Greatest compliment ever
A great segment from Peter King's MMQB this morning:
New Orleans coach Sean Payton was so impressed with Indianapolis' 35-34 win over New England a week ago that on Monday he dialed Peyton Manning's cell phone to congratulate him. What caused him to call was not the win. It was what Belichick did -- go for it on fourth-and-two with a six-point lead and two minutes left ... rather than punt the ball so Manning would have a chance to beat him.The call rang into voice mail.
"Sean Payton here,'' Payton said into the phone. "Just wanted to tell you that last night was the greatest compliment I've ever seen a quarterback paid.''

Damn, I <3 Peyton Manning!

How can you not love a team that does this?

Rec'd.
Brings a tear to my eye (not really).
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.
Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: You've seen SNL's hilarious Dear Sister sketch before, right? You haven't? Well, watch it here. This right here is what the Dear Sister sketch was a parody of. Bet the writers of The OC wish they could redo that scene now.

I wish I had Peyton's cell phone #.
I’d have said the same thing.

This is awesome btw
My friends try to argue with me about him being the best quarterback in the NFL. I’ve tried to tell them that he’s NOT the best quarterback in the NFL…….he’s the best EVER TO HAVE PLAYED THE GAME…..EVER.
As long as we have Peyton we will always have a chance to win.

+ ehh
I love him. He’s better than Brady. Better than Many. Top 2 QB’s ever, top 4 players all-time probably.
I love him to death man but you cant title him best ever with just 1 ring. Sorry. I love him to death, best player in the NFL. Win 1 more ring and im pretty sure noone will argue he’s best ever. Win 1 more MVP and there will be some arguments, but most smart ppl will call him best ever… If he wins and MVP and a ring, nobody will argue

What does a ring have anything
to do with how good a quarterback is? Why does he have to have 1 more ring to be the best ever?

Logically yes...
But many people measure success of offensive weapons by the number of rings they have. It’s stupid, but I’ve met a fair amount of fans (including COLTS fans) who are of the opinion a QB needs to lead his team to several SB victories to be amazing.

Rings take the combined effort of 53 players and a lot of coaches

Yeah but...
When a player like peyton, in his younger years(now he is the COMPLETE opposite. in every sense of the work opposite lol) was a bit of a choker. he lost many games he should have won and lost an AFC championship game against the pats. Also dont forget how many picks he’s thrown in big games in the playoffs. If a QB is on a SHIT team and he wins 1 ring, great. But on Indy, a perennial contender for a decade, u gotta win more than one.
But in my defense, before i get eaten alive for this post, Peyton is a different player, different person overall. The word choke never comes up with his name anymore. This whole post was in regard to prior the 06’ season, when he truly matured. ( i dont mean by winning the ring. That year he crossed the playoff win against NE hump)
(my Dad about to place a bet)"Hey Karim who do you like in the Colts Game?" "I dont know dad, Haydens out, so is Gonzalez, Bracket, Sanders, Jackson, and maybe Freeney" Dad-"Is Manning playing?" Me-"Yeah".. "Lets go with Indy"

I'll have the liver, with a nice chianti
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

I now like Sean Payton a little bit more.

He's too much of a smart ass for me
Thinks he’s a genius so overplays cleverness instead of just going with what works. Actually in that, he reminds me of Belicheck…
He’s spot on here, though.

Oh, he has the charisma that Belichick lacks
I think a guy that thinks too much of himself is Harbaugh (seems like all Baltimore coaches are like that). I like Payton.

Perhaps that will work to our advantage
when we beat them in the super bowl =p

IMO, Jim Mora (the younger) said it better after the Colts 34-17 dismantling
“we were playing greatness”, but this is also a great line.

34-17
I miss that type of score

You'll really miss this
it was 34-3 when we called off the dogs.
However, in 2006 we won reg. season games 21-14, 14-13, 31-28, 17-16, 34-21 and 27-22. That year ended up pretty good too.

including to each of our divisional opponents.

True, true
the Jags game wasn’t really close though (shuddering in fear of memory of that game)

We were ahead 10-7
after the 1st quarter if I remember correctly.

not if you're playing the Jets...
then Rexy starts crying to the media that the Patriots were running up the score.
