Question: What is Deion Sanders issue with Peyton & the Colts?
I really do not understand where Deion's attitude is coming from:
For years I have listened to Deion Sanders go out of his way to minimalize any accomplishments made by Peyton and the Colts. In fact, if you carefully observe him on NFL Network he becomes very quiet and distant when others on the show sing any praises at all for the Colts, and Manning in particular. I just do not understand what he has against this team. I saw him almost pained in 2006 when the Colts won the Superbowl. What gives? Does anyone have any insight or history to share that could clear this up for me? He seems just the opposite regarding Brady and the Patriots. Why?

Probably goes back to 1999
When Peyton to Marvin torched him on a play fake for TD when he played for Dallas. Or the fact that they picked on him when he was a past-his-PRIME nickelback for the Ravens a few years back.
Probably just trying to stay relevant. Easier to do that going against the grain.
My room-mate told Deion Sanders his face was stupid.
My room-mate did some video work for the NFL Network during the Combine here in Indy in 2005. He basically had a camera and was getting shots of the players during their workouts. Anyway, he wasn’t really a big football guy back then and didn’t know who any of the people were. So he was standing around holding one of those parabolyic boom microphones (some big dome microphone I guess) trying to catch audio and this guy in a suit walks up to him and says, “That thing looks stupid”. So my room-mate, unbeknownst as to who this person is, replies, “Oh yeah, your face looks stupid!”
So he goes about his business, and a couple of his buddies run up to him like schoolgirls saying, “What did Prime-Time say to you?!?!?!?”. He’s like, “who??”. “That guy was Deion Sanders man!”
My room-mate was wearing a Colts sweater, too..
Mystery solved?
Ha!
That’s priceless!

Told him "to his face" that he was stupid? Or that his face was stupid?
Either way, I like the insult. Some folks just got it coming. ![]()

"How can a pickup truck contain enough mass to unfold into a towering machine? I say if Ringling Brothers can get 15 clowns into a Volkswagen, anything is possible."
Deion Sanders is useless, that's his problem.
He just doesn’t know it. Which makes him even more useless.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
"As I grow older, the list of people who can kiss my ass grows longer"-Ancient Hoosier Proverb.
I've noticed this also...
I’m going to throw this out there and probably be ridiculed for it… but Deion always takes the side of the most popular BLACK athlete… and not just Black but Black and “notorious” or “controversial” (for a lack of a better words)… he is a Ray Lewis lover, a Randy Moss lover, a T.O. lover… etc..etc… Notice he wasn’t really a Patriot nut-hugger until they got Randy… Peyton and Colts are too squeaky clean for his liking (and Peyton’s about the whitest white boy you can get) … FLAME AWAY!!!(but watch what he does… who was his boy this past draft …oh yeah CRABTREE) …and yes please point out all the white athletes he has helped and mentored…anyone?? anyone??
seriously, guy,
why did you feel you had to turn this into some sort of racial conflict? Was that really necessary… or even relevant at all?
Deion favors athletes who call a lot of attention to themselves… not because the individuals in question are black, but because— you said it yourself- they are “controversial”— Just like he was, when he played.
Realistically, I cannot comprehend why you somehow saw it relevant to turn your point from the ultra-obvious “Deion is biased towards attention whores” to “Deion is biased towards BLACK attention whores”.
Well he is...
but it’s not because they’re black. That part is just a coincidence.
The Colts are a classy and worthwhile organization that is intelligently run. Deion is a worthless and unintelligent pile of crap. The Colts stress hard work and team play. Deion is only out for Deion, never worked hard, learned plays, stayed awake through meetings, or did anything but coast on his remarkable talent. So it’s natural that he wouldn’t like them. I wouldn’t want to be on the same side as him for any reason anyway, so it’s good that he openly roots against them.
So true
… and Peyton’s about the whitest white boy you can get…
I know! I think you have to go to the NBA and peg Larry Bird to find one who’s whiter!

Black people can’t be racist???? lol So you think racism is only a white thing? Nobody else huh? When I hear something like that I question what world you live in…lol
I believe African-Americans were oppressed for like only 200 years so I think when people claim
that they are racist, it just sounds ignorant if you look at history

Um, anyone of any race can be racist
Black, white, Asian, Hispanic, Middle-Eastern; it doesn’t matter. As a young black woman living in the South, it saddens me to say this, but I still see it in my own family. However, I see that my young cousins do not see the difference between themselves and their classmates of a different race; hopefully more children think that way.
Peyton Manning makes it Wayne on them hoes!!!!
First off, the race thing needs to be stopped.
Secondly, racism is rampant around the world, and is perpetuated by all colors, creeds, and nationalities. If you question that, you have never left the lower 48. In Korea, mixed babies are often left in the streets or thrown in rivers. In Japan, even Koreans – who to many people look basically the same – are huddled together in ghettos and will likely get passed over for ANY job for a Japanese person of lower aptitude, character, or merit. In Zimbabwe, whites have been running for their literal lives since 1999 as Mugabe has sent thugs to terrorize them in any way they can so that they will leave and their farms “redistributed” to favored people whom have neither the tools, capital, nor knowledge to work the land.
Racism is stupid, but its a form of stupidity that the whole human race shares.
Deion may very well be racist, I don’t necessarily think so. I think he just likes the show off, flashy, bad boy types. And he likes people who make big plays, not work consistently and efficiently to achieve a goal. He doesn’t like the Colts because our D style just limits big plays, but doesn’t aim to necessarily make them. And we play “soft” zone style, bend/don’t break ball. He wants blitzes, man coverage, big punishing linebackers, and pick 6s. Our D is very different from his D and he doesn’t want to admit that it is successful. And he doesn’t like people who just shut up, go to work, and go home.
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
I agree with everything you just said
so I don’t know why that was a reply to my comment lol

Because
You said that people who call black people racist ignorant. That is ignorant. Africans enslaved Mediterranean whites, Jews, and West Asian peoples for more than a thousand years. Those wonderful pyramids and “Wonders of the World” in Egypt were built on the back of slaves, and many of them were of other races – whom Egyptians viewed as beneath themselves. And those slaves were traded, bought, and sold just like African slaves in early America – and for many of the same reasons. So using Southern White use of slaves as a moral out for any form of racism on the part of African Americans is unacceptable.
A person’s actions are THAT PERSON’S actions. They don’t extend to his race. That, in reality, is racism. So what Africans did two millennia ago matters just as much as what American whites did here a hundred fifty years ago. And what Bob did to Joe has no effect on how Joe should react to Jim. Even if Bob and Jim are the same race. THAT is racism. And everyone can fall into the same trap.

Great comments, Bullard!
I should’ve read yours before I posted mine, lol.

Incredible what people can do to one another
and think about it… there weren’t even Patriots fans when the pyramids were built

How can you not love a team that does this?
the only way to stop racism
is to follow my lead. Become a Peopleist! Hate everyone, without worrying about race, creed, sexual preference.
Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly

I don’t think it has anything to do with race. Deion is just well, Deion. He may not say a lot of positive things about Manning or the Colts, but I am pretty sure he respects them. Deion’s job is to be exciting and bring controversy into the show. It’s not like he is going to say anything earth shattering or make a mind blowing observation. The guy is a DB, he probably has some type of hatred towards all teams who have a strong QB.
Because Marvin and Manning made him fall in coverage while in Dallas and Baltimore
I can remember it so well when he was in Dallas and Marvin shook him so bad he fell over and Marvin caught it for a long touchdown.
This post is spot on.
I have noticed exactly everything that colt monger said about Deion towards the Colts. So I won’t repeat it. I’m just glad others have noticed it as well. Deion Sanders definitely hates the Colts.
Oh, well.
He hates Cover/Tampa 2
I think he doesn’t like our defensive scheme either because it de-emphasizes the type of cornerback play that he mastered.
"If you don't pick me, I'm gonna kick your a## for 15 years." Peyton Manning to Polian, prior to 1998 draft.
sometimes you just choose to dislike a team
I dislike everyone aside from the Colts, unless its somehow good for the Colts if a certain team wins……..
I could care less, he isnt anybody to me. The channel normally gets changed when he is on anyway
To the Heart of Your Question
Colt_Monger,
It’s true, Deion does continually diss the Colts despite Mooch and others giving our Colts their love. Here are the reasons why he does it. Deion never got over our Colts beating his Ravens at M&T field during the 2006 playoffs. If you can find footage from NFL network, he said that he was stil mad abt it on the the air (after the loss). Everything from his tone to body language showed disgust for the loss. He got very close to the players on Bmore and felt overly confident that they would handle the Colts. Furthermore, he was not excited abt his Prime Time highlights and prior to the matchup he likened the Colts to a woman waking up with running make up. It’s all on film. Search it out and see. Him knocking the cover 2 and etc is just icing on the cake. The real beef is that his boys (Ed Reed, Ray Ray, Suggs, Mcnair. Chris McAllister and etc.) lost! He wanted them to win and he felt and still feels that the Colts and Manning have an inferior playing style and defense that is not championship quality. There you have it.
well then we can expect more choice words this weekend
win or lose
How can you not love a team that does this?
He's just an idiot.
He can be funny sometimes but his analysis is stupid. He’s there for entertainment.

I'd vote for Snoop Dogg to replace him on the network
Who’s with me?!?!?!?!?! LMAO
Thanks to MarkFive05 I have a new theme video that I hope you all will remember me by: BAM BAM
I do like Snoop Dogg
but don’t forget… he’s a Stillers fan
How can you not love a team that does this?
Deion on commentating
Actually I like him bc he’s funny and entertaining plus he’s unafraid to speak his mind. He does bring up some good observations in my opinion. He just happens to be a Colt hater and when we win our 3rd title (2nd in the Manning era in Mia), hel like many others will have to admit that the Colts blueprint for success works. Period!
Thanks for the enlightnment:
I remember that Ravens game but never made the Deion connection. Oh, how another ring can go a long way to shut a few mouths! Go Colts & all their faithful!!!
Glad someone else noticed Deion's hate!
I was watching a lot of NFL Network early this week, and of course caught that a-hole on there. He seems to show total hatred and disrespect for the Colts. He didn’t say much, but when another analyst praised the Colts (where he said the credit was due) Sanders said, “The Colts?? They didn’t do anything!” Then he had to go on to say the Pats actually picked up that 1st down on the 4th-and-2, they were basically jipped. Blah, whatever. The guy’s always annoyed me, but I’m starting to see more and more of his outright dislike for the Colts, and he doesn’t hide it one bit! So why do they have an analyst (or whatever he’s called, lol) who’s so close-minded to particular teams? I’ve seen a lot of idiots on ESPN and NFL Network, but he’s probably the biggest of them all.
JMO tho:)
