Pierre Garçon grows up!
Wow...This is the first game this season I haven't gotten to watch live. Just finished the DVR version right now. Just as satisfying seeing the victory after knowing the outcome. I was a big proponent after last week that we saw a maturation from Pierre in the middle of the game. Today's game solidifies my opinion. Pierre came up big on a couple of 3rd down throws that he may have dropped in the past. I would like to see us use Pierre on the outside some when Gonzo is back. I know Gonzo is better on the outside than in the slot, and I'm a huge Collie fan, but I think we need to have a couple of packages that use all these guys. Good to see guys working together and helping this team win. LOVE IT!

Pierre definitely showed improvement
I don’t recall him dropping any, he showed a lot of focus. Whether it becomes a trend or not remains to be seen, but he regained a lot of my confidence. He’s going to continue developing, and in the next couple years could be a pretty solid weapon.
As far as leaving him on the outside or putting him in the slot… I’ll let the coaches and Manning decide that. It really depends what they think would be more valuable. I like the idea of Garcon’s speed and size on the outside because he’ll be able to beat his man and go up for the high passes, and that would give give us an efficient, talented target in the slot in Gonzalez. I don’t think you can go wrong either way, but that’s assuming Garcon keeps reeling those in. I’d say once Gonzo is back, put him on the outside and if Garcon’s development continues, then consider having Gonzo in the slot in those 3 and 4 wide sets.

I refuse to like the guy
Until he shuts up. I say this once a week. The way he shouted at Ray Lewis was not Colts football. We don’t need to give our opponents extra motivation.

You can't say that
you wouldn’t get up barking if you just took a hit like he did. He got leveled and still jumped right back up.

If I took that hit
I would have fumbled the ball, been carried off the field, and get sent to the hospital. That’s not the point. One of the things I love about the Colts is how they conduct themselves on the field. No excessive celebrations, no “me-first” garbage. I really fear Garcon could become one of those people. I want him to succeed, but I worry that my team is turning into something else.

I know what you mean
about the me-first mentality. I don’t think the team will let that happen though. He’ll get brought back down to earth if it happens. I don’t particularly mind his barking at Ray Lewis. Guys are going to have their individual match-ups, and I’d much rather see Pierre get up and ask Ray if that’s all he’s got than to get up slow and limp back to the huddle.
Personally, I wouldn’t mind seeing the team with a LITTLE bit more of an edge. I love Colts football for the same reasons you mentioned, they’re a classy team. That being said, sometimes I feel like they really, really play down to their opponent and let them stay in the game. They’ve trailed in the 4th quarter for the last 4 games. Admittedly, there have been some tough contests, but this team is LOADED with talent, has terrific coaching, and I heard the QB is pretty good too. We should have pounded San Fran and Houston. Both are good teams, but they’re not at the same level as the Colts. I wouldn’t mind seeing the team have a little more swagger, as fun as the nail biters are to watch.

You're overrating our talent, I think
We have a great QB, a great wide receiver and great defensive ends. The rest of the team varies from very good (Clark) to crap (our defensive tackles, some of our O-line).
You’re obviously a fan, which is fine, but you need to be realistic – we have loads of flaws and have been hit very hard by injuries. We’re not going to blow out good teams (the Texans) or even average ones (the 49ers) on a regular basis.

clark should be in the great category

I'll give him a pass this time
Garçon did get too lippy with Ray Lewis but this was after Garçon had taken that horrible kidney shot that could have ruined him. To bounce back up after that hit AND a major hit from Lewis, well, it’s not like he was shouting for no reason.
I have faith in the coaches to reel him back in a bit. He’ll settle down and be a good boy again next week, or he’ll find himself on the bench watching Wayne, Gonzo and Collie. I’m just glad to have such a tough, physical receiver who is on the upswing.
Never approach a vast undertaking with a half-vast plan.

I have to agree on this one
Big mouths are a concern. I hate when players take a “bush” attitude. I hope the vets pull him aside and have him tone it down some. Confidence is fine, but there is a limit……I think it’s called class.

They almost had to carry me out of the house and send me to the hospital yesterday
and I was only watching that play
How can you not love a team that does this?

true
and Ray Ray took that out on Santi, too… I have a feeling we will see Tom on the injury report this week being held out with a concussion

I don't think...
You can say that he hit Santi any harder because some one got on him after an earlier hit. He ALWAYS hits like a ton of bricks. Did he need motivation to light up Sproles or Moreno this year? I think he did what he thought would keep the guy out of the endzone. That’s what he does.
Don’t read this wrong. I am not saying Garçon is justified in getting up and yapping. That is NOT Colt football and we all know it. I would assume it has already or will be dealt with during film session this week. It was/will be a simple comment from Peyton or Reggie and Garçon will listen and shut up.

eff that...
Ray Lewis makes a living intimidating and scaring the $hit out of receivers and running backs..I loved seeing Garcon get up and tell Ray Lewis off…I am pretty sure Ray being the sweet guy that he is had a couple of words for Garcon, and I am glad that #85 had none of it or that big hit. I like the attitude, I like his physical play and I like the confidence he exudes..I know this isn’t a typical colts receiver’s style, but he brings a toughness and swagger to this team that we never really had on offense. Get some 85!

Pierre and his attempt to get Ray’s attention after that hit was just embarrassing. You think Ray Lewis is going to listen to someone like Pierre Garcon? Come on. Pierre is a little kid in Ray’s eyes. Pierre Garcon needs to focus on catching passes, running routes and making plays. You held on to the ball after a big catch, big deal………….
However, I do like Garcon and believe he will be our starting outside receiver for years to come (I am starting AG in the slot so everyone settle down). Pierre needs to continue to work with Manning and continue learning from Wayne and Clark.

What's the deal with his mouthpiece?
Garcon looks like he has a fang design in his mouthpiece…. My son said “he looks like he’s missing teeth” and then on closer look, I said “no, he has fangs painted on that thing…”
In general, I am not a fan of his mouth, but I do like his attitide and yapping at Ray Lewis—I have NO problem with that. He’s a mouthy bully and I suspect he has grudging respect for guys who give it back. Yes, in terms of his lifetime body of work, Garcon is an insect on Lewis’s front bumper, but in the heat of the battle, I imagine his mental response was more of “okay, kid, let’s see what you got” rather than “pussy.” I like his play, but really dislike the whole Ray Lewis persona.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

I really don't see what the big deal is...
Garcon is a good player, capable of being an elite star in this league for years to come….and if I just took a hit from one of the greatest LB’s in the game…..I’d pop up talking smack too.
It’s just part of the game….and Garcon wasn’t hounding the guy, just yelled something…
For all you know, he wasn’t even talkin trash….he may have been saying good hit man…
As for Gonzo’s return….his position will most likely be determined by who we play….as the matchups may favor him on the outside or inside in the slot….

I think for both Gonzalez and Garcon
The way forward will be determined by how they both play.
