ok im early but i decided to throw a pop quiz question out for you when you started showing up
which franchise’s has the least amount of passing yards by there top QB ?? ( dont cheat on this question guys (shake, mgrex)). as a second which 2nd year offensive player is getting ready to break a franchise record next season??
GO COLTS!!! 09 IS OURS!!!
Bucs?
and the 2nd question is too vague for me. Is it a Colt? or can you specify the position or type of record (passing, rushing, rec, defense, etc)?

2nd year passing has to be Flacco or Ryan
Ryan isn’t playing overly well so I’ll say it’s Flacco

I just considered the fact
that they technically gave up all franchise records in the move to Baltimore plus never had a very potent passing attack
yep even texans have better passing offense

im not listening
but if we’re comparing defenses, the 2005 defense was the best as far as ‘can be down right dominant’, although they were also inconsistent.

okay
well does this come down to the Saints D being overrated, or the Pats D? I personally think the Saints OL will handle the Patriots DL, and I think Peyton showed their secondary can be had once you wear them down. I think the Saints will be able to run the ball better than the Colts (and I think the Colts were pretty effective running). I picked the Patriots to win, for various reasons, but I wouldnt be surprised if NO won. Especially if they get an early lead, that dome is what the RCA dome used to be.

The only thing I dont like going into this Texans game
is the number of injuries. I understand that alot of those players are coming back, but it still leaves a queezy feeling
Just wait until NO isn't on the upcoming MNF schedule and you'll hear they haven't beat anyone
if they lose Monday.

We need both of our backs to be healthy
Thats why I want more rotation between the two (Addai, Brown)
shoulder injuries seem to be a death knell for RBs
they don’t seem to be the same until the following year. I hope Brown will be OK, but his production has been way down since he came back, and i don’t think its the OL this time.

really, though?
With a home run hitter they are respecting play fakes more, they are playing more run defense defenes, they arent constantly getting depth regardless of the play, the CBs sometimes cheat with their eyes, etc…

well we're sort of changing the discussion now, though
I think the homerun hitter opens things up for the passing game more. We don’t have homerun hitters and until recently we had been eschewing the run for passes on 3rd and shorts. I don’t think its fair to say would you rather have a Chris Johnson or a Joseph Addai, because I think the talent level is pretty wide, but is that a comparison you think is favorable for the Colts, given their offense?
Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly
Joseph Addai is a good running back.

CJ or Peterson are on a level above Addai
if I was to pick someone over them off that level for the Colts O it’d be MJD or SJax

better at belly and dives, which we've seen more of lately. I dont know why they keep harping
on needing the stretch play for play action, you can PA off of any sort of run, and since the gut runs are more effective, just stick with them.

Just caught bits and pieces of the replay
Wanted to catch some before I went out. Nice job tonight. I am going to offer a different opinion on Donald Brown, though. I fully understand your desire to see him have an impact game and really produce, and I like you’re Addai analogy. Joe has been destroyed by this fanbase prior to his first game as a Colt and is rarely given a pass. Yet Brown has been mentioned a lot as better than Addai (at least on this site, as well as others I’m sure). Doesn’t make much sense.
Yet, you said something along the lines of “a first round running back needs to be a big time player right away.” I agree to that somewhat, but not entirely. If you are a top 5-10 draft pick, then yes, you are expected to be putting up rookie of the year and potentially pro bowl numbers. That is why you get overpaid. For the most part, those guys do well (Benson didn’t get the memo until this year apparently). But for a guy who is drafted late first round like Brown, you can’t expect the world from him in his first season, especially when he is the no. 2 RB. I’m not saying they should be given a pass, but they can’t expect to be Chris Johnson either. I think a season like Addai had his rookie year is an acceptable expectation for fans, and I believe that is what you are trying to say, and I agree.
I have to disagree somewhat with you’re comment where you roughly said, “produce 60 yards next game or I don’t know why you were drafted” without considering that by being injured, he was never able to get into a comfortable groove. He missed 3 games, and any time a rookie misses 3 games, he will take time to re-adjust. A veteran RB can miss a couple and get back in without skipping a beat. They know the pro game and the team system all too well to make mental mistakes. Brown is still new to the pro game. Missing those 3 games is like getting sick and missing 3 straight classes in college, and trying to catch up on notes your roommate brings home to you. You won’t go to the next class with a seamless transition; the notes may have helped, but you’re still behind. In the same way, Brown is not going to come back from 3 games missed and explode out of the gate. As we saw from the Pats and Ravens games, he is still finding his way back. As for “production” you want to see, in the game he was hurt in, he rushed twice for 58 yards. He was going to have a huge game. The kid has the talent, he just needs to get re-acclimated. Don’t pounce on him too hard if he gets like 9 carries for 41 yards or something.
I know you’re not bashing Brown or anything, and I don’t fault you for expecting more in the Texans game and then some, but he is a good running back and I doubt anyone will be disappointed as long as they don’t expect back to back 100 yard game type of production. If he gets 10-15 carries a game from here on out, and puts up around 50-75 yards a game, as well as doing the non-flashy stuff like blocking, we should all be happy.
"A lot of times, Kenny, we have no idea what we're doing. But the DEFENSE doesn't know that we don't know what we're doing.....and that's next level." -Peyton Manning
Regarding the college class analogy
I meant missing 3 classes your freshman year, 1st semester, after coming out of high school. Just in case no one got that. All right. I’m out to the bar. Have a good night, everyone still here.
