AFC Playoff Picture

With six games left in the season, I don't think it is too early for fans to start thinking about the playoffs and playoff seeding.  Here are my predictions.

1. Indianapolis (10-0).  Remaining Schedule: @Hou, Tenn, Den, @Jax, NYJ, @Buff.  Projected Record: 15-1.  I can't imagine the Colts lose more than two games.  The only way I can see them losing three is if they don't play anyone at Buffalo because they don't need the game.  Either way, they end up the #1 seed.

2. San Diego (7-3).  Remaining Schedule: KC, @Cle, @Dal, Cin, @Tenn, Wash.  Projected Record: 12-4.  I think they win all of their remaining games other than dropping one to Dallas, Cincy, or Tennessee.

3. New England (7-3).  Remaining Schedule: @NO, @Mia, Car, @Buff, Jax, @Hou.  Projected Record: 12-4.  They either lose at New Orleans or one of the three games between Miami, Jacksonville, or Houston.  They could swap with San Diego for the #2 seed depending on tie-breakers.

4. Cincinnati (7-3).  Remaining Schedule: Cle, Det, @Minn, @SD, KC, @NYJ.  Projected Record: 11-5.  They beat Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, and the Jets.

5. Pittsburgh (6-4).  Remaining Schedule: @Bal, Oak, @Cle, GB, Bal, @Mia.  Projected Record: 11-5.  I think they lose this weekend at Baltimore and then win out.  Cincinnati gets the division based on head-to-head.

6. Baltimore (5-5).  Remaining Schedule: Pitt, @GB, Det, Chi, @Pitt, @Oak.  Projected Record: 10-6.  They lose at Pittsburgh, but win the rest and sneak into the final playoff spot.  Depending on tie-breakers, they may sneak in front of Pittsburgh.

Remaining Contenders:

Jacksonville (6-4).  Remaining Schedule: @SF, Hou, Mia, Indy, @NE, @Cle.  Projected Record: 9-7.  I don't see them beating the Colts or Patriots and would be surprised if they take more than three of their four remaining games.

Denver (6-4).  Remaining Schedule: NYG, @KC, @Indy, Oak, @Phil, KC.  Projected Record: 8-8.  Clearly, Denver isn't the elite team it pretended to be for the first part of the season.  They might be lucky to get to 8-8, even with three games against weak division opponents.

Houston (5-5).  Remaining Schedule: Indy, @Jax, Sea, @ St. Louis, @Mia, NE.  Projected Record: 9-7.  I think they will control their own destiny going into the final week of the season, but they won't beat New England which will be fighting for a first round bye with San Diego.  If they can pull out a win against the Colts this weekend, they will be the six seed in front of Baltimore.

Miami (5-5).  Remaining Schedule: @Buff, NE, @Jax, @Tenn, Hou, Pitt.  Projected Record: 7-9.  I see four losses in their games with New England, Jacksonville, Tennessee, Houston, and Pittsburgh.

Tennessee (4-6).  Remaining Schedule: Ariz, @Indy, St. Loius, Mia, SD, @Sea.  Projected Record: 8-8.  Running the table will be tough with games against Arizona, Indy, and San Diego.

Let me know what you think.

Ravens

I think they’ll go 9-7 with their losses coming from the Steelers and Packers…or possibly both from the Steelers. Looking at their schedule coming into the season, I had them not making the playoffs. I’ll go with my original prediction of a 9-7 record. But tell you the truth, I think a 9-7 record in the AFC will make the playoffs so now I really do not know. Would it be too early to look at the tie breakers between the bunch on who could go 9-7? That’s what it will come down to in my opinion between the Ravens, Jags, Texans, Broncos, Dolphins, and even the Titans.

U know I shouldn't talk about it but...

Are any of you guys at least thinking about 16-0?

Nope, I'd rather see the Colts emulate the '85 Bears' 18-1 record

than the ‘07 Pats’ 18-1 record.

To emulate the '85 Bears record

the Colts would have to put their players on steroids.

Keep the faith!

Well scratch that plan out then, lol.

Hmmm

As would I

Yet, you wouldn’t be pumped if they were 19-0

Of course I would be pumped about the Colts being 19-0

but I don’t think about it. To be honest, I’ve looked at the remaining schedule and I truly believe the Colts can beat every team on it. The only teams that I thought could beat the Colts were the Cardinals, who the Colts embarrassed on national T.V, and a Patriot team that was outplayed in the fourth quarter by the Colts. Both ended up being victories for the Colts, and I’m happy.

Do I think the Texans have legitimate change to beat the Colts, yes because on any given Sunday any team can win; but will they they be Colts, the jury’s still out on that. Hell, even the Litter Kitties have a shot of beating the Colts in a couple of weeks! I say this every week, but that win over Jax in week 1 is looking better and better since they’re like the 5 seed right now and are definitelyin the hunt for a playoff spot.

Nah

I think we all exhausted our 16-0 talk in 2005 when we went 13-0. I don’t care what our record is as long as we reach/win the Super Bowl. 19-0 would be great, but whatever. I’d rather we rest our starters in the final weeks.

If the Pats beat the Saints

They won’t lose again. No way in hell the Jaguars go into New England and beat them, Jacksonville are one of the worst road teams in the NFL. They might have lost away to the Dolphins, but not with the wildcat in the parking lot thanks to Ronnie Brown getting gimped. And the Texans will fail, like the Texans always fail when they have to play someone tougher than roadkill.

Otherwise, I think you’re pretty close.

I think there's a good chance Pitt

loses to GB as well, if Polomalu is still out when they play them.

Indianapolis (10-0). Remaining Schedule: @Hou, Tenn, Den, @Jax, NYJ, @Buff.
Colts lock up AFC South title with either a win over Houston or Tennessee. I say the Denver game is the tipping point: if the Colts are 13-0 after Denver, they run the table. That being said, if we’re going to lose, it’ll be this weekend, @Jax, or @Buff. 14-2
Cincinnati (7-3). Remaining Schedule: Cle, Det, @Minn, @SD, KC, @NYJ.
Don’t trust Cincy. At all. Likely losses: Minn and SD. 11-5
San Diego (7-3). Remaining Schedule: KC, @Cle, @Dal, Cin, @Tenn, Wash.
I don’t see anything on SD’s schedule that makes me go “they’re headed for a trap game”. Then again, this team is completely bipolar and can win and lose anywhere, any given week. Chalk them up for at least one or two more losses. 12-4
New England (7-3). Remaining Schedule: @NO, @Mia, Car, @Buff, Jax, @Hou.
The Pats will win out. 13-3
Jacksonville (6-4). Remaining Schedule: @SF, Hou, Mia, Indy, @NE, @Cle.
Losses to SF, Indy, and NE. 9-7
Pittsburgh (6-4). Remaining Schedule: @Bal, Oak, @Cle, GB, Bal, @Mia.
Depends entirely on Big Ben. If he’s back, then they’ll probably win four more games. If he’s out, they’re toast. 10-6
Denver (6-4). Remaining Schedule: NYG, @KC, @Indy, Oak, @Phil, KC.
Losses to Giants, Indy, Eagles. 9-7
Baltimore (5-5). Remaining Schedule: Pitt, @GB, Det, Chi, @Pitt, @Oak.
I see two losses in there. 9-7
Houston (5-5). Remaining Schedule: Indy, @Jax, Sea, @ St. Louis, @Mia, NE.
Losses at Indy, Jax, NE. 8-8
Miami (5-5). Remaining Schedule: @Buff, NE, @Jax, @Tenn, Hou, Pitt.
Four losses. 7-9
Tennessee (4-6). Remaining Schedule: Ariz, @Indy, St. Louis, Mia, SD, @Sea.
Three losses. 7-9

Predicted AFC Playoff Picture:
1) Indianapolis
2) New England
3) San Diego
4) Cincinnati
5) Jacksonville
6) Pittsburgh

Opening round: Pittsburgh@San Diego, Jacksonville@Cincinnati
Divisional round: Cincinnati@Indianapolis, San Diego@New England
Championship: New England@Indianapolis
Super Bowl: Indianapolis vs. New Orleans

If the Colts are undefeated

by the time they get to the Bills. They wont rest anyone. This is Caldwell not Dungy. I highly doubt he will sit starters. They may go to the bench for garbage time in the 4th if the Colts are killing the Bills. But if they are undefeated then, I expect Caldwell to go for the throat and play the starters for the win.
