Week Eleven Early Morning Coffee

Irish_today_hungover_tomorrow_tshirt-p235412673053403793qw9y_400_medium

Good morning!

So, what are you chatting about this morning? Getting ready to watch the Colts v. Ravens? Are you laughing at the horrendous coaching job Charlie Weis is doing in South Bend; perhaps counting down the days to when his butt is fired? Or, are you traveling early for Thanksgiving, making a bit of a long holiday out of the event?

Use this thread to chit-chat about what's doing this morning. We'll have game threads up closer to kickoff.

Drinking coffee, reading the Sunday paper.

I had to work over 60 hours this week and on top of that attend 3 classes. Let’s just say it’s been a long week.

MMA fans, check out my new blog The Spider's Web.

I was up at 3:30am

have caught up on my revelling in Cal’s win, walked the dog, eaten breakfast, read the paper, watched that video Bullard47 posted about Google Wave, and am now sitting down to watch a movie before the game!

I value clean clothes, but not over watching the entire colts game. Hm..

come to think of it, though

I only have two days before I go home for Thanksgiving, and thus have access to my parents’ machines, detergent, and water… may as well just wash a few by hand, and save my precious quarters..

Well, just put ol’ man Powers on ol’ man Mason and we should be okay. If Bethea needs a week of rest, I guess this is the time to do it. We’ll need him for Houston and the remaining divisional games down the stretch.

Weis Era...Done

I was a graduate student at ND when Willingham was toasted and Weis came in. There was so much excitement and expectation: Quinn, Samardzija, Stovall, and Walker. Even then, I thought it was ridiculous that ND handed Weis a contract extension.

He is what he is: a good offensive mind, but not a great head coach and certainly not an adequate college coach. I got very tired of watching Weis’ teams flounder over the last few years and this year was especially frustrating. The offense is loaded with talent and the defense couldn’t hold off Mt. Union if they had to. That said, it was awful to watch the cameras pan to Weis’ face last night after ND lost in double OT. They mentioned how much shit kids give his son at school; that’s truly awful. Weis will find an OC gig somewhere in the NFL (I assume) and ND can start rebuilding AGAIN next year under Brian Kelly or whoever they manage to cherry pick from another winning team. The mismanagement of the football program, unfortunately, closely resembles everything else at Notre Dame: throw money at it and hope it fixes itself. Meanwhile, it all goes to hell.

Would love for them to get Jim Harbaugh

and get him out of Stanford!

How can you not love a team that does this?

by LovinBlue on Nov 22, 2009 11:01 AM EST up reply actions

Oh yeah man

I heard that mentioned once or twice. Harbaugh told reporters that he intends to finish what he started: I take that to mean he wants to ensure USC’s dominatino of hte Pac-10 is done and Carroll will get punked at least once or twice a year. If he can’t come to ND, he’s still doing good work!

How awful is it going to be to watch Stanford run through ND next week?

Does anyone else really hope that Bob Lamey does something about his weight? I never realized he was so large. I love him as the call guy, and want him around for some years to come. Did anyone see Favre just burn Detroit on the network?

They had him wired during the DET game, and he looked across to a DT that he knew, said “Damn Steve, what they got you in for?” On the ensuing snap, Peterson blows through on inside zone for a TD. He runs up to the same guy and says “Are they paying you overtime?”

Indiana college basketball

For a state with only 9 teams and 3 in big conferences, if you had an all-state team I think it would be not that far off from North Carolina.

PG: Shelvin Mack, Butler
SG: Robbie Hummel, Purdue
SF: Gordan Hayward, Butler
PF: JaJuan Johnson, Purdue
C: Luke Harangody, Notre Dame
Bench
G Maurice Creek, IU
G Brandon Wood, Valpo
G Jake Kelly, Indiana State
G E’twaun Moore, Purdue
F Matt Howard, Butler
F Robert Glenn, IUPUI
F Christian Warford, IU

That would be awesome. I love college basketball.

so here's my question of the day...

Lets say I’ve been married for 40 years or so, a really long time. But in the 1980s, my spouse leaves me for someone else, and they get married immediately(I’m trying to keep this gender-non-specific). Of course, in the 1980s, I’m angry. But in the late 1990s, someone elses spouse runs off with me, we fall in love and get married immediately. They don’t have the same names, and they don’t wear the same clothes, but we’re in love, and I’m immediately rewarded with the ultimate success this partnership can have. But then, everytime I see my ‘old spouse’, i get all pissed off, i verbally attack my old spouse, and my old spouse’s new spouse. I call them names. Im angry. I tell my old spouse, ‘YOU SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT ME, YOU WERE WRONG TO LEAVE ME’, etc…

At some point, 30 years after the breakup, isnt my NEW spouse going to look at me and say, ‘wtf dude, if you want your OLD spouse so bad, fine, go get ’em, I’ll find someone else to love, I’ll move to LA?’

Am I overcomplicating this?

Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly

I haven’t even lived 30 years, so maybe I’m not qualified to answer. Once someone leaves you, to me anyway, it’s done, over, finito. If it’s not, you have something that you need to resolve with that person, and you might not be fit to be in a new relationship.

realize that what you’re feeling is anger… bottle it up and throw it out with the trash… focus on your new spouse – it’s so much easier to focus positive energy than to harbor negative energy
