Two roster moves are coming, folks!

Adam Schefter tweeted that Josh Thomas and Anthony Madison were waived today. My guess is that this says that Freeney is expected back this week, and MAYBE we'll see a Ratliff signing?!?

UPDATES:

1. Colts worked out Dom and QB Shane Boyd today... (tip to GoHorse88)

2. WR John Matthews released from the PS

UFL signings maybe

Season just ended, and today was the first day the championship players could be signed I believe.

A Ratliff signing

would please me and basketcat as well

Why do we think they’ll sign Ratliff? Doesn’t it just mean Hayden looks good to play this weekend?

by Louisville Soul Train on Dec 1, 2009 6:37 PM EST reply actions

Good point

I was a bit hasty (and maybe optimistic) in posting the info. That said, I have been assuming that they would want Hayden to get 2 full weeks of practice before putting him back in… he could at least rotate in making Madison unnecessary for now.

What’s kind of exciting, though, is what they may do with the 2 new roster spots. Damn I wish they had nabbed Jon Runyan a couple of weeks ago.

This thing called

Depth. The Colts are lacking it in the secondary. And he could be a help on special teams.

Signing Ratliff just makes sense period...

Adding a guy who can fill in in the secondary is a must right now, as I would not want ANY chance of Jennings being the starting CB come playoff time…

Lacey and Powers are great, but after that…..there’s Jennings…..and if any of you thinks that Ratliff isnt better…..

Of course the other possibility

is that someone else is injured and they need the roster spot for depth at that other mysterious position. Sorry – just went peytonsthebest on everyone ;-)

No one

He was brought on to play in Freeney’s spot and he should be back this week.

and then brought up for Freeney and cut again.

He will be one guy

who plays while most starters are on the bench, IMO, just to get him back to playing shape

man we have such a break i think they need to rest a couple players per week start with

the ones who are not the KEY guys. then have them all play at least 3 quarters the last game then they got another week off. so basically use the next 4 games to take turns resting players then play them the last game before the week off they get for the bye.

GO COLTS!!! 09 IS OURS!!!

I don't see a lot of starters

playing in the Bills game. It will be like 6 degrees when they play and when its cold, it hurts a lot more to get hit. I think the Colts will still win that game with the backups in. The Bills will have nothing to play for and will just be ready to get this season over and start the search for a new coach and get ready for next season

ok personally id like to see painter get some reps when we start using the backups

this may happen if sorgi isn’t available but he may be i got no idea anymore what is going on with him unless they have just decided that painter is better which i think is possible

Dom should be the kick returner. Hell, my grandma could do better if she just let the ball roll into the endzone and fell on it.

Me thinks..

Boyd was signed only to be the scout team’s Vince Young.

by GonzoBlue on Dec 2, 2009 4:59 PM EST up reply actions

My thoughts

Dom can be the new kick returner and Simpson waived. He is a solid 3rd RB, but his laughable kick returning skills are pissing Polian and Caldwell off to no end and it is time for a change. Plus Dom has postseason experience which will be huge since Brown has been struggling lately.

Yea

easy to forget that being that big isnt healthy. I do hope he’s doing well post colts, (I think he was interviewed for a reason article on teh Colts OL, so probably not too bad), but health issues aside, the team could use him. CJ has been real shaky the past few weeks.

well a guy with a LTs build can be healthy pretty heavy

just because of the height and width of their frames, but it seems like a ton of LTs have weight issues. Or maybe they are just more noticeable since they are giant men who have to remain extremely athletic.

yes

Just in general though, these guys are either too large (think Vince Wilfork is going to have a fun post career life?) or take too many hits and end up vegetating when they are 50. Look at a guy like Manning, I hope and pray his post-career life is normal, since he’s clear never been ‘injured’, but keeps playing every snap.

with two roster spots

this seems like a great time to bring on a 4th QB and a 3rd kicker (Jason Elam is available, so we can go 3 for 3 in the ‘really old’ club) and we can have 7 roster spots taking up 2 non-rotating positions. That’ll be fantasti.c

he had a horrible mistake on that pass block. however i think it is more him getting back into it after missing as he is a rookie. i dont think he is injured.

I can't remember where I read it, but there was a list of 8 or 9 UFL players

that NFL teams are very interested in pursuing and I noticed one was an offensive tackle and another was a “pass rusher”.

Keith and his brother are very close friends of mine, and Keith will be signing tomorrow with the Colts. Keith Gray was an undrafted free agent who was one of the last cuts with the Panthers. He played last season with Donald Brown at UConn.
