #1.
I’d say Moss is by far the best receiver in the league. No offense to A. Johnson or L. Fitzgerald, but our D was able to shut them down. Look at the catch Moss made against Bethea. 41’s fine against most WRs, but Moss was just taller.
Another Moss factor coming from a guest analysis: Nmadi Asomugha (SP?). Nmadi said Moss was the best receiver in the game because he was taller, faster, and still did everything he could to get in the defenders head. He’s freakishly huge, has great hands, and still can pull off moves to create more separation. How is that fair?
Anyway, enough about that guy. I’ll go out on a limb and say I’ve always liked Reggie more than Marvin, since Reggie has the swagger and the modesty. Marvin was so quiet it was almost bizarre. I loved being at the dome (still haven’t gotten to the Luke) and watching reggie come out before games to get the crowd pumped.
