College Football- Open Thread

Hello everyone! The college games have started already, and as there were no open threads as of 12:18 PM EDT, I decided to make one(Shake, if you post an open thread, feel free to delete this one). Please talk about today's football action(and maybe LOLcats) here. Some of the early games include:

Minnesota @ 13 Iowa

10 Ohio State @ Michigan

Duke @ 10 Miami

and Chattanooga @ 2 Alabama

Iowa needs a win to lock up a berth in the Capital One Bowl, while a win over the Buckeyes would ceratinly help Michigan's chances for a bowl game.

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

Minnesota may try to go for it on 4th and 1 from midfield.

They are trailing 3-0.

True

But Stanzi would be back for the bowl game, and if Iowa loses they’ll fall down to at least 3rd in the Big Ten.

Yeah, it’s high school. I’m in process of getting my college degree from the prestigious Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis(IUPUI). But Warren Central has turned out some notable people, such as:

Jeff George
Jane Pauley
Darren Evans(starting RB – injured though – for VT and Orange Bowl MVP)
Justin Smith(won a ring with Tampa Bay)
Jamie Asher(tight end for the Skins)
and….Ryan Murphy, creator and writer of Nip/Tuck, Popular, and Glee

Lol

It’s a good school and we do have some notable alumni and staff:

David Woffle, Deans of admissions, Olympic gold-medal winner

Robert Penn Warren, writer of All the King’s Men, who taught at Rhodes back in the 1930s

Craig Brewer, film director of Hustle and Flow and Black Snake Moan

Dixie Carter, actress from Designing Women

Charlaine Harris, author of the vampire mystery series that the HBO show True Blood is based on.

I most people who attend are the ones who didn’t get into Vanderbilt (myself included), lol, but many doctors, lawyers, business men and women and scholard are produced there. :-)

when it comes to gambling monies

the canadian government, because they don’t care as much. They actually don’t make you claim any gambling money if you can prove its ‘for fun’ and not ‘professional’.. US government is very strict and has HORRIBLE claiming laws (like, if I were to win 6 million, but lose 10 million, so a -4million year, i can only claim that I WON 6 million, not the 4 million loss, so im down 4 million AND paying taxes on 6 million).

this is to both Cass and Bullard

Its actually like this… Michigan:Jaguars..

They are the supposed ‘rival’ of my favourite team in the respective sports. But its only a rivalry when the other team wins. Its more like, both teams are pieces of shit. They are coached by pieces of shit. They play like pieces of shit. They float like pieces of shit (thats not really here nor there, but I just want to confirm that they are, in fact, pieces of shit, and not a bath ruth candy bar posing as a piece of shit).

I think Rodriguez was a POS at WVU. The only thing better than Lloyd Carr, who couldn’t coach his way out of a shoe box, is Rich Rodriguez, some dude that won, but didn’t even dominate a weak conference with superior talent, going to a ‘major’ conference, trying to run a system that he didnt have the talent for. And then, despite the fact that douche nozzle supreme wants to fit a square peg into a round hole, he blames everyone but himself.

Look at this game. Tate Forcier is mentally destroyed, and instead of picking him up, for, ya know, the future, Douchriguez is on the sidelines talking to himself, but yelling at Forcier through talking to himself.

Del Rio and the Jags, a match made in heaven. Michigan and Rodriguez, till death do you part, imo.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Michigan.

I would go to a college hockey game over any college sport, and it's not even close

But I really enjoy hockey. And the atmosphere (at the Ferris State games at least) is unmatchable. CMU Football (Which is where I go to college) is sorry in terms of atmosphere in comparison.

I think if more people gave hockey a chance they’d be surprised how exciting it is.

Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Man, I need a life...

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: You've seen SNL's hilarious Dear Sister sketch before, right? You haven't? Well, watch it a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CZCiKTRZ3I0&feature=related" target="new">herehere< /a is what the Dear Sister sketch was a parody of. Bet the writers of The OC wish they could redo that scene now.

the bowls are about making money. That’s why there are a bunch of restrictions on which teams bowls can take. To give bowls a vague appearance of being rewards for performance.

they can, but they are allowed to pass for any BCS conf team in the top 14

and if they think they’ll make more money taking Iowa, OkSt. or Pitt then Boise will get left out.

Boise has to hope TCU loses or that a bowl rep is sold on their fanbase traveling, or team drawing viewers.

I’ll link the Winning Stats.

Then every time I comment, Google links “Winning Stats” to the stuff here. Once I comment enough, anyone who wants winning stats will come here.

nice plan

Luck is probability taken personally, clutch is probability attributed to individuals.

It's shocking how much can slip your perception

that would work i suppose but you would have to link the whole thread each week

wise there wouldn’t be any comments on it not that there usually is many i dont think

GO COLTS!!! 09 IS OURS!!!

We can link tags

I tag every story I talk about them, so no need to change it over and over.

The rumor out of South Bend

is Weis resigned before the game today, will announce tomorrow, citing health reasons.

If that happens, my guess is we’ll have a new coach in 2 weeks, when the regular season is over.

I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of ND,

I won’t root for them if they’re going against my boilermakers, or any Pac-10 team besides USC…

but they’re a proud organization, and they deserve better than how they’re being run currently.

at least one of my favorite teams

has a chance at a big game in a month or so.

AND Cal takes #3 in the conference

if we win against Washington (I won’t count that chicken, right USC fans?)

Not a bad finish after some horrible beat-downs at the hands of USC, Oregon and OSU.

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Nov 22, 2009 6:50 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

bleh

oregon would go to the rose bowl, right, if they win out, right? (They still do this if the pac 10 or big 10 champ isnt in the title game, right?) Of all the pac-10 teams, Oregon is the one I least want the buckeyes to play. I see another 60-7 debacling coming for Tressel’s troops.

Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly

yeah I know this matters to nobody else here but me, really

but it’s been a really up-and-down year for my team

Yes, if Oregon wins out, they will go to the Rose Bowl. But if they lose to Oregon State in the Civil War, the Beavers will go – I anticipate an exciting game on Dec 3… those teams hate one another AND they’re both solid this year.

Question is whether you want the Buckeyes to see Masoli and the option offense, or the Rodgers boys (James and Jacquizz).

As a side note, it’s 4-friggen-30 in the morning and I’m awake now for the day – UGH!

Awake

I’m right there with you. What a crappy way to start a Sunday.

But, at least your team has Bowl game in its future :-(

Trust me, I understand. My team survived Tom Holmoe.

I care!

Just not as much as I care about my school being embarassed on national TV .. again. :) If it makes you feel better, I went to bed at 8:30pm last night, woke up at 10:30pm. Got up for 2hrs, went back to bed, woke up at 3:30am, have been up since. Going to try to sneak a nap in soon. I can’t ever sleep at night anymore, it sucks.

And yeah, I hit my late 30s and I’m an insomniac for some reason. I don’t even have kids!

Just looked at the TV maps

Dayton decided it wanted to show the Browns/Lions rather than Colts/Ravens.

Guess I’ll be watching on the computer. Unbelievable.

With DirecTV Superfan

I can watch games on my computer. It works out nicely, even at home. I’ll have a game on TV, and another on the computer.

you should be thankful

Pitt-KC? You’d really prefer that over Indy-Baltimore…??

by hahasound on Nov 22, 2009 12:34 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Yeah.

I’m visiting my mother in Des Moines, and I figured I would miss the Colts game, since it’s at the same time as the KC game. NOPE! Thankfully, someone figured out that most people would rather watch the Colts than the Chiefs this year.

Check it to Pancakes! Pancakes!
