looking to this weekend
we haven't really talked much about the upcoming matchup with Houston so i thought we should start. there is an article from Indy Football Report i found here.
i think this will provide us with some good starting points::
Your thoughts on not having Jackson or Hayden potentially and having Lacey and Powers and behind them (rushings, and Jennings)??
(remember that they will have to cover Andre Johnson which will likely be the biggest threat to us. you agree?
thoughts on Manning's rest and what he and the team had to say about it?
thoughts on our defense and also on how our offensive line??
( i thought the offensive line was pretty poor this last week but think it will be ok and they just had an off day would you agree??) or is there more to it??
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

My take on some things...
If Manning is going to rest, I would prefer it be earlier in the week. But I am not the coach and I trust our coaches.
Because Daniels is out this game, we will not have to put a safety on the TE. My bet is that a LB could cover their TE and we could double Johnson with one of the rooks and (probably) Bob/Melvin. If we put the safety up top, he will not beat us deep. That should free Bethea (who is AWESOME – he gets so little credit) to come in to smack Slaton/Moats around.
I think Freeny and Mathis will destroy their OLine.
The biggest matchup of the week will be Mario Williams against CJ! If CJ is not up for this one, 18 could see the ground 2-4 times again!
If Brown is back, I think our run game could get going this week (right through the hole that Williams leaves going around the edge to get Manning.
Speaking of Edge, bring him back. Not for his ability, but for some mentoring!
Let’s remember that the Colts had a tough time winning these two games last year. The first game we had to score 21? points to come back and win (thank you Wayne for an amazing catch, thank you Mathis for the sack/strip, and thank you Rosenfells for that midair dive/spin), and thank you Manning for being alive)!
My prediction: Colts 31, Texans 21

There's not too much to talk about
with the upcoming matchup against Houston. We totally own them. Even when they’re ahead and should, by some fluke, have won a game against us in the past, they find a way to blow it. Has there ever been a more lopsided series in the history of sports?? 13-1? I’m not sure what the final score will be, but it will be a relatively easy game for the Colts. I’m already looking ahead to the Patriots. Can’t wait for that matchup!

Wow...
Do you forget that nothing is a given in football?
The Texans are getting better and better every year. Not to mention, they know the Colts as well as anyone else in the league, save the Titans.
I can guarantee the Colts are not looking ahead to the Pats!

As far as knowing the Colts as well as anyone,
they certainly know how to lose to the Colts better than anyone, that’s for sure. I know they have the best record they’ve ever had and I agree with you about any given Sunday, but, come on, it’s the Texans. Also, I’m well aware that the Colts take it week by week and prepare like nobody else and don’t look ahead to anyone, that’s why I can!

That is true
We are not the ones preparing.

Not Enough Credit
You’re not giving them enough credit. Yes, we’ve ‘owned’ them b/c we’ve beaten them so many times and yes, we’ve owned them b/c several of those wins were blowouts, but the Texans are getting it together. Good players, good coach. Many of our blowouts came against Carr. They’re a different team now.

They're a better team,....yes.
But, that’s not saying a whole lot considering where they came from. It’s in their DNA to lose. That’s just what they do. Mark my words, they’ll find a way to stay at .500 or worse this year! lmao

Learning things from history
I would guess that you have been a Colts fan for the past 5-10 years or so, based on your comments above.
And yes, for the past 7.5 seasons, the Colts have been one hell of a winning NFL team. And that just happens to perfectly coincide with the entire 7.5 seasons of existence for the Texans. And yes, the first 5 seasons were consecutive losing seasons (worse than .500) for the Texans.
But remember 2 things. First, the Colts were 3-13 in the 2 consecutive seasons before the Texans came into the NFL. Second, the Colts once went 9 consecutive seasons without ever getting to or above the .500 mark that you reference. That’s a streak of losing seasons nearly twice as long as the Texans have ever had. And that streak for the Texans came in the first years of being an NFL expansion team (and with Carr at QB, no less).
All I’m saying is that you cannot make such condescending statements regarding another team, without taking your own team’s 55+ year history into consideration. When I was growing up, it was the Colts who were the perennial losers in the NFL for a decade. And it was a full 20 years that they never won more than 9 games in a season. The NFL is extremely cyclical. Sometimes the cycle is 3-5 years, and sometimes 10-12. But there is always a cycle.

Relax Shake,
I’m just having a little fun with it. Your team has been steadily getting better. All teams go through highs and lows. Actually, I do respect the Texans. There….ya happy! Let’s hope for a great game Sunday!

Texas
Plays us tough……..big mistake to look ahead against them. Not gonna happen though.

Feel free to look ahead
The colts have only played the texans once with Schaub under center. And all of the point they scored this past week where after Owen Daniels was out of the game. Joel (the back up TE) would be a starter on most NFL teams. You will still have match up issues with him, and Slayton gets alot of looks out of the back field as well as the WR’s for the texans are by far their deepest possition as far as quality goes.

As far as I can see, nobody has looked ahead at all. Has there been a mention of any other opponent besides the Texans this week?
It’s the truth that we match up well against the Texans. Doesn’t mean that you might not win in some of the match ups, but there are teams that would trouble the Colts more.
