Thank GOD!

Here's a scary thought (for Colts opponents)
Right now, Indy’s cruising. Doesn’t it feel like they’ve got another gear or two in reserve? What’s scary is that Indy doesn’t even feel like it’s stressing. And so far, they’re schellacking Denver.
21 – 0 means nothing in the first half, I realize that – there’s a whole second half to play yet, and that’s only 3 touchdowns – but still, doesn’t it feel like Indy hasn’t even showed their hand, let alone psyched up for today?

Anyone on this forum right now has internet access… which I assume would allow them to see the scores of the games on NFL.com or ESPN.com with ease. So… listing the scores in this forum, continuously throughout the entire day, seems unnecessary. Particularly in the middle of watching our own game. "Pressure is something you feel if you don't know what the hell you're doing."-Peyton Manning
You know what though, even though we have been horribly inconsistent, when we are on, I don’t know who the hell can beat us. 20 minutes of the colts being awesome >>>> 90% of the league’s 60 minute effort.
That other 10% will get us beat in the playoffs though...
…if we don’t at least address the issue. Gotta play for 60.
Our offense runs great wide open but stalls when you ease up...
Now I’m not an expert, just a guy who loves football and has followed this team for years. In those years this has been the case. Why do we continue to do it, over and over? I just don’t understand. When the offense has a big lead you’d think you could take more chances, more risks, do more to break it open. Sometimes when you’re down on defense you have to do the same. Why don’t we? I just don’t get it.
Thanks to MarkFive05 I have a new theme video that I hope you all will remember me by: BAM BAM
To me...
It’s riskier on offense to play conservative because the defense is playing aggressive at the LOS… IE – they are trying to keep you from the short plays. If you stay aggressive and keep the defense on its heels you can continue to control the game. sigh
Thanks to MarkFive05 I have a new theme video that I hope you all will remember me by: BAM BAM
I always figure...
…that Peyton is taking what he’s being given, and teams against Manning are always afraid of getting beaten deep (moreso as they get behind more). But maybe it is a playcalling/decision making issue, I dunno.
Either way...
Our offense becomes more predictable, more conservative, and loses some of its dynamic when it gets the lead. Look at every play called offensively since we took at 21-0 lead. All of them have been short passes, runs, screens, etc. The defense has been sitting on those plays. Stretching the field like on the first drive? Absent from the offense. Our ball carriers are getting crushed and nearly injured with these short plays that are no longer also joined by long plays or calls to stretch the field. No stretch plays for lateral flexibility and no long throws for vertical flexibility. The results? Nearly no offensive momentum or motion. Guys getting crushed. And even a INT made BECAUSE their defense was close to the LOS while the offensive players were running short routes and staying in. All bad, all leading to no positive motion or turnovers.
If I’m seeing it wrong, help me out.
Thanks to MarkFive05 I have a new theme video that I hope you all will remember me by: BAM BAM
they took at least one deep shot I remember

by shake n bake on Dec 13, 2009 2:57 PM EST up reply actions
Yeah.
I guess my point was that the offense doesn’t really change – it just takes what the defense is willing to give. Peyton’s just responding to the ongoing tendency of NFL coaches playing not to win, but to not be embarrassed. Thus, Peyton’s seeing increased deep coverage when we get a lead and is consistently switching to short pass plays because they appear to be open.
Note that this is just observational argument regarding playcalling. I’m not sure if teams actually do play deeper when they get behind against us… it’s just a potential reason why we might be throwing shorter routes and running.

Colts need to play agressive offensively for 60 mins. not until they get a lead.
This is why games are always close

Getting passive with a lead is almost always a bad idea.
The Steelers learned that the hard way in the 90s.

Not really

Just got in. 21 to 7 at the half looks good.
have we been playing that well?
"Peyton Manning feels no pressure, he applies it"
very well to start
then the O stalled out a couple times and the Broncos exploited Marshall being covered by Jennings

What happened to Clark on the injury?
"Peyton Manning feels no pressure, he applies it"
no idea
he got kinda jammed, but kept running just fine, caught the ball, took a couple steps then dropped to a knee and stayed down a while before jogging off the the sideline.

2nd half adjustments...
1. Continue to contain the run.
2. Double Marshall and take him out of the game. They have no passing game short or otherwise without Marshall.
3. Protect Manning a little better on the right side…
4. Run the ball a little better.
If we can contain Marshall on 3rd down we should win this game…
3rd Down
lets stop them! By the way Hayden is on Marshall now
