Around SBN: Interview With UMD Athletic Director, Dr. Debbie Yow

Hey, you know what a good game

Some people on both sides have been not so lenient on the talks. But hey, that's part of being fans of football. We played a good first half, excellent on defense, decent on offense. Our defense still played pretty well in the second half, and I felt as if our offense was driving, but those penalties were killer on the drives and you guys capitlized by sacking us twice. I honestly thought it would be 24-14 with you guys winning, some score around there. But hey, us Niners are not going to back down from anyone, arguably, the best team in the league. Our 3-4 record doesn't reflect how tough a team we are, just ask Minnesota and Houston. So, in a good manner, great game today. Colts are a great team that should make a deep run in the playoffs, and hopefully we Niners can get to that level in a couple years. Again, good game

Thanks!

Good luck to you too! It was not an easy game for us, and you guys keep playing like that and you will be great.

Go Colts!

Your team has good things coming in the future

As much as I didn’t like the coaches asking your players to hit the field and fake an injury just to slow down our Offense, Singletary has done a great job turning around the attitudes and work ethic in that locker room. If your players can play to their potential, you’ll be scary! Thanks for an exciting game yesterday!

It was a good fight.

I was on the edge of my seat through most of the game. I have to respect the 49ers on defense. The announcers kept saying that Peyton was looking confused and rattled. I disagree with that, I don’t think he was confused, the niners just have excellent pass defense. And Peyton’s accuracy wasn’t there yesterday. GREAT GAME.

Thanks...

As a 49ers fan, how do you feel about Smith?

49ers played very well.

I’m excited for the future of the niners. Crabtree with Smith looked GREAT yesterday. Especially in that 2 minute drill. If thats what you have to look forward too in the future, should be great for you.
The best thing about this game in my opinion was the Defense on both sides.
The 49ers played some of the best defense I’ve seen against the colts.
And the colts DISPITE the first drive 70-some yard run by Gore, STILL held him under 100 yards…. that is LEGIT.

Gore had only 13 carries.

So don’t take too much credit for that. But if your point is that if you take that long run away that’s a pretty good run defense effort, then I’d be inclined to agree with you.

Also our defense did fairly well (much better than I expected) but I think Peyton missed a lot of throws as well. There were a lot of throws (at crucial times as well) that, on a normal day for Peyton, would have landed straight at the receivers’ hands but yesterday were slightly overthrown. They weren’t easy throws to make, but we’re talking about the best QB in the league here.

Overall it was a hard-fought close game from both sides and we can both take something out of it. On our side we stayed competitive (and led for most of the way) against a team that was supposed to destroy us. On your side you were surprised but calm enough to make the proper adjustments. You couldn’t win the way you normally do, but you found a way to win anyways (the HB pass playcall was brilliant), and that’s the mark of great teams with great players and great coaching.

Congrats and good luck.

It's too easy for Colts fans to look at records and injuries and

assume fate robbed us of a Rams-esque thrashing and stat-padding.

Too easy to overlook that an excellent MIN team only beat the Niners on a fluky last-second Hail Mary. I regard MIN as pretty much Indy’s equal (if they played ten games, the series could go 5/5 or 6/4 at the most), but I conveniently ignored that and assumed an ass whuppin’ would ensue. Foolish me.

I think, faux injuries aside, the mental come-down from the expected slaughter to the reality of a nail-biter is what fueled a lot of ire in Coltsland yesterday and today.

Dub4lif3, your post was very nicely put.

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

Great game.

Personally, I wasn’t expecting a blow-out in this one. The 9ers and Singletary are dangerous. You guys have a very solid team and definitely something to build upon for the near future.

That said, I’m glad our guys can still win “ugly” games, it gives me that much more confidence in our team.

Good luck for the rest of the season!
