Garcon still needs to learn how to catch the ball?
Stretches the field....has that fifth gear that other Colts receivers don't have....and oh yeah...is being consistent.
When Gonzo comes back, do you still think he shoud lose his spot? I know that many of us are Gonzalez fans ( I know I am) but I am also a believer in a "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. At this point in time....there is no way, that Gonzo shoud take Garcon's spot. There certainly a place for Gonzo on this team, but not as a starter out wide. Garcon has earned his place, IMHO.

They should rotate Gonzo and Collie in the slot.
Keeps defenses on their toes.

When Gonzo gets back near 100%,
I like the idea of Wayne-Garcon-Gonzalez,
Gonzo and Garcon out wide, Wayne in the slot. Similar to how it was done in 2008 with Harrison-Wayne-Gonzalez, no?
Gonzo is an outside receiver
not a slot receiver. I suspect that there will be a lot of rotating of Gonzo and Garcon on the outside. Maybe some trips formation with Gonzo, Garcon, and Collie on one side with Wayne on the other. Throw Clark in there somewhere…geez that’s a scary formation.
Wayne could play a lot of slot
like he did last year

I'm pretty sure ...
Gonzo has been and still could be a slot receiver.

he did play slot his rookie year
but in college all he played was outside and I think I remember somewhere him saying he’s more comfortable out there. I could be making that part up though
No in college he was almost always slot
That’s why Colts originally drafted him to play slot to replace Stokely
Oh no!
That’s completely false. Gonzo played all over the field just like Ginn did. It’s ridiculous to think that Polian is going to spend a 1st round pick on a slot receiver.
Why is it so hard for people to understand that Gonzo was drafted to be the #2 receiver opposite Reggie Wayne when Harrison inevitably left football?
Does the word originally mean anything to you?
I remember specifically the colts.com article where Gonzo said he was playing in slot almost all the time in college. In fact, Gonzo said he begged to play outside. Yeah Gonzo was drafted to eventually replace Harrison, but you are forgetting one key thing:
Harrison was HEALTHY the year before they drafted Gonzo. Colts drafted Gonzo to originally play slot, and they planned to have Gonzo replace Harrison on the outside eventually down the road.
Oh no!

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: What should you do if a hot dog vendor gives you a free hot dog? Why, throw it on the ground, of course.
I prefer Gonzo playing in the slot.
He is very effective there. I would like to get him back next week. We need to get our best 3rd down receiver back. That will help sustain more drives. Well Done Addai today!!!

Rotate Collie/Gonzo/Wayne/Clark in the slot
So many possibilities! I think we need to keep Garcon on the outside. I am on record as hating Garcon for his penalties, trash talking, and show boating, But he has been clutch the last two weeks. He also helps us spread the defense out since he is such a great deep threat. Although I love Collie, Gonzo is faster and has much more experience with Peyton.
Give Collie less reps and work Gonzo back into the slot for the playoff push. It’s great that he’ll have some non-pressure games to shake the rust off.
Trade Anthony this offseason
"Brett Favre was a man who thought he was retired, but he knew it wouldn't last."
I swear, the next person I have a face-to-face conversation with that says Garcon should be the starting WR over Gonzo when he returns is getting a punch to the face.
How on earth can anyone justify that decision? Garcon has played great at times, but Gonzo is infinitely more consistent and better at every aspect of the receiver position than Garcon is. And that’s a FACT.
What I would like to see when Gonzo returns and is 100% is Garcon back doing return duties for kickoffs and punts.
Also, that cliche of “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” is even dumber than the suggestion that Garcon should supplant Gonzo as the #2 receiver. Why might you ask? Well that’s because it’s a physical impossibility to fix something that is not broken. Please stop watching Mike Ditka so much on tv.
lol
agree.
As far as we know, Garcon will have 4 good games, then 4 bad games or something like that. Gonzo was consistent. To say Garcon has been is completely false. Please take it easy, Garcon has a lot to prove, just as Collie or Brown.

Wow
Don’t DISAGREE with me or I will punch you in the face! Get over yourself King RIchard.
Gonzo IS better..but to start him when he has played what, one or two snaps this season over a guy that is showing consistency in catching the ball and can stretch the field. is ludicrous. Gonzo will have plenty of rust to work out.
Furthermore, why is it so hard to believe that Gonzo could lose his position for this season? For good? Pollak and Ugoh are high picks and yet they lost their positions. Yes, for those two, it was performance related……but there is no way you can tell me that high picks “deserving” a position falls in line with the way Caldwell is running this team.
What???
AG is a slot receiver. It will be Wayne and Garcon on the outside for the next couple years. That’s a good 1-2 receiving duo in my book. Pierre has earned his spot. AG will start in the slot with Collie as his back up.
Also, did I read someone actually hates Hines Ward?? How on earth can you hate Hines Ward?? He is a true football player and a total winner.
on a related note..did anyone notice the colts going 5 wide more than I have ever seen today…and is anyone else salivating at the thought of a wayne, clark, gonzo, garcon, collie five wide set?
But then who would stay back to help the line w/the 3 man rush?
Okay, I don’t have a lot of confidence in our line right now, but I accidentally laughed a little bit when I saw Charlie Johnson doing his job on Mario Williams when Donald Brown came flying in to knock Johnson off his man. He looked like a rookie.
it wouldn’t really be an every down thing..i was thinking more like the way the pats use it..about 7-10 plays a game…the whole idea is to get the ball out quickly..it depends on the qb’s ability to make decisions..last time i checked..the colts have a pretty decent trigger man

I tire of this discussion
I’m sure they’ll figure out how to make the most of the available players. Gonzalez probably won’t be an every down player when he does come back, so the Garcon lovers need not panic. They’ll want to ease Gonzo back into it to make sure he’s available for the playoffs. He’s a fast, smart player with good instincts and excellent hands. He will be on the field once healthy. Exactly where is for Peyton and Tom Moore to work out. I just really hope we get to see him play again soon. If he can play at the level he was playing at last year all of this “ain’t broke don’t fix it” stuff will fade away.
Out of problems to have
four starting-caliber WRs in a three-receiver offense is a pretty nice one.
And we’ve got to be prepared for the possibility that Gonzalez isn’t coming back
