5 Things I Think I Know: Sorry About Last Week Edition
I forgot to post up one of these last week due to school and work, but its back this week. Come on, you know you all missed ti. Like the MSM, you guys all love to praise my work[/sarcasm]. Without further adou here is what I take from this week.
1.) While obvious, I think this team is very resilient. Not that they weren't under Dungy's tenior or prior years, but this team is showing us something special. They really all look focused on trying to accomplish the ultimate goal in the NFL and that's to win the Superbowl. Its for this reason why I was overreacting a bit the last few weeks. Because they are special, because they are so determined, its irritating to see this team struggle early or in the middle of games. We all know they are better than what they have displayed in the first half of that Texans game.
2.) I think Pierre Garcon is going to be a mainstay in this offense for a long time. He has really matured these last couple of weeks making big plays and most importantly, being consistent. He is looking the ball into his hands and not dropping them and his routes are looking more crisp. He still has a ways to go, but thats a good thing. If he looks this good now with a lot of room for improvement, just wait for the oncoming years.
3.) I think Ryan Diem is finished. Since the removal of Pollak, we have still seen the same problems the Colts have always had on the right side. The running lanes are still getting clogged on that side and the pressure is still coming from that side. No longer is Pollak the scapegoat and its not DeVan since he is improving the run game up the middle. The lone culprit is Diem. He was responsible for one INT and a few sacks yesterday. Its time to seek a replacement and release him, or shift him over to the inside.
4.) I think its time for the MBBD. Thats the "Melvin Bullitt Beatdown Defense". Its Titans week and Vince Young is back in the saddle at starting QB. They are running option plays and running Chris Johnson all over the place. Bullitt may not be Bob Sanders in coverage, but he sure looks like him when chasing down a running back and playing in the box. Also, with Coyer calling the plays, the defense will be coming after Young.
5.) I think the Colts will remain the lone undefeated team by tonight. Do I care? not really, but I dont see the Saints beating the Patriots tonight. Why? I believe the Saints defense is overrated and can be had. If the Rams could almost do it, the Patriots most certainly can. The only NFC team I could see standing up to the AFC's elite is the Vikings and only if they make it to the Superbowl, will they have the chance to showcase that.

Garcon
The hit he took with that Manning pass in that small window to the sideline, was absolutely a brilliant catch and one I didn’t expect him to hold on to… But he made a veteran catch that kept the drive alive.
I love Garcon and if we make it to the Superbow, I’m buying a Garcon Jersey… I’m also going to need to find a Garcon Bobble Head to add to my collection…
He's had a couple of those catches this season
Where you really don’t expect him to hang onto it, but he does. Now if he could just shut up and head back to the huddle, we’d be all right. I honestly don’t mind a little arrogance out of somebody, but only when they can back it up, and he’s a couple of productive seaons away from having a reason to be cocky.
I happen to like Garcon's yapping
I have always loved the way the Colts go about their business on offense, Efficient and Quiet. Score and run back to the sidelines, no dumbass first down signaling and Santana Moss football spinning.
But I also love the way Garcon plays. Garcon doesn’t just talk trash, he hits people in the mouth and makes plays on guys drafted in the first rounds of the draft. The guy went to a D III school and his NFL chances were doubted by just about everyone, He’s productive, hes not causing problems with the team, and he just plays mean.
Garcon just brings a force of physicality and pure meanness that has never been on this Indy Offense.

P.G. taking a monster hit from Lewis and bouncing right back up.

Seriously, watch how he handles Cromartie, it’s awesome…If that doesn’t make you stand up and yell, I think a switch to watching soccer and yelling for yellow cards is in order

Do they mass produce Garcon jerseys?
Having one with the fancy “c” would be cool. I forget the name for it.
Please do not mention...
Garcon and Bobble in the same sentence. Don’t want to jinx the recent improvement.

No kidding.
"I throw, you catch. It's NOT that hard!"

I agree! I live in Atlanta, and there a lot of people down here who think the Saints are the best team ever. I think their offenses may be equal, but when it comes to coaching and defense, the Pats have a huge advantage. Not to mention experience.
But we still won’t hear about the Colts. It just means Favre and the Vikings are the best team …..
This team is resilient.
Getting Gonzalez back will equip us with great WR depth.
I agree about Diem. I could be wrong, but it sure looks to me like he has grown old quickly.
MBBD? Sounds like a blast. I’m sure that whatever Coyer has planned will be great.
With the luxury of hindsight, let me point out that the Saints are real, and really good. I look forward to watching the Colts do what NE couldn’t and beat them in the super bowl.
