poor sports in baltimore

Peyton Mannnig threw for 302yards not 299 against the ravens . I was watching the game and the tv yards count was 302.  On every play by play website I have been on the total always adds up to 302. The lost 3 yards probably happen at the 10:23 mark . Santi catches a three yard pass.  His stats show 6 receptions for 80 yards. Five of his catches total 80 yards. He got credit for the reception not the yardage. Play by play shows 6 for 83.  Are the people in charge of the ravens stat keeping trying to rob manning of a three hundred yard gain. They need to get over the colts leaving baltimore, put colts on the score board and give manning the three yards so I can win my fantasy game.

Now THAT'S interesting

I doubt 18 gives a rat’s rump, but I would not put it above the home team scorer.

I know the NFL reviews sacks and tackles and stuff like that (I recall seeing a headline earlier this year that somebody was sacked during his bye week because the league office determined he had been a foot behind the LOS when tackled in a prior game, giving the D a sack), so maybe this is fixable, though I think a scorer’s decision is considered pretty firm.

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

Uh

Which play-by-play sites did you check? I just checked Yahoo Sports and their play-by-play adds up to 299 yards for Peyton. They do have Santi’s catch at 10:23 for three yards. Santi’s six catches were for 5, 31, 3, 22, 13, and 6. That adds up to 80 yards, not 83.

There might be an honest mistake somewhere. Typically the NFL reviews each game and releases their official scoring changes every Thursday morning. Wait until then before crying foul.

Plenty of NFL players have performance incentives in their contracts based on official stats. Lots of money is at stake. For a scorer to monkeydick with these stats intentionally would be a scandal on par with point shaving. I agree that Baltimore is petty but a scorer would be seriously risking his ass to pull a stunt like this.

The reception you have for six yards was actually a nine yard reception that santi fumbled on. Check nfl.com and cbs.com

Fumbled backwards

He got hit on the 1-yard line but he fumbled it backwards to the 4. That makes it a 6-yard reception. The play belongs to the Colts until the Ravens touch the ball.

I have no idea if you're right about the yards or not,

But what I think makes Baltimore poor sports is the fact that they refuse to call the Colts the Colts. On their scoreboard they list us a INDY.

They ought to

just put up the word ‘victor’ instead of Indy…..because we all know who’s going to win the game. That city of Baltimore has been extremely traumatized. I’m not sure they’ll ever return to normal. Losing a team does that. And, then Peyton and the Colts routinely ripping them a new one is like pouring acid on an open wound. They absolutely know they’re going to lose; it must be agonizing.

Football outsiders "quick reads" has him at 302

and they use PBP info as well.

Nice catch! (pun intended)

How do you access quickreads

Im trying to win a bet and I have put to much time in to give up now!

it's one of the choices at www.footballoutsiders.com

it should have it’s own tab or be a headline since it’s just a couple hours old.

QR starts with QB performances and 18 is about 4th or 5th despite a pretty sub-par day. It gives him 302 passing yards.

Does anybody have a rulebook?

Play starts on the 10-yard line. Santi catches a pass. He takes it to the 1-yard line and gets hit. He fumbles. Ball squirts back to the 4-yard line before the defense recovers it.

Question 1: Does the fumble yardage count against Santi’s receiving total?
Question 2: Does the fumble yardage count against Peyton’s passing total?

I can’t find anything on the Internet about it one way or another.

In any case, I still don’t think it’s foul play by the home team’s scorer. I guess we’ll get the answer on Thursday when the NFL releases the official scoring changes.
