Freeney Injury
I'm surprised I haven't seen much discussion regarding Freeney's injury. It appears to have worsened over the weeks. He's been dragging that right leg quite a bit. I don't think his gait has been right since the Cardinal game.
Dawson's injury could be a big part of bringing Josh "the turtle" Thomas back but I think it's more of an indication that Dwight's getting worse. Just a guess, but I wouldn't doubt if he misses a few games or becomes very limited. Once we have the #1 seed, I'd be shocked if he even plays.

You might be right
But I don’t think that Freeney not getting a sack the past two games has anything to do with an injury as much as schemes and competent line play against him. You may be overplaying Freeney’s injury and downplaying Dawson’s. But I see no reason why the Colts wouldn’t severely limit Freeney the last two games to get him rested. I think three weeks with limited practice and play should have him right back in mid-season form.
I wonder if they’ll play Wheeler at DE in passing situations as they try to rest him, or bring back Marcus Howard if he doesn’t sign with the Steelers.
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
I agree
Baltimore last week kept a whole lot of people to in to block, thats why our coverage was pretty steller since they didnt have alot of receivers out in pass coverage.

I really think
that if the Colts truly felt Freeney was injured more severely than he is letting on, they wouldnt let him on the field.
This team has seen what happens when they lose him for the year, and I can guarantee you they won’t be taking chances given the state of the secondary already this year…
This..
…not to mention the fact this team has yet to lose a game this season. If Freeney is truly injured, this team has a major cushion with which to provide him rest. They would use it if they needed to. They wouldn’t “waste” Freeney by further aggravating injury when they are well on their way to a top seed. Just wouldn’t happen…

Freeney's injury
was related to his hip this past week on the report, not his quad. Two completely different injuries. If either was bothering him too much, he would not play, of that I am certain. I think the Thomas re-signing was just to give guys like Freeney and Mathis a little more rest as the season winds down, as well as giving dawson some more time to get healthy. It is a position we are somewhat thin at anyway.
With the way Chad Simpson has been playing in the backfield, things were looking dim for Mike Hart’s future on the team. He wasn’t waived to make room for another DE because of an injury to Freeney or anyone else, he was waived because it’s hard to keep a fourth string running back when depth is needed elsewhere. It’s a shame b/c he was such a great college player and showed potential his rookie year, but that’s the NFL for you.
"A lot of times, Kenny, we have no idea what we're doing. But the DEFENSE doesn't know that we don't know what we're doing.....and that's next level." -Peyton Manning
Good news. Mike Hart passed waivers and was signed to the Colts practice squad.
Pressure is somethig you feel when you don't know what you're doing!

Oehser just tweeted
that Caldwell was quoted as saying that re-signing Thomas is more to do with Dawson’s injury than with Freeney’s – whew
How can you not love a team that does this?
Yeah, but we know what a shady, lying, piece of scum the coach is….
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
